When Mayor Nystrom sees this you're done
Hasta la vista, baby
But she definitely resonates with this resentful Sicilian
Anyone else at this point and time feel like her? I sure do.
but I didn't go into resignation. I worked around the system.
She rails against code enforcement. This is valid but instead of fighting them when I rebuilt my house, I learned the codes and adhered to them. I rewired every bit of the old electrical from outlet and switch all the way to the power pole. I put the meter right next to the alley so they could read it without trespassing. I also split it there and sent the garage panel its own feed (60 Amp) that doesn't subtract or dim my home's 200 Amp panel. They didn't like that but it was in THEIR code. Same stuff with the plumbing.
Then when I got frustrated about their intrusion into our lives, I searched out the common denominator. That was both code (health, safety, etc.) and sales regulation. When you realize this, you also realize that if people adhere to the codes (which aren't too bad usually) and don't try to sell regulated stuff, they have lost their power. I can't speak to the raw milk thing (haven't figured out a work-around yet) but in produce and gardening, I built a single family sized home aquaponics system. It produces all the family needs from normal garden stuff plus tilapia/perch and shrimp. Since the family is not selling the stuff, there's no hassle.
Same with electric power. My solar system is fully backed up so should the red tape become too hasslesome, you can just go off grid. If they don't allow going off grid, do as the guy did in MT (??) where his grid connection is connected to a switch and one LED bulb of .02 watts. He then wired 12 volt stuff to everything else that doesn't need his inverter. The solar is not connected in any way to the grid. PIA but it works.
You get to that point then you get past it into what is known as resignation.
Rather than trying to change the world we're better off spending our time on scheming to avoid the a$$holes. If I had any intelligence at all I'd take my own advice.

Damn, I'm in LOVE!
I do; however, support the context of her angry rant.
