Detroit Police Chief calls for more armed citizens

Detroit’s police chief has caused a stir by calling for private citizens to be armed. Chief James Craig stated on Thursday that armed citizens deter crime and called for more law-abiding citizens to exercise their Second Amendment Rights.

Saddled with debt, poverty, and high crime rates, Detroit is a city on the verge of collapse. As its population continues its sharp decline, capital is also drained from the city. Last year it became the first major US municipality to declare bankruptcy. As poverty increases, crime inevitably rises.

Guns save lives.

This is my comment on the Detroit News article. I live just across Eight Mile Road in Macomb County.

I'm a member of Michigan Open Carry, Inc. I have a CPL but I open carry every day everywhere I go. I am welcomed wherever I go except by the uninformed management at Oakland Mall and my local Vietnam Veterans' post. Bad guys don't "shop" where the customers are armed.

Robyn Thomas, director of the the Law Center to Prevent Gun Violence in San Francisco is a radical leftist with an agenda of gun confiscation. He doesn't care about facts. He is proven wrong by armed citizens everyday.

Gun owners no longer have to defend their right to defend themselves and other citizens. Their record stands alone and Chief Craig recognizes that. I applaud him for having the guts to stand up alone and tell the world that armed Americans make our country safer

It only takes one to KEEP AMERICANS FREE. Know your duties & rights as a juror. Stop the unconstitutional conviction of innocents in federal custody. The Fully Informed Jury CALL 1-800-TEL-JURY www.fija.org IMMEDIATELY if not sooner. It's that important.

I've been in TN for over 10

I've been in TN for over 10 years now but lived in Detroit area for 5 years prior to that. In fact, I worked right down the road from Oakland Mall. Things really have gotten bad up there since I left. I couldn't imagine being in the area without having some kind of protection. I actually lived on 9 mile for almost 2 years with no weaponry at all. But that's before I became more enlightened about our rights, Constitution, and history. I am very happy to hear Chief Craig using common sense to help protect his city. Hopefully, that kind of attitude will prevail all over when things get worse.

Finally...

Finally they are starting to see the light !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! When the democrats start to see the value of the second amendment there hope for this country.

After speaking with several officers...

They convey the same thought.

The city is like the wild wild midwest...

"No army can stop an idea whose time has come"

Glad to hear it.

In other words: More Guns. Guns Protect.

Smith & Wesson should oblige by building a factory in the Motor City to bring some jobs back to Detroit.

Good point
