Rand Paul Pulls Rhetorical Judo on Neocons Calling them "Isolationist"

Senator Rand Paul detailed his views on diplomacy Tuesday in a speech before the Center for the National Interest...The US, he said, should employ trade and diplomacy whenever possible while scaling back overseas police action...

The Senator criticized neoconservatives for having forsaken this tradition, arguing that they really promote “not a neoconservatism but a neoisolationism in which diplomacy is distrusted and war is, if not the first option, the preferred option.”

“Neoconservatives brag of their desire for engagement, but increasingly preach a doctrine that is hostile to diplomatic engagement,” said Paul. “To this crowd, everyone who doesn’t agree with them is the next Chamberlain. To this crowd, anyone who doesn’t clamor first for the military option is somehow an isolationist. The irony is that the crowd that claims they want to engage often opposes diplomatic engagement.”

Very well said by Rand.

Judo chop!

Kudos to Rand

I'm not a fan, but I will give him his due. That was very nicely done.

Now, if we can just get him to acknowledge that Israel is a genocidal bully.

"In the beginning of a change the patriot is a scarce man, and brave, and hated and scorned. When his cause succeeds, the timid join him, for then it costs nothing to be a patriot."--Mark Twain

Guess So...

..BTW.....Nice point you raised.
(maybe he noticed?)

Will Rand show

to be a hypocrite? We shall soon see when they vote on more Iran sanctions (act of war), which will negate the diplimatic peace agreement Rand is hitting the Neocoms with. According to a Senior Staffer, Rand will vote 'yes' on more sanctions, ending an international peace agreement and causing more innocent Iranians to suffer. Time will tell, and if he does vote 'yes', this same publication, along with Rockwell, Anitwar, ect will flip this attack back at him. Even his father will be forced to go against him if he votes 'yes' on sanctions, or throw his whole lifelong policy out the window. And, Rand will do this all for political ass kissing to AIPAC and the misguided apostacy following evangelical (non)Christians. http://freebeacon.com/a-lonely-flake/

Call Him

Please show me the quote from Sen. Paul's office that states that he "will vote 'yes' on more sanctions."

The statement from his spokeswoman cleary indicates he is still taking the bill into consideration and is "keeping an open mind." I'm not saying he wont eventually support the bill, but as it stands, he has not (yet?) committed to a 'yes' vote. Moreover, he has not signed on as a cosponsor.

I tried to explain this in another thread, yet you continue to spread this misrepresentation of the facts from that Free Beacon hit piece.

If you really care how he will vote, you should call his office: (202) 224-4343. If he doesn't hear from his constituents and (potential) supporters, then all he will hear are the war drums of the Saudi and Israeli lobbies.

From Slate Magazine:

Both Arizona Sen. Jeff Flake and Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul confirmed today [Jan 14] that they're undecided. A story in the neoconservative Washington Free Beacon had cast Flake as the "lonely" Republican holdout, after a warm statement on the bill came from Paul's office. But when asked about his support, Paul slid into an elevator and said, "We're still looking at it."

You need to understand Ground the Drones is that we have hacks

They are here to attack Rand and promote their little policy and politicians. Just down vote them.

"We cant have our own facts"

I'm not prepared to question anyone's motives or doubt the authenticity of one's concerns over Iran sanctions. But I do wish to set the record straight.

I don't always agree with Rand, and I believe it's important for us to voice our opposition when appropriate. It's even more important that our positions are consistent with the facts rather than hyperbolic rhetoric.

Also, Senator Paul recently joined

the photo messaging app "Snapchat," and he took his second shot at the NSA with an obligatory full moon.

Good for him;

I love it! A rose by any other name...
