Requiem for an ASSASSINATED: The Untimely Death of Journalist Michael Hastings. R.I.P.

As we leave this year very soon, I leave you with a tribute to an individual or two who will go down in history...as REAL heroes.

You know...people who put their very lives on the line to get the truth out there...and then, of course, pay for it with their lives.

2013 was a banner year for such chilling events. There are lots of them....the supermajority of which will not be covered here.

The first...is the untimely--and completely suspicious--death (trans: "assassination") of Rolling Stone journalist Michael Hastings.

Michael Hastings was only 33 years old. He had spend much time embedded in Iraq and Afghanistan and had forged many real friendships with troops there...all the while exposing the corruption and utter illegality of the NATO-spoonsored interventions there.

This got him in trouble. Deep trouble. After his expose' work was instrumental in bringing down the military career of General Stanley McChrystal, Michael was reportedly threatened by one of McChrystal's staffers by saying to Michael, verbatim: "We are going to hunt you down and kill you."

(Oh yeah...THAT Stanley McChrystal who helped propagate the cover-up of the "friendly" fire incident that resulted in Army Ranger' Pat Tillman's death).

Now, for those of you who appreciate the solid engineering of Mercedes-Benz as being some of the best in the world, and the fact that Mercedes Benz even released a statement that "our vehicles do not just BLOW UP" (emphasis mine), Michael Hastings' 2013 C250 should never, even if it exploded on impact...have its fully intact (and non-charred) engine land in the street 100 feet UPSTREAM of the impact zone (!!).

As an homage to this young man and his extraordinary accomplishments even for his short time on this planet, I invite you to take the time to watch this footage chronicling the events of this tragic early morning in June...and then the remarkable video footage of this guy in action....handing Piers Morgan and company their arses to them...at about the 39 minute mark (WATCH!)

And then, in a separate interview with RT in I think 2011, watch his words beginning at about the 51:20 mark. And then at the 52 minute remark Hastings says (in regards to his new controversial book then released called The Operators)--he says this in jest--yet one can't underestimate the power of gravity behind the jest--he says this to the RT reporter (emphasis mine):

"Look...I'm still alive. I'm still standing. THEY HAVENT PUT A DRONE STRIKE ON ME YET. I'm not in GITMO."

I will let you decide for yourself. But in the meantime....

R.I.P. Michael Hastings. You are a noble individual and will not be forgotten.

On that note, here's wishing everyone a peaceful, prosperous, happy, and VIGILANT new year.

Mike Hastings became a household name after TV researchers revealed his family was cheated out of the crown in the 15th century.

An Aussie forklift driver believed by some historians to be the rightful King of England has died, aged 71. Mike Hastings became a household name after TV researchers revealed his family was cheated out of the crown in the 15th century.

A Channel 4 team found documents suggesting Edward IV was illegitimate, so his younger brother George, the Duke of Clarence and Mike’s ancestor, should have been king. It said that Edward's father Richard of York was fighting the French at Pontoise when he was conceived, while his mother Cecily was 125 miles away at Rouen, allegedly in the amorous arms of an English archer.
If true, the crown should have passed on to Edward's younger brother George, the duke of Clarence, who was a direct ancestor to Hastings.

Mike Hastings was born into the aristocracy as the 14th Earl of Loudoun, but he moved to Australia in 1960. Hastings showed little interest in pursuing his claim to the monarchy when interviewed in 2005, citing the intense public scrutiny endured by the royals.

However, he joked: “I reckon I might send Lizzie [Queen Elizabeth II] a bill for back rent. The old girl’s family have been living in my bloody castle for the last 500 years.”

I wouldn't doubt that someone

I wouldn't doubt that someone thought about killing him, or devised scenarios, or even used pysops against him to make him vulnerable.

But I really don't think there is evidence he was killed. Everything points to an accident. If it were something else, I don't see his family or fiancee staying silent.

Why is Glenn Greenwald

allowed to live I wonder? Flitting around the globe in planes trains and automobiles, giving talks, and writing column inches on the NSA, and the evils of the USG.
Well I 'spose no-one, not one person, has been "brought down" with all of his "revelations" so he's Free to Go. Hmmmm??

skype

most talks he gives are over skype or via other video conference from his home in Brazil. He isn't free to go anywhere. Britain proved that when they detained his partner under terrorism laws.

Likely he is a target like Hastings was. But they would be foolish to do anything to him right now. They know that would backfire public opinion on them. So, I am not expecting any drone strikes in the near future.

Thank you for that

candid and to the point reply.
I (wrongly) assumed when GG spoke, he was there in person.
My mistake and I apologise for my assumptions.

Love Michael Hastings

His death disturbs me to this day...they kill the freedom movements best leaders and get away with it...still don't know what to make of his wife. Wish we could find out who did it, he was a great one....RIP Michael.
