I think this is good. Now we

I think this is good. Now we can all get to know each other on a more personal level and learn to respect each other and get along without the distractions from outside sources. We are a gated community with nobody but us to depend on.

The Ark (Gerry Rafferty)

See the dark night has come down on us
The world is livin’ in its dream
But now we know that we can wake up from this sleep
And set out on the journey
Find a ship to take us on the way.

The time has come to trust that guiding light
And leavin’ all the rest behind
We’ll take the road that leads down to the waterside
And set out on the journey
Find a ship to take us on the way.

And we’ll sail out on the water
Yes we’ll feel the sea roll
Yes we’ll meet out on the water
Where are all strangers I know.

If you travel blindly, if you fall
The truth is there to set you free
And when your heart can see just one thing in this life
We’ll set out on the journey
Find a ship to take us on the way.

Meanwhile...Onboard "The ARK"

..a desperate SOS goes out:

"Beyond the blackened skyline, beyond the smoky rain, dreams never turned to ashes up until.........
...Everything CHANGED !!

This may have been mentioned already, but.....

What about a referral-based system where new members can join if referred by other members?

Look! Off The Starboard Bow...

...isn't that a Carnival cruise ship listing 45 deg to port? Poor bastards.

It sure makes me feel nervous

To suddenly find myself on a boat so far away from home!

I believe in the freedom to be what we choose to be.

Another forum I visit has

Another forum I visit has limited registration available. Mostly to help keep trouble makers out. They open it up every now and then.
Dont know how long you plan on keeping registration here closed, but I hope its not forever.

To climb the mountain, you must believe you can.

Yup I tried the door and it was locked.

For Freedom!
The World is my country, all mankind is my brethren, to do good is my religion.

Try Connor O'Neills pub next door

They should be open ;-)

LMAO!

Good one Dex! ;)

If Wars Can Be Started by Lies, They Can Be Stopped By Truth.

Where is the joy in exclusion! I say it's the manischewitz

talking.

Fine - you've boiled down your fan club to a few hundred selects, and you've killed off those few who buck your system of control management. From there you must differ from Herr Hitler surely.

I'm sure of it.

Ban me for this comment alone. Ban me, that I may find greater freedom elsewhere.

(edit) OK - listening to the Prince track right now. It's good. And that's me saying that. ME.

Love is an open door?

You almost had me there! Then I remembered that the Prince turned out to be an evil upstart, worse than a troll. :D

"Ban me, that I may find greater freedom..." -CC

Is that satire? You are also free to buck the system. This ain't Jonestown or Hale-Bopp's Heaven's Gate. The rules have been clear to all, and I've never known them to be changed whimsically. In other words, even the jettisoned are among those who have chosen to jump ship. It is you who differs not from Hitler's ranks as you call out to your Führer to be banned, a choice for you cloaked as a decision for him.

(edit) We all jumped for Joy, but Joy jumped higher...

E major I believe is the key.

I failed to see the edit (Michael's, not yours) when I posted the past comment.

My frustration was in seeing/perceiving joy in cutting someone out from the pack. Like shutting someone out of the ark. There is always time for redemption. The dove will return with an olive branch, given time.

Oh Geesh....

Since Michael edited the original title and contents to this post, I'm now confused for listening to Prince sing about a guy humping a gal in a back alley...

...er...maybe..... Frack It: The Ark Door is Closed

I'm gonna have to take a trip to Colorado to try and get insync with you guys.

Says it all for me...

Fair winds and following seas.

By the ark door being closed,

By the ark door being closed, do you mean that the dailypaul does not allow new accounts (aka members) to be created??? Or is this just another random ass post that is suppose to be thought provoking when it is really vague and short?

Registration is now closed.

Try it - sign out, then click on a thread and you will see that 'register to comment' is no longer an option.

I am not sure how I feel about the decision, but I do know that in the bible Noah sent a dove out to look for dry land, and eventually it came back with a olive leaf indicating that it was safe to return to land.

Genesis 8:11 When the dove returned to him in the evening, there in its beak was a freshly plucked olive leaf! Then Noah knew that the water had receded from the earth.

....think Zen...

.

What does meditation have to

What does meditation have to do with noah's arc?

or......... maybe you mean

or......... maybe you mean that the dailypaul is in sense a modern day 'noah's arc'. We have every type of ideology and belief in our vast array of members. So let's close the arc door and create a better society in the near future based off of our own group discussions and debates.

I don't know the reasoning of Michael's choice....

...but, from reading his postings through the years, I felt it came from his intuition. Hence my reply to "think Zen".

As for him posting a short and to the point message using an analogy of an ancient boat story...his humor and creativity is sometimes misunderstood.

Ark, ark!

One of my fave's:

Sea Fever
BY JOHN MASEFIELD
I must go down to the seas again, to the lonely sea and the sky,
And all I ask is a tall ship and a star to steer her by;
And the wheel’s kick and the wind’s song and the white sail’s shaking,
And a grey mist on the sea’s face, and a grey dawn breaking,

I must go down to the seas again, for the call of the running tide
Is a wild call and a clear call that may not be denied;
And all I ask is a windy day with the white clouds flying,
And the flung spray and the blown spume, and the sea-gulls crying.

I must go down to the seas again, to the vagrant gypsy life,
To the gull’s way and the whale’s way where the wind’s like a whetted knife;
And all I ask is a merry yarn from a laughing fellow-rover,
And quiet sleep and a sweet dream when the long trick’s over.

Styx - Come Sail Away

Styx - Come Sail Away

Lyrics:

I'm sailing away,
Set an open course for the virgin sea,
'Cause I've got to be free,
Free to face the life that's ahead of me,
On board, I'm the captain, so climb aboard,
We'll search for tomorrow on every shore,
And I'll try, Oh Lord I'll try, to carry on

I look to the sea,
Reflections in the waves spark my memory,
Some happy, some sad,
I think of childhood friends and the dreams we had,
We lived happily forever, so the story goes,
But somehow we missed out on the pot of gold
But we'll try best that we can to carry on

A gathering of angels appeared above my head,
They sang to me this song of hope and this is what they said,
They said come sail away, come sail away, come sail away with me lads,
Come sail away, come sail away, come sail away with me,
Come sail away, come sail away, come sail away with me baby,
Come sail away, come sail away, come sail away with me

I thought that they were angels, but to my surprise,
We climbed aboard their starship, we headed for the skies
Singing come sail away, come sail away, come sail away with me lads
Come sail away, come sail away, come sail away with me
Come sail away, come sail away, come sail away with me
Come sail away, come sail away, come sail away with me...

Oh Yeah!

Thanks for beaming me back to one of my favorites from the 70s.

I don't understand.

What's going on here?

Though I must say I'm loving all the sea-related stuff in the comments, not to mention the Tolkien references.

Oh!

Now I get it. It took me reading a bunch of comments to piece it together.

Makes you wonder, though - how did he manage to crowd this bizarre array of people onto the same boat? We've got religious crusaders, patriot militiamen, unreconstructed Confederates, anarcho-capitalists, Zionists, Constitutionalists, pacifists, hippies, singers, gun nuts, ex-soldiers, artists, businessmen, atheists, college kids, and countless other categories, with each member being a mix of several.

This has got to be the most dysfunctional crew ever, but woe to those who stand against us! I can't put my finger on why, but this is somehow a very profound reminder of the fact that we're fighting under the same flag. We bicker like crazy now, but when it comes time... we're unstoppable.

"We'll rally 'round the bonnie flag, we'll rally once again! Shout, shout the battle cry of freedom!"
