If He Was Around Today, Thomas Jefferson Would Be Considered A Tea Party Extremist

By Michael Snyder, on January 20th, 2014

Thomas Jefferson was radically anti-tax, pro-gun and anti-central bank. He loved precious metals, he openly acknowledged a “Creator” and he wanted to add an amendment to the Constitution which would ban the federal government from going into debt. If he was around today, he would be considered a “nutjob”, an “extremist”, a “fascist” and even a “potential terrorist“. But of course Jefferson was none of those things. Rather, Jefferson was a great thinker, the primary author of the Declaration of Independence and our third President. Below, I have shared a list of 13 famous Jefferson quotes (13 for the 13 colonies that originally founded America) that show just how far America has fallen away from our founding principles. I think that most of you will be very shocked when you read this list…

#1 “It is incumbent on every generation to pay its own debts as it goes. A principle which if acted on would save one-half the wars of the world.”

#2 “If we can but prevent the government from wasting the labours of the people, under the pretence of taking care of them, they must become happy.”

#3 “No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms.”

If he was back around Thomas Jefferson would have a heart attack

If he was back around today, Thomas Jefferson would have a heart attack just by looking at what they've done to destroy, to undo the Bill of Rights - already.

CPR would be needed immediately.

"Cyril" pronounced "see real". I code stuff.

These comparisons are kind of silly

Assuming Jefferson today would be the exact same as Jefferson when he was a Founding Father really doesn't make much sense.

If Jefferson were alive today... he would be arrested for keeping slaves.

.

restrained comment.

A couple of BIG differences

The foreign policy of the tea party would be in conflict with Jefferson, who said "Peace, commerce, and honest friendship with all nations-entangling alliances with none." Additionally, Jefferson did not want a standing army. How many tea party members are going to go along with cutting the military and dissolving our foreign alliances with NATO, Israel etc...

Funny, I was just in Boston for the first time ever and I walked

the freedom trail. Its actually a fascinating tour through the city and I highly recommend it.

I couldn't help but think about how Paul Revere who is probably as responsible as anyone for the revolution could never get away today with the things he did back then.

Sadly, the country they all started has become more like the country they all fought so hard to get freedom from.

At this point...

...he'd probably have some routine car trouble that caused his sedan to spontaneously burst into flames and slam into a pole at 80 mph.

Sadly, he also wouldn't be welcome on this site due to his tendency to advocate violence as a necessary check against government abuse.

"The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants. It is it's natural manure."
- Thomas Jefferson, 1787

Read the letter in which this quote appeared here:

The whole letter is short but, in my opinion, sums up our current state of affairs.

Well...

The truth can be scary, huh?

No. He would hang tea party leadership as traitors.

As the current tea party national leadership is almost wholly if not wholly compromised by RNC consultants, globalist-funded agents, and paytriots, i.e. Tories, who are using the tea party rank and file as "useless idiots".

Well said

Tea Party = republican lemmings.
