Liberty RISING! Lawmakers threaten TSA with private screeners if they don't improve its treatment of travelers.

Liberty RISING! Lawmakers threaten TSA with private screeners if they don't improve its treatment of travelers.

Bart Jansen, USA TODAY 6:21 p.m. EST January 14, 2014

WASHINGTON – Members of a House panel threatened Tuesday to privatize more airport screening unless the Transportation Security Administration improves its treatment of travelers.

Rep. John Mica, R-Fla., said he plans legislation "one way or the other" to privatize all federal screeners within two years. He would leave TSA in charge of gathering intelligence, setting standards and running audits.

"If you come to Orlando airport or Sanford airport, what is going on is almost criminal to American citizens, the way they are treated," said Mica, head of the Oversight and Government Reform subcommittee on government operations, which held a hearing on private screeners. "This is the mess we've created."

Just imagine someone once

Just imagine someone once saying; "We need better concentration camps. We're going to run the camps ourselves if the government can't do a better job of it!"

We need to

abolish the TSA and the DHS along with it. The whole thing is a hoax.

Yes, And a huge waste of money.

Abolish TSA and DHS!

Free includes debt-free!

Security should be left to airlines.

Security should be left to airlines.

Realistically, people have been conditioned that in order to fly you need to be molested first by the g man.

Engage in Secure Exchange

I will slap the taste out yo mouth.

Now get in line for your john.

The only difference is you are the one paying.

IF, is not an

Option.

Bingo!

I refuse to fly.

Have not flown since the TSA started undressing passengers (taking shoes and belts off).

When Liberty rises, Tyranny dies

While it is always good when light is shed on tyranny, this is just token talk. What he is REALLY saying is "The people need to think we're changing things to look out for their rights".

"Rep. John Mica, R-Fla., said he plans legislation 'one way or the other' to privatize all federal screeners within two years.

This statement sounds good, but it made impotent by the next statement:

"He would leave TSA in charge of gathering intelligence, setting standards and running audits."

The "privatization" would only serve the purpose of putting more "private" companies under the jurisdiction of the Feds.

That is not liberty rising, but tyranny becoming wiser as a serpent - becoming more subtle!

"If you come to Orlando airport or Sanford airport, what is going on is almost criminal to American citizens, the way they are treated."

ALMOST criminal?????

"This is the mess we've created."

All admissions are not signs of honesty, sometimes they are just plain facades.

The constitutionality of the TSA is only as it pertains to federal entities and government travel - not public transportation.

It was me who down voted the thread.

Any and all of this is not what a free society is all about :-(

Re private screeners, I'm with you here.

Such screening doesn't belong here in America, period, the end. In fact, it's MORE of a concern to me if there are private screeners.
.....First, at least with the gov't responsible, citizen recourse is through our representatives in Congress. To date, they might have been doing a REALLY BAD JOB in seeing that our rights are protected, but we do have recourse: VOTE THEM OUT and vote in people who will try to end this invasive, unconstitutional practice by whatever means necessary, such as an amendment to whatever law or act permitted it in the first place; and if it involved executive orders - get them repealed or impeach the president, you cowards. MAYBE our Senators and Congressmen will start to understand that we're FED UP - this being just one example of OVERREACHING GOV'T INTRUSION INTO THE PRIVACY OF AMERICANS. As to the alternative, what recourse is there, at all, against A CORPORATION? Just lawsuits - as if regular folks have the means to go up against an airline with a cadre of in-house attorneys.
.....Second, it would just represent the LATEST example of PUBLIC-PRIVATE--PARTNERSHIPS that give corporations (MORE) power over the people. "What Are Public Private Partnerships?" http://www.dailypaul.com/189216/what-are-public-private-part...
.....THE PRACTICE NEEDS TO BE ENDED. As you say, "any and all of this is not what a free society is all about."

When we try to pick out anything by itself, we find it hitched to everything else in the Universe.
