Being first and/or biggest guarantees nothing, as the former characteristics tend to breed complacency in the long-term.

But what happen to Myspace

You know

Live Free Or Contemplate Your Death!

Myspace is a social network

I was strictly addressing MMOs and crypto currencies.

He's also wrong about WoW

World of Warcraft wasn't even close to being the first.

Pretty funny.

You're absolutely correct

While it may not be apparent, I was trying to specify that this phenomenon seems to happen with the first one to cross a certain threshold of success like I mentioned just after the two minute mark, not necessarily the very first one. Using the phrase 'first to market' is probably causing some confusion.

There were some big ones before WoW though

with millions of subscribers. My main point would be that WoW wasn't even a second-generation game, much less first-to-market. It took a while for a company to hit on a formula that would dominate. That's the pattern for pretty much anything in the digital world, whether it's MMORPGs, or browsers, or social networking sites, etc., and I don't see any reason to expect that digital currency competition will shake out any differently.

Looks like the price is rallying already

Bitcoin just won't stay down, will it?

Ever here of Michael Robinson?

He's offering and educational system for bitcoin. It costs $50.00, thoughts?

Unnecessary at best, scammy at worst

He's selling information that is readily available to anyone looking to invest in bitcoin. There's nothing mystical about it, you just buy some. That process may have a learning curve, but there's all kinds of organizations and sites dedicated to helping people learn the basics.

Thanks for your input

Are you looking for a site to help get you started?

If that's the case, weusecoins.com is specifically set up for that:

As far as buying bitcoins, this was made awhile ago so they don't mention Coinbase, which is becoming one of the more recommended exchanges to actually purchase coins.
