When we try to pick out anything by itself, we find it hitched to everything else in the Universe.

the furnace repair man said this summer that our furnace is too big for our house. It seems just fine to me.
time is 12:47 Temp is -10 with 30 mph wind making it feel like -35.

Looks like SuspiciousOberservers was right.
On some great and glorious day, the plain folks of the land will reach their heart's desire at last and the White House will be occupied by a downright fool and complete narcissistic moron.
Wow! It's in the 50's along the East Coast (NY/New England), though not for long. It'll be freezing again by tonight, when everything wet from today's rain will turn to ice. And freezing temperatures will remain through the new snowstorm-turned-ice-storm due by the weekend. Well, might as well enjoy it while it lasts!
There is a mechanism for cleimate change.

Thanks. I did enjoy it. I'll have to check out that group.
I remember back in 1974 while living in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota I had to go out with a crew at 1:00 am to changeout a failed transformer for a hotel in town. Was -37 deg. F. Wasn't bad, no wind made the difference.
Detroit Lakes is my neck of the woods!
But we are in Edmonton Canada. Thats with wind chill.
....Catskills, NY checking in.
Here's the latest...hope everyone is safe and warm.
Sending warm thoughts your way!

Trying to find a window of opportunity to get the Motorhome to southern, warmer climates....it's been one thing after another though.
In the meantime...let's go drinking with Bob; Enjoy!

Old news ... Major parts of the USA have been experiencing colder temperatures and higher precipitation since early December. This current arctic air mass is the second one since early December. Northern Canadians have been experiencing record lows for some time. It's entirely possible that most of the USA will experience an early thaw this spring, but it might not either. We'll see.
I pity the folks living east of the Mississippi River since the extremely humid conditions just add to their misery. There's a price for all the greenery. ;)
throughout Minnesota for Monday Jan. 6th. They are expecting record cold temps to invade Minnesota.
Hard to believe that I had a ewe just give birth to a lamb on the coldest day so far I think it was -17F. That lamb is the smallest I have seen and is doing just fine. I am usually there helping dry lambs with blow drier when temps are so cold. This one snook out on his own.

Beeman, what happens to your bees in the winter? I've always wondered.
they cluster in the hive and keep it about 70 degrees in the center. When days start getting longer they bring the temp up to 90 degrees and start raising new bees, preparing for spring. When bees die out in winter they die because it stays cold too long and they can't move the cluster over new honey stores. In the 1970's beekeepers would loose 25% to winter loses, now it's more like 70 to 100%. The bees die from the poisonous pollen they collected from last summer and not from the cold. I have had bees on and off for 40 years and never seen problems we are facing now.
I am more worried about GMO corn that is so laced with pesticides and formaldehyde that it kills bees for just flying over the fields. I think I will be completely out of bees by this spring. If we as humans think we can continue the poisoning of all insects and wildlife and get away with it is just stupid. The rural population is already dying of cancer at a higher rate than city dwellers.
I find it just amazing that all Mosquitoes will completely disappear by August here in SW Minnesota.
i think I saw a -17 already up in Minnesota. Should only drop further. It might be cold enough to throw water in the air and it'll turn to snow immediately.
It is 71 in Texas Panhandle today, and freaking beautiful for once. Wierd.
It was 45 here yesterday and I was bummed out.
Until I saw that!!!
