If anyone is interested in committing armed robbery under the context that you are acting lawfully, then go get a job with the Humboldt County Sheriff's office.

"A man whose money was seized by a deputy from the Humboldt County Sheriff's Office during a traffic stop is suing Humboldt County, Sheriff Ed Kilgore, and the deputy to get his money back, along with damages.
According to the complaint filed in 2nd Judicial District Court, the sheriff's office refused to identify the deputy who seized the $50,000 in cash. However, at the time of the seizure the HCSO released a photo (shown) and made a statement on the incident -- identifying Sgt. Lee Dove as the deputy involved.

The HCSO statement read as follows: “Sgt. Lee Dove pictured with K-9 Zyla with $50,000 cash seized yesterday after a traffic stop for speeding. This cash would have been used to purchase illegal drugs and now will benefit Humboldt County with training and equipment. Great job.”

Burn 'em

Burn 'em down. Burn 'em all. Burn 'em now. Theft is theft. Wearing a badge is not a license for theft. Oh wait. Yes it is.

God forgives always. Man forgives sometimes. But Nature never forgives.

Welcome to Civil Forfeiture Law.

This same thing is happening all over the country. The Constitution is supposed to protect us from illegal search and seizure but apparently if the word "civil" is attached it isn't a mean old illegal robbery - its a FRIENDLY robbery and therefore legal.

Illlegal?

Whether something is legal or not doesn't really make a difference... I wish people would stop using the word "legal" and substitute in "moral"... this seizure was immoral... but then again, so was stopping them for speeding if they weren't harming anyone.

Everything the Nazi's did was legal... that didn't make it right though.

Laws are politicians scribbles, that may or may not coincide with morality..

It definately seems to me that...

Since many states and the federal government have reached the threshold of tax tolerance, that seizure and bogus fines and penalties are the only options left for "revenue enhancement" << the term most corporations use now to refer to creative means of money grubbing.

With all due respect, I will no longer be a voting prostitute for Constitution rejecting harlots.

It shur is
