Monsanto Is Going Organic in a Quest for the Perfect Veggie

Public opposition and the marketplace seems to be successfully placing the social constraint of natural breeding, on new varieties of food producing plants and animals.

This is a much more responsible application of the science.

Carp and tomatoes don't produce viable offspring. Forcing a "shotgun" wedding on the two has always struck me as unnatural (goats that produce spider web in their milk?).

Unfortunately, it doesn't mean Monsanto is going to stop or alter the way they conduct the rest of their business, which is so low-handed, I would have a hard time trusting anything they produce (i.e. are they capable of participating in a free market on a level playing field?).

With the tone of placed propaganda, this article seems to signal recognition by the company that their perverse business model has no future, at least in the produce section.

Monsanto is basically THE

Monsanto is basically THE thing thats wrong with that industry. You hear monsanto this, monsanto that, yet rarely do you hear about the other companies doing various research. You dont hear about other companies making grabs at legislation or putting out propaganda campaigns. etc etc etc

To climb the mountain, you must believe you can.

The thing that is wrong with

The thing that is wrong with that industry is their putting profits over people and environmental health. Of course you are correct, monsanto is not the only player, but they are one of the biggest. Linked is an article calling out monsanto and dow chemical company.

Do you mean

Monsanto is a villian, while there are many other companies in biotech doing research that are not villians?

They must have

the same PR man as "BP" stating they are "friends to the Environment"
and safety is our number one concern.

NOSHEEPLE

AND.....

They turned over a new "leaf".

Remember how they said they were going to bring an end to starvation?

Remember how they said the were going to produce new "super foods"?

Remember how they said their plants would produce far more food than organics?

Sad, they had the chance to do so much good, yet they insisted in playing the role of "Food Mobster".

Yeah, I trust em, everyone deserves another 666,000 chances. Howbout another slice of that "agent orange......"

We already have the perfect

We already have the perfect fruits and veggies. They come in the form of heirloom seeds and are grown in the ground, not created in a petri dish. I can not bring myself to trust a biotech corporation that used to profit from making chemical weapons, and in my mind, continues to do so.

hopefully this is the free market correction to end frankenfoods

Why spend hundreds of millions of dollars if there is no market?

racking my brain here

How are they going to sue people for this?
