Erick Erickson exposes Peter King's terrorist past after questioning Rand Paul's patriotism

Rep. Peter King of New York Supported a Soviet Backed Terrorist Group

By: Erick Erickson (Diary) | January 5th, 2014 at 02:54 PM

Rep. Peter King lashed out at Senator Rand Paul today over Sen. Paul’s position on the National Security Agency.

In a bit of hysteria, he questioned Senator Paul’s patriotism and loyalty to the United States. This is pretty rich considering Rep. Peter King, during the Cold War, supported a Soviet backed terrorist group responsible for killing many.

King, ardently supported the Irish Republican Army. The intelligence agencies Peter King is now falling all over himself to support, knew the IRA was a terrorist group. The organization tried to assassinate Margaret Thatcher. They killed a number of people close to her. They killed members of the British Royal Family. And they killed many Irishmen. But Peter King stood by ignoring the blood on his own hands.

The IRA also had Stalin’s blessing and during the Cold War collaborated with the Soviets against American and British interests.

And Peter King stood by them.

Peter King Raised Money for Terrorists While They Were Murdering American Allies

By: Erick Erickson (Diary) | January 6th, 2014 at 01:35 PM | 6

John McCain really captures the essence of Peter King.

There is little in Mr. King’s singularly unimpressive legislative record to suggest that he is motivated by anything other than a compulsion to utter provocative sound bites. I have never met a single other Republican who felt that Mr. King spoke for the party or for any Republican other than himself. Indeed, the only Republican organization I have ever noticed Mr. King represents is the Irish Republican Army.

The sick and tragic irony is that the GOP put in charge of the Committee on Homeland Security a man who raised money for a terrorist organization while that organization was murdering American allies. That’s right. While the IRA was running terror operations throughout Ireland and Britain, Peter King was a huge supporter. King was even thrown out of a Northern Ireland courtroom during a trial because the judge determined he was an IRA collaborator.

And that guy is now the Chairman of the Homeland Security Committee.

He probably has a stadium full of skeletons in his closet

He's probably just trying to cover his own ass.

Redstate shouldn't be throwing the word "terrorist" around

Peril from 'patriots'
The U.S. needs to keep a close watch on the growing threat of home-grown extremist groups.

There are, in increasingly frightening numbers, cells of angry men in the United States preparing for combat with the U.S. government. They are usually heavily armed, blinded by an intractable hatred, often motivated by religious zeal.

They're not jihadists. They are white, right-wing Americans, nearly all with an obsessive attachment to guns, who may represent a greater danger to the lives of American civilians than international terrorists.

...

These groups should be closely monitored, with resources adequate to the task, even if it means shifting some homeland security money from the hunt for foreign terrorists.

Here ya go OP :)

Could care less about Peter King

and am meh about Rand but:

"King, ardently supported the Irish Republican Army. The intelligence agencies Peter King is now falling all over himself to support, knew the IRA was a terrorist group. The organization tried to assassinate Margaret Thatcher. They killed a number of people close to her. They killed members of the British Royal Family. And they killed many Irishmen. But Peter King stood by ignoring the blood on his own hands."

Is not really attacking someone on solid ground. The struggle for Irish independence from British rule and the IRA is history that is well documented. (This is all like 100+ years ago but ...) Take a people fighting for independence, their leaders enter into treaty that is highly unpopular with the rank and file (ie. US analogy would be a NATO disarmament treaty). Civil war breaks out and the side clamoring for independence loses. However, it doesn't fully end there like the US Civil War where certain regions such as the south could be occupied and reconstructed. Russia meddling in the affairs of other countries really isn't any different than the CIA training and arming Bin Laden.

If King is an ass an argument of association to an IRA backed by Soviets is a pretty piss poor argument. Why would you solely focus on something so weak? Isn't there plenty of other crap actually relevant to the US not related to someones opinions on the internal affairs of other countries King could be criticized for?

Again, why would you focus on trying to attack someone for events in other countries having nothing to do with any threat to the US? What American and British interests specifically? Who gives a shit about British interests?

Peter King

is completely unhinged. I'll go out on a limb and say that he never served in the military. Comes across as a typical chickenhawk

Wow!

A red-statist neocon turning on a fellow Israeli firster neocon? The bottom line must be shrinking.

Yeah - King is an A-HOLE if there ever was one.

War-Monger, Neo-Con, hypocrite, traitor and chief Ron/Rand Paul hater.

"We have allowed our nation to be over-taxed, over-regulated, and overrun by bureaucrats. The founders would be ashamed of us for what we are putting up with."
