(CNSNews.com) -- When asked whether he read the 1,528-page, $1.1 trillion government spending bill before he voted for it yesterday, Rep. Earl Blumenauer (D-Ore.) said, “Nobody did!”

On Capitol Hill on Thursday, CNSNews.com asked Blumenauer: “The omnibus bill yesterday, it was 1,582 pages, did you have a chance to read all the pages before voting on it?”

Blumenauer laughed and said: “Nobody did!”

“Nobody did?” said the CNSNews.com reporter.

“Nope,” said Blumenauer.

It would be nice if we could

It would be nice if we could slip somthing in there since they dont read.

To climb the mountain, you must believe you can.

When Representation in Congress is a sworn duty

Then any and every act of misrepresentation of the will of the People's trusted office ought to be treated as the perjurious breach of contract that it is.

When We the Contractors, allow these Subcontractors to build our political house this poorly, and We fail to remedy their workmanship timely, and don't put liens on them, personally, for the foundational flaws they're responsible for; then We shouldn't be surprised when that house crumbles beneath all of Our feet, theirs included!

Find out just what any people will quietly submit to and you have the exact measure of the injustice and wrong which will be imposed on them. - Frederick Douglass

With no time to read, the vote should be an automatic "Nay."

This is common sense. Who would do this: "Just sign this contract now. Don't read it."

Lobbyists write the bills

they are plum full packed of lobbyist incentives.

Those who expect to reap the blessings of freedom must. like men, undergo the fatigue of supporting it.-Thomas Paine

Lobbyists = tyranny.

That lobbyists write these bills is all the more reason for knee-jerk no votes until proven otherwise. I guess I'm not thinking like a bought-and-paid-for politician.

Quantum mechanics speeds

Poor America, your Founding Fathers are now spinning in their graves at quantum mechanics speeds.

Will you have mercy of them, eventually?

I don't want to despair. Not quite yet.

But that's darn tough to watch for me.

Omnibus spending bill

The following are excerpts from a USA TODAY article on the spending bill:
http://www.usatoday.com/story/news/politics/2014/01/15/omnib...

The nearly 1,600-page spending bill includes all 12 of the individual annual spending bills packaged into one $1.012 trillion “omnibus” spending bill. The bill will have gone from unveiling to law in just six days, while the normal appropriations process is structured to take months and allow for more lawmaker input.

Rep. Jim McGovern, D-Mass., holding up the thick bill on the House floor, criticized the House for voting on a bill “that nobody has read.” McGovern cited a concern held by lawmakers in both parties that the details of the omnibus are likely to trickle out after the bill has become law. ”I’m willing to bet in a week or so we’re going to read an article about something being in the bill that nobody knew about,”.

Jenny Beth Martin, co-founder of the Tea Party Patriots, characterized the bill as a “monstrosity.” She said ”while Americans suffer the consequences of Obamacare, Congress is trying to rush through another massive bill before reading it.”
