Woman unconscious later dies after EMS delayed due to George Washington Bridge closure

FORT LEE – Emergency responders were delayed in attending to four medical situations – including one in which a 91-year-old woman lay unconscious – due to traffic gridlock caused by unannounced closures of access lanes to the George Washington Bridge, according to the head of the borough’s EMS department.

The woman later died, borough records show.

In at least two of those instances, response time doubled, noted EMS coordinator Paul Favia, who documented those cases in a Sept. 10 letter to Mayor Mark Sokolich, which The Record obtained.

On Sept. 9, the first day of the traffic paralysis, EMS crews took seven to nine minutes to arrive at the scene of a vehicle accident where four people were injured, when the response time should have been less than four minutes, he wrote.

It also took EMS seven minutes to reach an unconscious 91-year-old woman who later died of cardiac arrest at a hospital. Although he did not say her death was directly caused by the delays, Favia noted that “paramedics were delayed due to heavy traffic on Fort Lee Road and had to meet the ambulance en-route to the hospital instead of on the scene.”

Christie is a complete piece

Christie is a complete piece of you know what. He and Hillary should be running mates.

I was not looking forward to Rand debating Christie

in the next primary presidential election cycle ... so now we wont have to endure that. Christie is toast.

This should preclude Chris

This should preclude Chris Christie from even thinking he can run for POTUS. And to the person(s) responsible, they should be held liable for felonious sabatage if not voluntary manslaughter.

And I wish them all luck with that for the politics played.

And you think Hillary is fit for the White House?

Be Your Own Media!!!

Not only has she been on Judicial Watch's Most Corrupt Politicians list on numerous occasions, but she was fired from the Watergate committee for ethics/fraud violations--that is how many years ago she was already corrupt!! Watergate/Nixon!!

I do wish the general populace would research candidates prior to voting (not that I trust voting anyway, but eventually do believe we will again have 'clean elections') for them.

Edit to Add: I don't know if it's my very old computer or if this site has upgraded beyond my very old computer's capabilities...but for about 2 weeks now this site runs soooooooo slow! I cannot stand it! I can rarely upvote or downvote. I can rarely even get a thread to open. I get a lot of error readings that say my browser is not completing the request. I don't seem to have problems at other sites.

And this is why some of us clamp down on every

"bring traffic to a hault" idea that has ever come up. At the very least, life saving emergency services and disaster response needs to get through. Imagine if a fire department was stuck and an apartment building was on fire.

I hope the survivors of the deceased press for criminal charges.

There is nothing strange about having a bar of soap in your right pocket, it's just what's happening.

Yep I want criminal charges pressed too

The beauty will be if they press charges against Christie's aide. It would be incredible for the aide to the cut a deal for a lesser sentence but she'd implicate Christie in this whole thing. We need these politicians to be exposed as the frauds and criminals they are in order to wake up the public.
