Satanic Church Proposes Daemon Statue Baphomet To Be Placed At Oklahoma State house

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK - The Satanic Temple in New York City is working on a new monument that is being built to erect at the Oklahoma Statehouse. The statue of Baphomet will sit at 7 feet tall and feature the goat-headed daemon flanked on either side by two children.

“The monument has been designed to reflect the views of Satanists in Oklahoma City and beyond. The statue will serve as a beacon calling for compassion and empathy among all living creatures. The statue will also have a functional purpose as a chair where people of all ages may sit on the lap of Satan for inspiration and contemplation,” spokesman Lucien Greaves explained.

Why do this even rile people

Why do this even rile people up?

Christianity, or satanism. Exactly the same thing. And I do see a couple of churches around. So if they want some stupid statue on a corner...

This is exactly why mankind moves forward so slowly. We get stuck debating totally irrelevant issues. This is one of them.

Next! :)

For a little clarification here....

...this isn't the Church of Satan doing this.

Here is their view of this....

Oklahoma Monument Proposal

When asked about our views regarding Satanic monuments, Magus Gilmore has explained why we are against such things, here and here.

When shown an image of a proposed monument intended to represent Satanism for a public space in Oklahoma, this is what Magus Gilmore had to say:

"The statue is crudely designed and ugly to me and seems pedophilic, since the caduceus between the goat’s legs is a phallic symbol. Having children reaching towards a being with an exposed symbolic penis seems to imply that Satanism represents the same situation which has plagued the Roman Catholic and other Christian churches for some time: child abuse. The image appears to show the goat’s left hand possibly caressing the male child. Revolting.

"The Church of Satan requires members to be legally adult and Satanist parents teach their children comparative religion and philosophy so that our children may decide which religion or philosophy would suit their own natures. We do not indoctrinate our offspring, or anyone else’s, and that statue could be seen as symbolic of indoctrination, which is manifestly counter to our philosophy.

"It occurs to me that the efforts by the perpetrators of this proposal may be intended as a means for making Satanism appear foolish and just as dysfunctional and irrational as we secularists view most other religions to be."

Magus Peter H. Gilmore

"To Sit On The Lap Of Satan To Contemplate"

Alright, everyone.

I am not a Religious Fanatic (these days one must clarify because of how twisted Christianity has become...wolves in Sheep's Clothing everywhere) but...two things. Actually 3.

#1: The fact that "they" built this statue with TWO CHILDREN on each side of Baphomet is ENOUGH TO WANT TO SMASH IT INTO 666 PIECES.

#2: The fact that this statue also serves as a "chair" and the following statement is SO HYSTERICAL and ridiculous I could not stop laughing:"To Sit On The Lap Of Satan To Contemplate"

And...#3: SURPRISE.

It would be interesting if a group of CITIZENS CONCERNED FOR THE WELFARE OF CHILDREN (...this "group" has already indicated an interest in children built into the statue) were to INVESTIGATE WHO THESE GROUP'S MEMBERS ARE, WHERE THEY LIVE AND IF THEY INCLUDE CHILDREN IN THEIR ACTIVITIES.

The elite are so in our faces these days. This statute is no different than all the other sinister sites. Anyone ever been to the Denver airport?

satanism is akin to free marketeering

just as the term free market is a meaningless zeitgeber in the keynesian paradigm, free satanism has manipulated spiritual direction in the name of any other metaphor besides the trinitarian rebirth. Both the death and life worship is acceptable to satanists as long as there is no light by example such as Jesus.

I see Satanism as a school for conductive reasoning, a false relationship with God based on a metaphor to expound upon conducting the light rather than letting the light be to reveal God in nature.

Satanism is an attempt at true artificial intelligence, where the design has been removed from Gods existence in leading individual beginnings to natures true endings.

Satanism seeks to divide aspects of Individuals from aspects of Christians by delegating spiritual power in a game where God becomes first unapparent, then unimplied, then ceases revelation at all.

*Imagine planting a food forest, and you have sown seeds; 75% supporter plants and 25% edible food plant expecting 5000 apples and 10000 pears. Your supporter plants form a compatible relationship that attracts a certain lizard in which reduces flies by 50% and you achieve 5X more apples.

God reflects the unexpected, but the purpose of your path towards God is what led to Gods reflection at all.

By beginning to act towards God you achieve a completely natural (unartificial) condition where God can reveal as apparently as you can begin all of your beginnings for Gods ends to reflects Gods endings...

but to say there is no God reflects what ending??

it appears to me atheists and satanists have the just as many personified ends to pursue as those they claim adversaries in the catholic church.

God is no one man, but natures psychological reciprocal metaphor for humans beginning towards natures/Gods endings.

The only problem I have is that the organization that wants to

put the devil statue up if not from Oklahoma.

The Catholic Church is now engaged in training more exorcists

to combat a growing evil permeating the world. Don't poo-pooh this. You may not like Catholicism but, the Catholic hierarchy knows a lot more than they make public on that subject. I've even heard a non-Catholic minister say that when it comes to casting out evil spirits in a person, don't fool around; call a Catholic priest and get the job done right.

As a side note, Catholic exorcists are thoroughly trained to know the difference between mental illness and actual possession and act accordingly. What is fascinating to me is that the Church has concluded that more exorcists are needed today. I don't doubt it.

anyone, who has accepted Christ, can cast out demons. It is very easy to do. The last person I would call is some idiot catholic priest.

Definition of irony...

I was watching Fox News debate this issue (don't ask me why, it was cold outside and I was tired of watching South Park reruns) and I saw the definition of irony.

David Silverman, a Jewish atheist is amused at the idea of erecting a statue of Baphomet (an image worshiped by the Roman Catholic Knights Templar in the 14th century that has had little connection with the biblical accounts of the adversary before the 19th century when it was revived by Eliphas Levi, another Romanist who left seminary just shy of being ordained), and what we have for representation on the other side of the issue is a rabbi (who was eloquent in his arguments, I must say) and the head of the Catholic League Bill Donahue.

Sadly the Protestant majority that originally founded America has little to say on this issue, probably because they aren't the majority anymore.

“My attitude toward progress has passed from antagonism to boredom. I have long ceased to argue with people who prefer Thursday to Wednesday because it is Thursday.” - G.K. Chesterton

This is just a question.

How can one be a Jewish atheist? Can people be a Catholic atheist, or an Anglican atheist?
How can you be an atheist if you are defined by your religion?

Being Jewish doesn't only pertain to belief.

If you visit any official Jewish website dealing with the subject, according to the whole of the Jewish world, who your mother is determines whether or not you are Jewish. For example, Christopher Hitchens' mother was Jewish, so despite the fact that he was Baptized into the Anglican Church, switched over to Eastern Orthodoxy, and ended up renouncing religion altogether further down the road, he is considered a Jew by the Jewish people.

And surprisingly enough, if you crack open Hitchens' popular little book "God Is Not Great", he actually alludes to the fact that in several places that he visited over the years, namely Belfast, that upon going through various checkpoints, when he was asked his religion and responded that he was an atheist, their next question was "Catholic atheist or Protestant atheist?". Indeed, even the likes of George Carlin and Dan Savage have stated in the past that there is a cultural aspect of Catholicism that endures even when one abandons belief in God.

From my perspective, anyone who deviates from the established orthodoxies of the canon of Christianity is a de facto atheist, but it is nevertheless useful for differentiating and identifying various quirks within this spectrum by noting one's origins, be they racial, religious, or national.

People who are born into a Jewish family are judged JEWS no matter what they do. There are many JEWS who have never stepped into a temple, never were bar/batmispha, never took Hebrew class, but they have a name, or a sur name, and they have features.. and people identify them as JEW.

I'll never forget when I told my Mom I had met a new friend and told my Mom my friend's name.. first thing she said was, "They're a Jew!"

I said, "They are?"

I didn't know anything about Jews or Christians growing up, my father forbade any relationship with "believers" (he HATED them with a passion,, a violent passion". So maybe my Mom was trying to look out for me?).

So I asked, "Why did you say they are a Jew?".. She said, "Their name is Jewish, they are a Jew".

I said, "They may have a Jewish name, but they are not Jewish."

She said, "They were born a Jew and they are a Jew no matter what they say."

So.. my father the Objectivist, who shoved Ayn Rand at me and told me, "If you want to talk to me, you need to read this book, "Atlas Shrugged" before I'll speak with you." I read "Atlas Shrugged" when I was 16 (needed a dictionary)..

He says, "Your mother tells me that you are seeing a Jew. Is that right?" I say, "No, my friend is not a Jew."

He says, "They have a Jewish name, so they are a Jew."

I say, "Just because they have a Jewish name does not make them a Jew."

He says, "Like HELL it doesn't!" You need to wise up kid. No Jew is welcome here. So I say, "Ayn Rand is a Jew." He says. "No she's not, she changed her name, and if your friend knows what's good for them, they will change their name because Jews will NEVER be accepted in this world. They will always be a target, and if you make friends with Jews, YOU will be a target."

Looks like he was right about some things, eh?

Many Jews converted to Catholic, born and raised Catholic, and were shocked when Hitler's forces came to their doors and accused them of being JEWS.

Ayn Rand is an Atheist, she was born Jewish, and for many, she is still a Jew, just doing more of the Jew triickery when not killing little Christan boys for their blood to make matza.

Disagree about the Templars.

Odds are really good that those charges were fabricated, made in response to paranoia over the Templars' growing wealth and influence.

After the intial nastiness, they were actually pretty cool dudes all things considered. They ended up getting into banking, of all things, which is decidedly more productive than "KILL ALL MUSLIMS."

Possible, but not likely.

The fanaticism of many parties involved in the crusades likely led to some bizarre forms of idolatry and ritualistic worship that went way off the radar, and it probably wasn't unique to the Templars, but I don't think it was fabricated, nor is there any evidence that there was fabrication apart from modern day revisionists who thinks that there weren't any honest historians between the Fall of Rome and the 19th Century.

Nevertheless, even if the Templars were framed, it means that Rome cooked up the character of Baphomet to serve that end, which still ties in with the origins of said image and where Levi most likely found out about it when he brought it back in the 1800s. Likewise, I find it amusingly ironic that a collection of Jewish atheists seem quite permissive and even approving of a Roman Catholic created rendering of Satan yet have a conniption every time they see a Nativity Scene, a Cross or a publication of the 10 Commandments.

This is AWESOME!!!

"Sit on the lap of Satan." That is a riot. Who could pass up the opportunity to snap a pic at this monument?

I would love

to take my sledge hammer and deface the statue.

Well how far away are you?

I'm pretty sure there will be a 'defacing party' if this monstrosity every makes it to fruition. We've all seen the video of Saddam's statue being pulled down. Don't think it won't happen here. If it wasn't for outside agitators from New York, this wouldn't even be happening. If Oklahoma satanist want to try and get something like this done, then I'm all for them trying. Unfortunately for them they wouldn't live long once they made their faces and names known. I'm not condoning the eventual ends of these people, I'm just stating what I believe to be a fact.

Interesting fact, more people have been killed in the name of "god" than have ever been killed in the name of "satan." So remind me again which one is supposed to be evil?

Im pretty sure your

own "god" says:

—Matthew 5:38–5:42 KJV

38. Ye have heard that it hath been said, An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth:
39. But I say unto you, That ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also.
40. And if any man will sue thee at the law, and take away thy coat, let him have thy cloke also.
41. And whosoever shall compel thee to go a mile, go with him twain.
42. Give to him that asketh thee, and from him that would borrow of thee turn not thou away.

And my personal favorite as it most aptly applies to the spirit of Libertarianism. Matthew 7:1-3 (King James Version)

1. Judge not, that ye be not judged.

2. For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again.

3. And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye?

You people cant even be philosophically consistent with your own "religious truths" the New Testament and specifically the gospels are the apostles personal account of the teachings of Christ. An eyewitness account of the actual words of Christ.

yes and to those who worship

yes and to those who worship satan, he is their god. And many have been killed in his name. I can think of 60 million in this nation alone.

I am no satanist...

I think all religion is silly and irrational.

And to watch a bunch of, I am assuming, "good Christians," discuss firing weapons towards a statue, a statue that would be located on the property of a government building, like your local court house or city hall...

Is it a stretch to call that "crazy and violent?"

I'm sure that is "What Jesus would want" right?

But satanists do not believe in supernatural "gods or anti-gods." They are rationalists. They do not believe in a literal afterlife or in a literal "lord." Apparently, to satanists, "Satan" is an "archetype," a "figurine" of strength.

Satanists call supernatural beliefs silly. They instead hold their beliefs based on logic and rationalism. They believe what they believe "because it makes sense," and they take pride in being able to make sense of it.

Again I am no satanist; I am an atheist. But I tend to side with rationality, logical consistency, and non-aggression.
