Intense demand may cause Colorado pot prices to soar

On Jan. 1, the first legal recreational marijuana outlets will open in Colorado. And with the rise of the new legal marijuana industry comes the question of what newly legal recreational weed should cost.

As it turns out, new users might be best advised to wait a few months before buying their weed. Some experts and store-owners say that getting high in the mile high state will likely be expensive at first, with prices easing off as the supply of weed catches up to the demand from Americans hoping for their first chance to buy recreational marijuana legally.

just a little fud

colorado already has some of the cheapest best quality cannabis in the country.
the prices have been cut in half in colorado over the last few years so a rise in price will put them in line with the rest of the country.
and still cheaper and better quality.

I've got a blunt of WW/Kush hybrid that says you can't finish it with me.

May the strongest lungs prevail ;)

I like talking about weed.

That's all.

Just a friendly way

to get people together:

a smoke-off. The only consequence: there probably won't be enough food.

Are you wacked!

We all know in the New America, That when demand increases and supply dwindles ,,,,, THE PRICE GOES DOWN ! ;)

Just goes to show.. government gets involved and the "profits" go to grow a police state and this is why I PROTEST those communist who want to legalize (lawmanjed is FOS on this subject).

Legalize tomatoes.

Prices have been plummeting for a while now. The biggest problem now is just finding better quality. The stores will have a higher quality but will most likely be higher priced. Not too much though as they may price themselves out of competition.

News flash:

most Cannabis consumers get their goods from dealers that don't pay taxes.

Just sayin...

not in colorado

not since around 2011. most people go to disp or get it from friends who got it at a disp. the game has changed now.

I should have pointed out in my previous post

that WA's Liquor Control Board are talking about limiting the amount of THC in every strand so there's a distinct "Medical strand" and "recreational strand."

Any product like Hash, Honey oil, wax, keef will still be considered "illegal" because it's basically concentrated THC, as I'm sure you all know already ;)

Which, again, will drive the market back to black. My guy says his butter/oil part of the business has never been better, because people are realizing that you don't have to smoke an entire bowl to get high.

On top of that, a lot of people here (WA) are using oil so they can take their vape-pen to parties/bars and be a little more discreet while still having fun.

I still can't get over the fact that you can't die from THC. Boggles the mind, no?

and those who grow 'underground' will be able to get higher prices too. The medicinal industry made the prices drop(which is good) but too low IMO. It takes a lot of work to grow. I think people on all ends of the MJ industry are going to see increased prosperity in CO this coming year.

I have a few sources telling me that

the black market will be better than ever if the LCB here in WA tries to control THC content to 15% (currently proposed for recreational strands).

Government: making thigs worse again.

fireant's picture

By "people on all ends of the MJ industry", you mean cops too?

Lol. I figure the roadblock checkpoints leading out of Co will be doing a bang up business too.
