I just saw 7 cops in 1 HOUR

I went on a drive to get something to eat in another city. Before crossing into the next city I noticed a local cop in my rear view. I wasn't doing anything wrong, but I thought to myself well at least I'll be out of his jurisdiction soon in case he's having a bad day.

I got to the restaurant and saw a county sheriff's officer IN the restaurant. Whatever, they have to eat too! At least no robberies should happen now.

He seemed to get a call because he left pretty soon after sitting down. While eating and looking out the window I saw a local cop for the city I was in, then a few minutes later a sheriff's car drive by (not sure if same as earlier).

I thought well there are enough police out today. I left the restaurant and as I was driving back this lady was tailgating me. I thought, yeah keep it up, there are plenty of police. Sure enough at the next red light a state highway patrol car went through the intersection. I said ha! Then a few minutes later another sheriff's car. I'm like wow and start counting. Several blocks away I saw yet another sheriff's car, for a total of 7 different cops in less than 1 hour.

I know there are extra patrols for New Year's, but on Jan 2nd too? When I was growing up you almost never saw a cop, only when something happened. Things were slower then of course and fewer people, but all these extra people can't be committing that many crimes! Be safe out there everyone! We don't need liberty fighters tangled up in legal and regulatory messes.

Lots of new traffic laws went

Into effect jan 1st, so I am sure a lot of municipalities are taking advantage of that.

This is an Everyday Occurrance For Me!

I live in Newport, Oregon and between here and Lincoln City, we have more police per capita than anywhere else in the country and they justify it by blaming it on the fact that this is a tourist area. Well tourism is way down in the winter but the number of police do not go down during the winter.

they're just there to protect you, from yourself

if you haven't committed a crime you have almost nothing to worry about.
you're way more likely to get killed by a terrorist than a cop, or is it the other way around, i don't know, all i know for sure is "We've always been at war with Eastasia".

Three Felonies A Day: How the Feds Target the Innocent

The average professional in this country wakes up in the morning, goes to work, comes home, eats dinner, and then goes to sleep, unaware that he or she has likely committed several federal crimes that day. Why? The answer lies in the very nature of modern federal criminal laws, which have exploded in number but also become impossibly broad and vague.

I live in a Bad neighborhood

but really not bad. It is consider the worst part of town but it is really safe. Cops are on the street every single day. I pretty much know every single officer who works for my town because they basically work on my street 24-7. My town is so boring and the only action is on my street but it is always just minor crap

7 cops in 1 hour and you

7 cops in 1 hour and you weren't shot, tazed, pepper sprayed or colonicly violated - that's gotta be a record! Call Guinness now!

Are you in a county with a lot of snow?

I was thinking they might have been spread along a main highway to head out to the various mishaps.
