Is how you can talk to your subconscious mind. (Because your subconscious mind doesn't speak English.)

"Whatever you hold in your mind on a constant basis is what you will experience in your life."

I just heard these thoughts in a movie: Hungry for Change. Also available on Netflix.

I used to visualize Ron Paul being president

Guess I need more practice!

Hi Michael

Have you been practicing?

Michael Nystrom's picture

I have

It works! It definitely works!

As with most of this "secret"

As with most of this "secret" stuff there's a lot of spooey around a central truth.

The people I admire most for what they've accomplished don't waste time trying to B.F. Skinner their unconscious mind. They know there's a far more direct route. WORK FOR WHAT YOU WANT TO ACCOMPLISH. They work for it creatively, strategically, with the best of their innate and learned skills.

The people who aren't up to all that actual work on the actual problem or desire like to read books like "The Secret" and watch dippy videos spawns. They're desperate for a work around the work. Instead of building relationships, then a database of folks who could help with an endeavor, then a plan of action, they build image walls to feed their subconscious minds with their desires and they send good thoughts into a caring universe attuned to the slightest shift in their particular vibration energy.

Okay, sure. Let's admit it works. If you've got the secret and use it, you'll more likely to go out on any given day and meet someone who fits with your goals or pay attention to an idea that will help you in your endeavor.

What such folks miss is that the person who doesn't have the secret, who has strategies and databases and acquired knowledge will meet five people that day and attend to five ideas.

The folks who get excited by this "secret" stuff are just so far behind the normal functioning person that they see miracles in the pay off of a little attention.

And this is where the core of truth comes in. Some folks aren't able to go after their goals and desires in a direct way. They don't feel worthy. There's been little in their lives thus far for them to give themselves any cred. They've earned little respect for themselves. And that stuff is a cloak around them that shields them from ideas, people, achieving.

The way to get past that is to prove otherwise to yourself. Go out and do what you want to do, at least try and at least fail grandly and at least learn and fail less next time. Prove to yourself that you're able and worthy. We all have to cajole ourselves, outwit ourselves, trick ourselves to get the job done. The folks who are drawn to this "secret" stuff need to perpetrate a lie on themselves.

Fine. As long as you know it's a stage, a transitory stage just to get to a stage of self worth in which you can begin dealing on a far more honest and efficient plane.

The Subconscious Mind...

is actually a dumping ground of buried and unwanted thoughts. Have you ever done something out of character and can not understand why. It is because of the unknown thoughts that lie in your "Subconscious Mind". The cure is to bring forth the thoughts that have been suppress in your subconscious to the conscious mind. This rids your mind of acting out of character and reduces anxiety.

"First they ignore you, then they laugh at you, then they attack you, then you win!"

"The belief is worthless if the fear of social and physical punishment overrides the belief."

If you wanted it that badly, I could help make it happen

But you'd have to want it badly.

You'd have to want it the way Murdoch wanted the WSJ. Always wanted it, never thought he could own it, finally, one day, his dream comes true. He owns the whole, entire Wall Street Journal. He wanted that badly. I think that by taking the actions he took, which were in accordance with his desires, he was able to achieve his goal. There's nothing really mysterious about that. It is just a kind of formula: Keep your spirit and actions aligned.

It is not like you can just make a wish and it comes true. First make the wish, and then you do everything in your power to make it come true. I think your subconscious mind truly helps you navigate - mysteriously - to your goal. We are bombarded with so much information that we can't consciously keep track of it all.

If you live in a city, you block out a lot of stuff. It is simply a survival mechanism. I think that the subconscious takes it all in, and communicates with your conscious mind to make things happen when they ned to happen, mysteriously.

I have many times met a mysterious navigator in my life, who got me safely to where I needed to be next. Mysterious navigators have appeared as humans, and as non-human events and / or signs, or guideposts. Mysterious navigators have also shown up as strong emotions that direct my actions.

All I know for sure, and I am 100% positive about this, is that there is more to this place than meets the eye.

Thank you Michael

I actually and honestly believe the Daily Paul is in good hands now.
but I have been shammed in the past by people selling psychic snake oil books and tapes, So , I tend to be little quick in mocking these schemes. I' do appreciate the value of focus and eliminating self-sabotage within our own minds. Peace to you friend.

With all due respect, I will no longer be a voting prostitute for Constitution rejecting harlots.

Michael Nystrom's picture

Thank you Steven

I appreciate hearing that.

There are certainly plenty of people out there selling psychic snake oil books and tape, but I think it all spawns from the grain of truth. Look at the original source, from the Original Book:

Matthew 17:20

Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there,' and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you."

Faith in what? It just says 'faith.'

Peace to you friend, too.

No matter how long you make your self believe that you are a fish, you will be unable to breath water. Wouldn't it be better to deal with reality than to tell your subconscious self lies?

The sub-conscious mind is an idiot box

Our job is to step out of this 'sleep walk' into the here and now. It's a volitional act.
You can't de-program the idiot box by using the same operating system that runs the idiot box.

What a load of BS

Most women I have known all dreamed of being rich. It was definitely engrained in them, yet they are up to their eyeballs in debt.

It's one thing to think good thoughts but the emphasis on attaining wealth is a dead give-away.

Most of this come-on --

Most of this come-on -- whether secret stuff or multi-level marketing -- play the rich card. It appeals to both genders.

The fact that most women you know are with are fixated on being rich says more about you than womankind. Most women I know dream of being significant, able, heroic.

To attract a different sort of person, you don't need to go into lolla-secret land, you simply need to be a different sort of person.

I had the same thought. Not sure how seriously I can take someone who puts so much emphasis on material items.

Thanks DeeJay. Michael while you were envisioning

While you were envisioning sweating your ass off on a NordicTrak, I was envisioning you vacationing in your Spanish Style Mansion in West Palm Beach.

But, I think I figured it out. When you look in the mirror you see Michael. But when I, and many others look at the Daily Paul see a different Michael reflected.

When I look in the mirror and see a grumpy old man, I wonder.

My grandson will be 4 this summer. He see me as the fellow that described crash, bang and crunch as Onomatopoeia. I now add to the list he says Onomatopoeia and we laugh and laugh.

Please, I ask you not to sweat it. Maybe a visit to the Argument Clinic will help: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YUIA40uLlKw

Best wishes on your road forward.

While I can relate

fully with the idea that your focus directs your life, and believe that intention stretches even beyond what we physically interact with, I find that the image which these self empowerment presentations such as the secret offers to be somewhat skew.

The first thing that gets me is how centred they are on material gain.. as though what you manage to obtain represents your virtue or something.

The second thing is how they ascribe reality as nothing more than the product of our mind. If this were true, how can a rock in Africa exist... because it certainly isn't part of our conscious mind. Also.. what thoughts did you have to be born ?

I personally think that the idea that we "are our minds" is flawed. I think that our minds are part of us, not the other way round.

Freedom is a byproduct of acceptance - judge not.

If it were true, there'd be a

If it were true, there'd be a lot more successful actors in L.A. But what you get instead are a ton of people afraid of criticism.

I agree there's some truth to it but in the way it's presented it is fraudulent and predatory. And the claims about quantum mechanics are just false.

Nevertheless, it's still fascinating and I like reading about it.

I like the statement at the end of the movie "Being There"

Life is a State of Mind.

To make this kind of conversation simple for myself, I use the terms: Inner and Outer Man/Woman....or Inner Being and Outer Being.

Inner is Energy, Outer is Matter.

I agree about how the product is advertised to have-nots, but that's just free market advertising. How to entice/strongly suggest to someone to buy a particular product, which is what a company naturally does to sell a product and compete with other companies.

The tree falling in the forest question (African rock) deals with the existence of matter outside one's consciousness.

About the vise or verse of your "Mind" statement, think of Mind as your Inner Being and all its numerous States (happy, sad, frustrated, excited, focused, inspired, day dreaming, Alpha dreaming...etc.).

As a living creature on this planet, I am both Inner and Outer Self at the same time. I am both Energy and Matter. It's 'kind of like' a symbiotic relationship between the Energy Self and the Matter Self and how well they interact with each other.

Impairment of either one can create imbalance in the living creature.

The way I see it, there is a difference between our "minds" the part of our awareness which conducts analytical thought, and our consciousness, which I believe is the part of us that extends into all things. This is a purely hypothetical consideration as there is no way to prove it, but this is what I believe from my own experiences.

These presentations seem to suggest that if we just focus on something enough that it will become real. So what happens if I focus on flying, or the sun going out.. are these things included, because they would have to be to keep it consistent ?

Ironically I do subscribe to the idea that we are capable of anything, but I am highly sceptical of most claims of this nature, because I think that they are made in most cases as an extension of a limited self awareness.

Freedom is a byproduct of acceptance - judge not.

Good stuff except....

This kind of stuff is always the rage when inflation and bubbles are the norm. THE PARTY HAS STARTED!!! John Maynard Keynes ho-rah! Now folks, you too can prosper. The economic crash is goooonee! Woo who!

But seriously, Read Richard Maybury's uncle Eric books to learn all the laws of economics not just the LAW OF ATTRACTION...Do you know anything about the LAW OF ONE PRICE, LAWS OF INFLATION, THE LAW OF VELOCITY? Without a holistic approach to the economy you are doomed to repeat stupid mistakes.

Yes, and while we're hearing

Yes, and while we're hearing about and buying books and about the laws that allow us to vibrate at different frequencies at will, how about learning what's actually going on in the world of science.

Here's a decent list of some great actual books about actual science:

Update on my comment below

One interesting thing happened to me in my late night last night, as I detailed in my comment below.

The other thing was this: When we got back to Boston from Taiwan, it was freezing here. It was right before that big snowstorm, and it got as cold at 5º F. It was a reminder of one of the reasons I don't like Boston - these cold winters. My activity level goes way down, and I get so out of shape. It is just hard to get out and move around in weather that cold. And by the end of summer, when I'm back into shape, winter rolls back in. The gym has not, over the 8 years I've lived here, proven to be a good solution.

So I started thinking back to about 15 years ago, when I used to have a Nordic Trak. Remember those? They don't make them anymore. I used to have one and I loved it:

I'd get on it and watch TV for a half an hour, and by the time I was done, I had a great workout, worked up a great sweat, and could just go take a shower. The whole workout was done in 45 minutes, and it was a great workout!

Well, now we live in a small place, and there isn't really room for something like that. But after we got back, we rearranged our furniture, freeing up the perfect spot for the machine. And even though they don't make them anymore, you can get them used on eBay for a couple hundred dollars.

When I was thinking about this, it was a real emotional rush: "I'm going to get a Nordic Trak!" It was like a possibility was created in my mind and I knew it was going to come true. It was the perfect solution.

So I've been looking them over on eBay, and checking Craigslist for the past 2 weeks or so. I didn't really like the idea of buying it on eBay - having someone ship something that big and heavy... And if it doesn't work, then potentially having to ship it back. But there have been zero pickings locally on Craigslist.

Until last night, when I was up late, trying to figure out what to do with the DP, and reading this thread, I stopped by Craigslist and found that someone was giving one away - for free! And they lived not but half an hour from me!

I emailed them immediately, and this morning got the reply, rented a big SUV from Zipcar and went down there this afternoon with a friend to collect it. It looks in great shape, and when I finish typing this, I'm going to finish putting it together and jump on it!

So...Is this one of those things? Did I manifest my NordicTrak, for free? Who knows. But since this belief serves me, I'll choose to keep it.

Thanks again DeejayG.

No. It's simply math. If you

No. It's simply math.

If you don't go looking for a N-trak, you won't find one. If you do, you will.

First case: almost zero probability of finding one.
Second case: pretty darn certain. You looked for two weeks, which means you were primed to catch any and all offerings. N-traks are quite common at thrift stores as lots more people buy them then wish to keep them long term.

You did the things necessary to find what was out there. No manifestation. Just going after what you wanted.

If you wanted to claim manifestation, you'd have to have never looked -- only wished -- and someone would have had to drop it on your porch. Also, you'd never have had to rent a SUV.

This is just simply looking for something and finding it. No secret involved.

for me it's the total gym

as in chuck Norris.
I've had several over the years but always ended up selling them when i move or go broke.
it's the only thing that i can use with my back problems because of the support it gives. it's the only thing i enjoy and will actually use.
i'm gonna start looking for another one asap.

Yes you did !!

Watch this video http://youtu.be/NF5k8ol9AGc

This vid and The Secret are

This vid and The Secret are Luciferic dis-info.

They are cribbed fron The Secret Science Behind Miracles, by Max Freedom Long. link:

The important aspect that everyone but Mr. Long neglects to discuss is the good, the right, and divine. It boils down to this: you can ideed manifest your heart's desiers, but only when you are in allignment with the good, the right and the devine. The point is that you are not in control. You need to have the divine's belssing to achieve your goal.

For example, you are on a life's path. If owning a Lamborguini is anithetical to properly walking that path, no amount of subconcious suggestions will bring it to fruition, regardless of that that guy, or The Secret, tells you to the contrary.

Men are not gods. God is the Creator. Man cannot manifest without The Creator's blessing. The Creator is the source for divine creative energy. Those that achieve their goals without the divine are using, stealing if you will, the divine energy of others in a sort of vampiric or parasitic manner with a Luciferian delusion of Man's divinity.

I know what you're saying. But what I would say is...

...that it's not disinfo, but rather it does encourage a person to not see a need for a Redeemer. In fact, the need for a Redeemer (from sin and death) is very purposely and carefully removed from many of these authors' works.

One major false premise is that we create EVERYTHING with our thoughts. Some of them say, "if you got raped, or you had a car accident, or whatever, it's because YOU brought it upon yourself by your thoughts, one way or the other." I think this is false.

The other key thing they intentionally omit (and it's because it's a doctrine the occult naturally rejects) is that we humans are here to be tested while in mortality. Tested by whom? God. For what? To see if we will have faith in Christ, to see if we will obey him.

We are absolutely creators. We are agents unto ourselves, with the ability and opportunity to act and not be acted upon. This is truth. We are to become like God (Matthew 5:48).

So there's not so much disinformation put forth. Rather there are conspicuous omissions of important truths, as I've mentioned above. Furthermore, it's much easier to have good thoughts and correct thoughts if we are trying to live virtuous lives following God. They teach, on the other hand, think WHATEVER, and you will attract that. Yes, that's true, but Christ invites us to think virtue, so virtue is attracted into our lives.

But absolutely Lucifer uses (teaches) these same principles to attract people to Him. He promises property and fame and glory as you yield (sell) your life to him by honoring him. We give him power as we honor him. Christ teaches the same principle however, but in context of serving God and becoming like Him.
