Seahawks Players and Staff: ‘Jesus is Better Than The Super Bowl'

(CNSNews.com) - “Jesus is better than the Super Bowl,” says Seahawks Defensive Passing Game Coordinator Rocky Seto, and some Seahawks players are clearly in agreement.

Before their playoff run a group of Seattle Seahawks players sat down with the pastor of Mars Hill Church in Seattle for a videotaped discussion called, “Who is Jesus?”

“It’s no question he gave us everything,” Seto says during the group interview.

“Literally, one plus one equals two, it’s just that simple. Jesus is better than anything we could ever hope for, even better than the Super Bowl, better than an NFL career.”

Maybe you can find a verse that says God only cares about people who are unsuccessful and never strive for anything in this life.
I don't have to even get a verse up in here to say that Jesus will glorify those who glorify Him.
I don't even have to get a verse to say that those who put Him first will see the desires of their hearts.

Can you imagine any of the apostles of Christ, if they were alive today, partaking in any of this worldliness in any way shape or form?

God Himself tells us that you cannot have this world, the things of this world, the love of this world, and have Him too....This is impossible no matter who says otherwise!

Why do so many so called Christians who play professional sports, do so on the Lord's day?
Jesus said "If you love Me, keep My commandments"
Why do these people continuously violate the 4th commandment?

No matter what day one may say is the Sabbath, these people play week after week both on Saturdays and Sundays.

Not only are "they" working on the day that the Lord told us there is to be no work, but they make thousands, upon thousands of others to work on the Lord's day!

They are not witnessing for Jesus but for the world and that it's OK to do whatever your heart desires on any day, just be sure you mention that name of Jesus and you're all set and covered.

They do these things to obtain their place in this world and nobody shall take it from them, not even God's commandment.

They do it for fame, glory and of course the multi-millions of dollars that go with all that in the entertainment industry.

That's what they are....entertainers, to entertains whosoever will watch, (at a price of course) while all the ungodly things that are attributed to the pro sports events. Hey, that's how they get paid is it not?

And next year, well, if they did good this year they can ask for millions more in another city and play there for Jesus!

I personally know of someone who some years ago turned down a professional sports offer as a pitcher for the Boston Red Sox because he would not sign the contract if they made him play on Sundays.

Was he a fool?

Yes, he was a fool for Christ!

He put God and eternity, before personal gain and temporary worldly glory.

A real Christian!

We who truly love the Lord, though we may have very little in this life and seen as poor, have ALL things in Him both now in this life, and soon will come to enjoy ALL that He has prepared for all those who truly love Him not in word only, but in deed.

Oh! You want to talk Sports?

I had the privilege of being a part of a church in Baltimore where Scott McGregeor, former Baltimore Orioles pitcher was a pastor.

Scott's testimony included (but not limited to) having pitched two World Series games for Baltimore. The first one was before he came to know Jesus as his savior. They lost. Scott's second World Series game that he pitched, they won.
He acknowledged his relationship with God as his source of strength. After he retired (the first time) he ministered to the team (and other MLB players he came to know).
As you know professional sports can destroy a soul. There were many stories of God's grace saving players' lives and the lives of some families.
It's not just about what God gives us in life. It's also about where He puts us to reach others who need Him.

No I do not want to talk sports

Professional sports are professional entertainers!
THAT is what they are!
No more, no less!
That is their job, to be the best entertainers they can be.

We who are truly of God have something MUCH more important to do and that is to serve God by being FAITHFUL in our lives as doing our all to obey His commandments and to tell others of Him and their need for forgiveness of their sins.

I know God has His people in many walks of life, and I would never say who is not His, but I will say that many are pitiful witnesses in that they keep not His commandments and make many excuses as to why God has them doing what they are doing and living deeply rooted in this world with all it has to offer.

Also, many who say they are His, are not His!

Well, there WILL come a day when Jesus Christ Himself will say to MANY who professed His name "Depart from me ye workers of iniquity, I NEVER KNEW YOU"

"If you love Me, keep My commandments" is what we Christians should live by no matter what the cost, lest we be found out to be false witnesses.

"Come out of her My people" is the calling of God!

What's jaw-dropping to me is how many agree

but never get to say so from the potential pinnacle of their sports careers, like these guys have. Seattle is known for being FAR from any Bible-belt, so when biblical faith is honored this openly, I'm sure it is rocking the local pagans more than a little :)
