Update on handcuffed teen shot in police car: "Durham Police Use Tear Gas to Break Up Protest of Teen's Death"

Durham Police Use Tear Gas To Break Up Protest Of Teen's Death
By Associated Press
6:35 am Fri December 20, 2013

A march to protest the death of a teen suspect in a patrol car ended with police lobbing tear gas and some protesters reportedly being arrested.

Local news media reported that 150 to 200 people marched from downtown Durham to the police department Thursday night to protest the death of 17-year-old Jesus Huerta.

Police say Huerta shot himself in the head in the back of a patrol car after being arrested on second-degree trespassing charges on Nov. 19.

But Huerta's family and friends aren't convinced. Some protesters carried long black banners reading "Murdered By Police."

According to the news reports, police in riot gear threw some tear gas canisters at the increasingly rowdy crowd and made some arrests.

A telephone call to the police department seeking comment wasn't immediately returned.

Wow, thanks for posting this

I had not heard about the guy in Ohio that was hung in his jail cell.

"Police in riot gear threw

"Police in riot gear threw some tear gas canisters at the crowd and made some arrests. Police say protesters threw firecrackers and at least one bottle."

The DPD chief Lopez, has made peaceful protest impossible and violent assault of protesters both probable and palpable. The likelihood of police operatives setting off firecrackers and tossing a bottle to justify this kind of abuse is more believable than some anonymous outsiders he referred to.

Here's my parsing of DPD chief Lopez's own official statement after the death of Jesus Huerta. http://www.dailypaul.com/307680#comment-3286293

He stated that the gun Huerta allegedly used to shoot himself was not found on him before cuffing him behind his back. The arresting officer was driving into the station's parking lot when he said he heard a shot and ditched the moving patrol car with Huerta inside until it came to rest against other vehicles in the lot. The gun was found on the floorboard. He was being hauled in for a warrant over a second-degree trespassing charge.

Shot himself...? Right...

Cops "usually" handcuff a suspect before they are placed into a police vehicle. Cops "usually" frisk the suspect AND ask if they are carrying any weapons or needles. Its rather difficult to self inflict a mortal head wound with a firearm in handcuffs.

Secondly, if I ever protest....I'll be sure to bring along my gas mask and deploy it as necessary for their CS. This story is tragic and the real perp (the cop) should be charged and sentenced for what this is.

According to police...

...the protestors tear-gassed themselves.

I just keep reading this. How is it possible for someone to shoot themselves in the back of a cop car? Have you ever seen cops put someone in the back before searching them? Doesn't that seem crazy? Was this an execution?

Kiev Protests: Another CIA-Coordinated Color Revolution In Progress

Amassing a few hundred thousand people on the Capital square has become the weapon of choice for the CIA.

Ironically, if a few thousand angry protestors ever tried to congregate around the US Capitol building, they would be swiftly herded into fenced-in holding pens out of earshot of the closest Congressman. They would then be arrested, fingerprinted and ferried as far away from the scene of the crime as possible . . . never to fly again.
