GO BRONCOS! SEASON TICKET HOLDER SINCE 1962.

Since '62?

Wow, man. That's before I was born. As in, well before.

I remember the Elway days, because I was in Seattle back then, and Seattle was in the AFC West. I still like all those teams.

But not this time! Pats all the way. So are you going to be at the game on Sunday?

My parents have a huge Larget poster

with Largent wearing boxing gloves and a t-shirt that read "Raider Buster."

There's a picture of it.

AFC wins the Super Bowl

Denver and New England will bet the snot out of any remaining NFL team.

I think Denver

Niners vs. Patriots In Superbowl

Seattle's Wilson having trouble pulling the trigger. Too indecisive over the last 5 weeks..Niners win in a squeaker..

Thinking about making a little wager with M. Nystrom if Niners and Pats get in..

Maybe a Silver Eagle? Hummmm

Brady is a robot.

Some might say he throws like a machine. I say he throws like a robot. No personality.

Manning??? The greatest quarterback there ever was? Vs a robot?

C'mon. No question. If the pats win it will be because Brady was a robot. If the broncos win it will because manning was brilliant!

Séamusín

This is Seattle's turn.

After losing an entire NBA team to crony capitalism, (fuck you Clay Bennett and David Stern), the City of Seattle needs a championship party like none other.

And this is the year.

Let's go HAWKS!

That was a raw deal how Seattle lost the Sonics

I missed the whole thing. I got back from Taiwan, and I was looking over the NBA standings one day and was like, "Where's Seattle?!"

If you haven't seen it, here is an excellent documentary on the whole affair: SonicsGate.

You used to be able to watch the whole thing online for free, but now I guess you have to buy it.
http://www.amazon.com/Sonicsgate-Requiem-Team-Jason-Reid/dp/...

Excellent movie and well worth it if you're a Sonics fan. I was in the 5th grade when the won the Championship! My dad let me skip school and took me down to the parade.

Good luck to Seattle, but if it comes down to Seattle vs. the Pats, I'm sticking with my boy Brady.

Michael..

just noticed your krishnamurti quote; are you a student?

SonicsGate is still talked about

on the NBA network. Barkley called it "the best documentary he's ever seen." Obviously, Barkley was in Seattle's corner through the whole, dreadful process.

Truly envious you were privileged to see guys like Xavier "X-man" McDaniel, Jack Sikma, and DOWN TOWN Freddie Brown after "thee" Seattle victory.

I don't think Brady has seen a secondary like Seattle's, though. We played last year at home but you guys still had Welker and "Playboy" Gronkowski ;)

Michael Nystrom's picture

Yeah, those were the days in Seattle

DJ, Gus Williams, JJ, Lonnie Shelton and Jack Sikma. They were the bomb.

It all went down hill after they straight-up traded Dennis Johnson to Phoenix for Paul Westphal. Then a lot of those guys ended up in Boston. DJ did, and the X-man. So I kept one eye on Boston before I got here. KC Jones coached the Sonics for a year or two also.

I keep meaning to get around to writing an article "KC Jones and the Daily Paul." Keep your eye peeled for it.

Brady's problem this year is that he's got no one to throw to. I have no idea where that guy Blount came from. I left after for Taiwan after Week 6 and was gone the whole season, and don't recall ever hearing his name. Now he's the bomb.

The Pats are a running team now. Reminds me of the mid-80's Hawks and Ground Chuck. Were you around for that? Dave Krieg, Steve Largent and Curt Warner. Mainly Curt Warner up the middle for 3 on every play.

We'll see how things shake out. The Pats have to get through Denver first.

I noticed from the SonicsGate web page that the documentary is going to air on ESPN. Nice.

Hey, any word on Seattle getting a new NBA team? I remember hearing that Paul Allen was trying to make it happen, but haven't been following too closely, and haven't heard anything since.

Was I around for Largent/Krieg/Warner?!

Lol yes but barely. I was just getting into sports around the age of 7-8 and that's around when Largent retired. However, I am currently wearing a throw-back Largent Away jersey proudly at work. I feel like my hands can catch anything (and I hope they do in my flag football game tomorrow;).

As for the Sonics grabbing/acquiring a team: Chris Hansen is kinda leading the way on that whole movement now. The Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) has already been signed by all needed signatures, so a stadium will go up.

There has been more talk recently of expansion, but that's in "rumor phase" right now. Another big question to answer is when will Seattle see an NHL team? There's a huge fan base, mostly Canucks fans, but some minor-league fans exist as well (Sabercats, Thunderbirds, SilverTips).

But Mariners still suck. Even though they signed Canoe and have one of the best pitchers in the league (Felix).

I always get a little nervous when I see the Brady and your Patriots in the playoffs. They're like the Yankee's in post-season: magical.

Go Hawks!

Michael Nystrom's picture

The Pats haven't been so magical recently :)

In '07, I was happy they lost. I hadn't been here long enough, and I kind of hated them the way outsiders do. They were a little to hot that year; undefeated; running up the score. I wanted to see them lose.

I really got respect for them, and Brady, after he came back from the injury the following year. He was injured in the first game of '08 and sat out the whole season. And in '09, there was a lot of trepidation, but he put that all to rest pretty quick

And then in '11 they lost to the Eli and the Giants again! For me, that one hurt.

-

The nice thing about the Mariners is that they have a new manager, and that makes everything possible. The Red Sox had a disastrous year in 2012 under Bobby Valentine. I mean it was terrible. But they gave him the ax, got John Farrell in here and voila! They win the series. The M's have some good players. I hope they have a good year.

Wow - new stadium for the new Sonics? Where are they looking to build it?

Good luck on Sunday! Go Pats!

Going to be in the SoDo area

on 1st ave with the rest of the stadiums.

The M's have another 2-3 years before seeing some real progress, me thinks. Too many problem areas to discuss.

How about getting Cano?

Cano and Seager

Felix and Iwakuma

The Federal Reserve Act: Act To provide for the establishment of Federal reserve banks, to furnish an elastic currency, to afford means of rediscounting commercial paper, to establish a more effective supervision of banking in the United States

Definitely a step

in the right direction, but it doesn't solve all of the issues.

The M's are fortunate that Felix likes it in Seattle, because he would have been a Yankee or with some Californian team.

As for Cano: I hope the dense air doesn't effect his power hitting. It has for most hitters, but the M's haven't had a big hitter like Cano in a long time.

OMG! Live in the past or what?

The Steeler's have had PLENTY of bad calls against them that decided their loss of numerous games. Even this season they got boned. Did you hear any whining? No.

They don't cry like little babies. They are big boys. They just move on and take the good with the bad.

Who's living in the past now?

As far as I can tell, the 2014 final four is:

- New England
- Denver
- Seattle
- SF

That's why I can't for the life of me figure out what all these pictures of the Steelers are doing on here. They didn't even make the playoffs this year!

So tell me - who's living in the past again?

LOL!

I am NOT living in the past!

Just resting on their laurels...
and nursing the loss of this season's Super Bowl shot.
I was also born a Patriot Fan in Connecticut.
