American Family Association misrepresents facts about Dr. Paul

I will never say that Don Wildmon is a bad man. In fact Ron Paul supporters would agree with Don on many issues.

Unfortunately, Don's organization has come out in favor of Huckabee and has created a Voters Guide that is misleading in regard to Dr. Paul's position on the issues of Right-to-Life and Traditional Marriage.

This is an important matter to many voters who would oppose the war in Iraq on the basis of their Christian Beliefs. AFA is giving the Paul campaign a fallacious poison pill that would push myriads of potential supporters toward Huckabee,

Here is Dr. Paul's take on the issue of Traditional Marriage:

"But, indeed, no private person has a right to complain, by suit in court, on the ground of a breach of the Constitution. The Constitution it is true, is a compact, but he is not a party to it."

Didnt Paul write a bill

that says life begins at conception?

Question

If I'm going to argue this, what is my basis for the argument? I mean, I know there is a completely logical reason b/c all of RP's reasons are logical, but why did he not vote to support the fed ammendment? I have seen in other sites also where he voted against the fed marriage amendment. So how do I argue that?

See my post below, here is an excerpt:

"A further check of Dr. Paul's position on marriage and pro-life shows it conforms to the Constitution of our United States. Constitutionally, such issues should be left to the states, and to THE PEOPLE. One danger of a Constitutional Amendment is that it will open the Constitution for further amendments at that time! Something like the pork amendments added to bills before Congress. We cannot trust our legislators to do the right thing, as you well know!"

why RP voted against federal abortion ammendment

politepaulite

Paul has the strongest prolife record. He delivered 4000 babies, has never performed an abortion, believes that lives begin at conception. He has never seen in his practice any emergency need for an abortion. He did not support the ammendment because he wants it to be on a state level decision. This is more than not wanting tax payers money to pay for abortion. He wants it under the control of the states so one day a president like Hillery can't come in and federally stop the ammendment. It would be harder to stop 50 individual states.

Remember when it was said that he was a racist because he didn't want the feds to give money for Rosa Parks. He voted against spending the tax payers money, But offered his own and asked others to do the same. They didn't, so it is on record that he didn't vote for it. He said it is easier to spend other people's money.

Ok.. I can see that, but:

Ok, that totally makes sense to me. But, just to play devil's advocate so that if I get asked this question I have all my ducks in a row.... wouldn't a constitutional amendment protect marriage better than a state law? I mean, my state passed a Defense of Marriage Act, but I remember at the time that they were trying to pass the amendment, alot of people wanted a constitutional amendment b/c they felt that a state law wouldn't prevent people from getting married in other states and then moving to our state and our state being forced to recognize it... just like traditional marriage is recognized everywhere. I live in a very Christian conservative area so I can see this coming up in discussion.

Educate me... you guys are way smarter than me!!!

This is what Ron Paul says

on the Right to Life issue:

http://www.ronpaul2008.com/issues/life-and-liberty/

Constitutionally, the feds can't dictate what a state does about things like this. However, it is true that they ARE dictating to us on many issues, (such as the medical marijuana issue here in Oregon and in other states.) I am certainly not for wholesale drug use to be legal (too many chances for abuse here), but-----this passed in Oregon and the states can handle it.
Comparing the Defense of Marriage Act in your state to our Assisted Suicide here in Oregon. If Assisted Suicide is legal in Oregon, (and IF the feds agreed and dictated this to be good,) would that mean I could move to your state and demand Assisted Suicide?
There are many issues that just won't go away immediately if Ron Paul is elected president, but with Dr. Paul's eloquent reason as the head of state, we WILL get our Republic back on track.

Marrage is not a role of the federal government

We cannot have our cake and eat it too. If marrage is determined at the federal level then everything else can be also. We want the federal government out of our lives. The constitution gives them no authority in this area.

These people still believe that Big Government

is their friend. Ron Paul doesn't support anything, not Constitutionally approved, and some of their issues fall into that category. These folks really don't get what Ron Paul is advocating....adherence to the Constitution First, then settle your little issues accordingly.

I sent this email to Don Wildmon at AFA

Dear Don,

I have been an AFA supporter for many years and I was not happy with your quick endorsement of Mike Huckabee for president. I have been following the positions and debates of all the candidates, and I have found Mike Huckabee to be dishonest, at best.
A further check of Dr. We cannot trust our legislators to do the right thing, as you well know!
My personal review of the Presidential candidates confirms that Ron Paul reflects wonderful Christian values as a person and leader:

1) He is pro-life, has delivered over 4,000 babies and states that life begins at conception.
2) He has been married to one woman for 51 years
3) He is gracious and kind in all debates and discussions
4) He does not believe in initiating the use of force in any human relationships
5) He believes we should do unto others as we would have them do unto us
6) He is humble about his Christian faith – as Christ commanded us to pray in our closets, not on the street corner
7) He views all life as precious and a gift from God
8) He firmly supports the US Constitution without fail
9) He recognizes the values of the Founders of our Republic

In terms of the process of the election to date:

1) He has received the fourth highest total of raw votes of any candidate (more than Giuliani)
2) He has come in higher than each other candidate in at least one state primary / caucus
3) He is raising more donations than any other Republican candidate -- $75 at a time from small individual donors
4) He has raised more money from military veterans than any other candidate – including McCain
5) He has the money and support to continue all the way to the convention, while it is clear Giuliani and at least one other candidate will drop out after Super Tuesday at the latest

Please consider Dr. Paul in your review of the candidates and reconsider your endorsement.
Don, I know you to be a godly Christian man, please do some research on this! Ron Paul is the only Republican candidate still in the race that is NOT connected with the CFR!

this org...

lost my respect ages ago. Doesn't take long to see where their own particular brand of bias is. Was obvious they were pushing Hucklebee early on and particularly with notice they sent out defending his infamous What Really Matters video at Christmas. They went right along implying that all the uproar was simply those who hate what so called christians stand for.

lets fight back

get his number and post it here so we can call and email him, then write an article for a publication so we can digg it for added pressure

No problem

huck will be gone shortly anyway and they will have to pick someone else to endorse.
