"Cold Weather Due to Global Warming!"

President Obamas 'science' adviser explains that recent cold weather is due to global warming! and expect more extreme cold weather in higher frequency...

I hate how they always show seasonal ice melting in time-lapse to help 'prove' their point... and people fall for it. I am guessing they think the record ice cap is due to global warming as well? What do you guys think DP??

War causes Peace (after all the warriors have killed each other

It is hard to imagine a more stupid or more dangerous way of making decisions than by putting those decisions in the hands of people that pay no price for being wrong.

Humans can't change much

The reality is that people that believe in this global warming bullcrap think that they are somehow almighty and have the power to change the Earth. The Earth could care less what we do to it. We can cut down every tree in this world, bomb every inch with nuclear weapons, dump all the horrible chemicals into the oceans, pump all of the evil CO2 into the air, and the Earth could care less. A few thousand years, nothing in Earth's time, and everything would be back to normal, whatever normal is.

Earth has a startling ability to just keep coming back. Big giant meteor destroy most life on Earth, but then all this new life just comes out of nowhere, including humans. Big giant volcanoes erupt, kills a whole bunch of life, and then it comes back again. Big giant tsunamis destroys thousands of miles of coast lines, then it just sprouts back up and everything is okay.

How about people worry about improving the standard of living with freedom that allows for jobs to be created and more stuff to be produces and more food to be grown, well I guess I am preaching to the quire.

I believe the Term is

As in the world revolves around an egomaniac or self-important person.

You did put it all into perspective.
On another note:
It's "choir" NOT "quire".

I agree and don't

He is correct that a single event does not prove or disprove a climate change hypothesis. It is a pattern of events that matters. The alarmists base their computer models on a hypothesis. According to these models the earth should be warming because that is what the hypothesis says. That should be the pattern not to be contradicted by a single event. Yet real temperature data reveals the computer models are wrong and there has been no measurable increase in global temperatures for around two decades. At the same time, the concentration of CO2 in the air continues to rise. The data doesn't verify the models. The models are based on the hypothesis. The data indicate the models and hypothesis are flawed since they have no predictive ability.

These guys just will not give it up. I read that some of the alarmists now hypothesize that the recent decrease in solar activity has masked global warming. Looked at in another way, could it not be that the preceding high level of solar activity had masked global cooling caused by the burning of fossil fuels instead?

Cold is the new hot!

Global warming is something

Global warming is something the media came up with. Climate change is real.

Climate change is real.

Has been for about 4 billion years. Man made climate change however is something new created to bilk the masses of their wealth.

Nobody knows. There are way too many permutations to factor

Tundra melting
algae blooms
Ocean current changes
Super volcanoes
Asteroid hits
Snow and cloud reflectance and land absorption rates
Bovine flatulence
Water vapor
Phase change energy gains and losses between ice, water and vapor
Trace gasses
Amazon rain forest politics
Changing human fuel usage
Asphalt related solar absorption
Internet and computer related dissolution of cities
Technology making pollution reducing inroads into 3rd world countries
Melting & buildup of snow. Reflects & doesn't radiate heat. Insulates.
Population growth and loss rates.
Nuclear power plant leakage and effects on plankton, etc.
Future wars.
I'll bet there are a hundred contributing factors that the "Scientists" know nothing about, and I haven't gone into the unintended consequences of intentional monkeying with the environment by politicians.

It's way too complex. Although, that won't stop anybody.

"Timid men prefer the calm of despotism to the tempestuous sea of liberty" TJ

good point

wayyyy too many factors to blame on one thing. It really is comical that they try to pin it on CO2. Check out CO2 levels over the 'recent' geologic record and their "correlation" to avg. temp:

Climate Alarmist only look back at the past few decades. It really amazes me that scientist will support this kind off mularky. I wonder what/who gives them incentive....

Of course

Becuz hotter weather is due to global cooling lol

The agenda is to centrally control energy.

The federal government has a monopoly on nuclear power, fossil fuel competitors are targeted for quashing.

Once the competition is extinguished, NSA data and Smart Meters will be used to reward or punish wrong thinking.

Estimates are not facts

Up until 2009, NOBODY knew how much ice was on either pole. As you probably all remember, you need 3 axis of measurement to give volume. LxWxH. Before 2009, the only measurement that could be proven was EXTENT, i.e. how much area the ice covered. Thickness was always estimated and could never be verified.

Then CryoSat came along in 2009. It measures REAL volume, and also records how much multi-year ice, which is the best sign of a "healthy" ice cap, is in the pole. Well, guess what? The 3+ years that the satellite has been giving data show that the Arctic cap is GROWING.

In the end, it is all ridiculous, because this planet has cycles. The caps grow, they shrink, there are mini Ice Ages, and there are periods of warmth. Since before the industrial revolution. Do we need to reduce pollution? Sure. Do Al Gore and his buddies need to get rich by forcing us to pay for technologies that don't work? Nope.

Here is a link to CryoSat. http://www.esa.int/Our_Activities/Observing_the_Earth/CryoSa...

The Polar Ice Caps On Planet Mars Are Dynamic As Well

NASA has observed for decades this particular planetary phenomena is not unique to Earth (see http://www.grc.nasa.gov/WWW/K-12/rocket/mars.html ). The second sentence in the second paragraph states that, "Similar to the Earth, Mars has ice caps at the poles which grow and shrink with the seasons."

Maybe eons ago indigenous martians had an industrialization program on a global scale and Eco-terrorists forced the population to leave the planet so that it would be left for invading Earthlings to plunder its natural resources. :)

Didn't watch the video.

The solar system is changing:

Wind Speeds on Venus increasing
Venus's rotation is slowing down
Mars' Warming
Saturn's super storm came early and lasted waaaaay longer than usual
Jupiter lost a band
Jupiter's red spot found a companion

Climate change is most likely driven by our Sun. Not us.

We are currently in a WEAK solar maximum or a GRAND SOLAR MINIMUM.

If the solar system is exhibiting such changes, why isn't Earth following suite? Yes we are experiencing climate change, but not on the scale that other planets are.

Our current solar climate is comparable to that of the 1600s, when the Maunder team of scientists discovered a deep solar minimum never observed before. During the so-called "Maunder Minimum" there were an unusual amount of cold winters in Europe. I don't think there's much evidence to point to the "mini ice-age" as being a global event.

At the end of they day... Humans have experienced this before, and survived. The weather might get crazier, but it'll pass.

yes people its getting colder because its getting hotter

if I may quote Robert Heinlein

There are but two ways of forming an opinion in science. One is the scientific method; the other, the scholastic. One can judge from experiment, or one can blindly accept authority. To the scientific mind, experimental proof is all-important and theory is merely a convenience in description, to be junked when it no longer fits. To the academic mind, authority is everything and facts are junked when they do not fit theory laid down by authority. “It is this point of view— academic minds clinging like oysters to disproved theories— that has blocked every advance of knowledge in history.

Didn't you see that this was already prophesied

in the movie Day After Tomorrow? Global warming will cause the next ice age and we will all have to go live in Mexico. Bummer.

Mass media. Go figure.

Predictive Programming at its best.

Wow - this just reminded me of the show "24"

Recall if you watched it, they had a black president (before we did) and then that president was killed, and his brother was then president.

Can you imagine that happening?
With the result being Obama's (half)brother being president??

Eh, couldn't be worse, could it?

Also recall that Jack was above the law and his organization spied on everyone... but that was cool, because he was fighting the bad guys (TERRORISTS!!!)

That show was all about programming the masses.

Watch it...

Don't be bashing Jack Bauer...he was the MAN!!!

Yep. Also, in a lot of cop

Yep. Also, in a lot of cop dramas and comedies you will see them come up to a persons house and one will say,

"Should we go inside?" And the other will say, "yeah lets snoop around a little. Nobody will know, don't be a wimp"

This is just predictive programming to normalize cops being able to search a house without a warrant.

In fact, most sitcoms are nothing more than social conditioning so you react to certain normal life events in specific ways. The Program is portraying what you think is normal because you assume it is based on normal life and you have no other reference point.

I can't hardly stand TV any more

I got rid of cable back last May and now anytime I watch TV it bugs me. First and foremost it is a 24 hour commercial. They are trying to sell you a snack, a car, a drink, or some other consumable. Or they are trying to sell you a collective (central planning) ideology or meme.

It truly reminds me of the Batman movie with the Riddler's Brain Box (or whatever it was called).

This year I have resolved to watch even less TV than I did last year.

BTW - I have replaced it with outdoor activities and reading. I've read Knowledge and Power, Good to Great, The Innovator's Way, and working on Anti-Fragility at the moment. While I have little clue as to who is going to the Super Bowl, I have a better understanding of what we can do to help rid our communities of Central Planning from Washington D.C.

Me, too. Stopped watching 7 years ago ...

Just as an experiment I went without the "Idiot's Lantern" (teevee) for one month. Couldn't believe how many hours of my life I wasted on their 'programing' (There's a reason they call it that).
The second month I sold both my big screen and the portable, no reason to keep them around.
Haven't missed it one little bit.
Now, every morning I read the (real) news online and listen to radio sometimes during the day. I get so much more done without the distraction the boob tube is meant to provide.
It's like ... a cleansing. And then feeling empowered.

So, good for you, Steve!

It's definitely the smart move to squeeze that box outa your daily routine.

7 years!? Looking forward to being able to say the same one day. Oddly enough quit smoking at the same time. Guess reaching 40 helped me recognize that we only get about 80 to 90 trips around the Sun and I didn't want to spend the rest of my time here lost in TV Land as much of my last 20 odd years had been.

You really don't realize how much better life is living your own until you stop living vicariously through the TV.

While I'm confident I'll stay away from the Idiot Box (as my Dad called it when I was young), it is nice to know that others have done so for a significant time without being drawn back in.
