Please share this / Burn Treatment Who knew?...

Just might come in handy some day.

WOW!!! Real interesting!
Could come in handy..

A young man sprinkling his lawn and bushes with pesticides wanted to check the contents of the barrel to see how much pesticide remained in it. He raised the cover and lit his lighter; the vapors
ignited and engulfed him He jumped from his truck, screaming.

His neighbor came out of her house with a dozen eggs and a bowl yelling: "bring me some more eggs!"

She broke them, separating the whites from the yolks. The neighbor woman helped her to apply the whites onto the young man's face.

When the ambulance arrived and the EMTs saw the young man, they asked who had done this. Everyone pointed to the lady in charge.

They congratulated her and said: "You have saved his face."

By the end of the summer, the young man brought the lady a bouquet of roses to thank her. His face was like a baby's skin. A Healing Miracle for Burns:

Keep in mind this treatment of burns is being included in teaching beginner fireman. First Aid consists of first spraying cold water on the affected area until the heat is reduced which stops the
continued burning of all layers of the skin. Then, spread the egg whites onto the affected area.

One woman burned a large part of her hand with boiling water. In spite of the pain, she ran cold faucet water on her hand, separated 2 egg whites from the yolks, beat them slightly and dipped her hand in the solution. The whites then dried and formed a protective layer.

She later learned that the egg white is a natural collagen and continued during at least one hour to apply layer upon layer of beaten egg white. By afternoon she no longer felt any pain and the next day there was hardly a trace of the burn. 10 days later, no trace was left at all and her skin had regained its normal color.
The burned area was totally regenerated thanks to the collagen in the egg whites, a placenta full of vitamins.

This is written in that same tone

that a lot of chain letters and memes are written in. It's starting to get recognizable to me, as if it's the same author over and over or an author with a particular personality trait that shines through the writing.

I use ice for burns

and keep ice/ice water on burn until it stops hurting. I have done this many times and it usually prevents blistering. The key is to cool down burn ASAP.

When I was in high school I worked at a donut shop and accidentally stuck my hand in the fryer while trying to flip a large donut. I immediately ran to the ice machine and stuck my hand in it. I kept my hand in a bowl of ice water for as long as I could (about 6 hours) until I fell asleep. Just before falling asleep I wrapped my hand with an ice bag. When I woke up my hand was fine. I went to work the next day and the guy I was working with the night before could not believe my hand was ok, the night before he suggested I go to hospital. I have used this many times for friends and family with great results.

I've seen this, too

The initial redness of a burn isn't all damage. I've seen a lot of the redness disappear due to cold water treatment, in less time than healing alone would account for. I've also seen untreated burns of similar severity get worse later without cold water treatment.

Just a note here of something I learned about burns

First thanks for this article. Good info to know!

Believe it or not one thing I have found for quickly eliminating pain from burns (at least up to second degree burns as I have never had a third degree burn) is to apply HOT water and heat to the burn.

I received a severe second degree burn when I was about 7 years old and did the water and ice thing for over a day and the burn hurt the whole time when cold was released.

Years later getting another severe second degree burn similar to the previous and remembering the lengthy pain of my previous burn I decided to try apply heat instead of cold to the burn. Low and behold I found the pain was completely gone within a half hour to 1 hour. I have done this ever since for any burn and the pain is always completely gone within 1 hour max.

The heat will cause more pain for a bit but if you deal with it the overall pain will be gone very rapidly.

I'm not so sure about that.

Maybe tepid water wouldn't hurt like the ice or icy water apparently did when you were younger. And tepid/room temperature water would still draw heat *from* the burned skin, which is the objective. If it worked for you, then I'm glad of that. But I don't think it's necessarily what would happen, in general. Well, I'd want to know more about it before trying it out, given that pain, possible infection, and scarring are all possible consequences.

When we try to pick out anything by itself, we find it hitched to everything else in the Universe.

My wife doesn't believe me either

I am not talking about the "heat". I am talking about the "pain". The pain increases significantly while heat/hot water is applied but then rapidly dissipates as the heat is removed.

Also just to be clear the icy cold does provide immediate pain relief but causes extended prolonged pain as the coolness is removed. But for ending the pain rapidly that's where the heat does wonders for me.

I am not a doctor so I am not trying to give medical advice and I would not attempt this on a third degree burn. For first and second degree this technique works very well for me and I have no scars from burns.

My wife insists on keeping the burn cool for pain relief but she does have minor scars from second degree burns (She is a doctor/medical research scientist). Of course she has extended pain from her cooling technique just as I had when I was younger.

Mild heating works so well for minor to moderately severe burn pain relief for me that I don't think any other way now. I immediately go to the hot water when burned and the pain is completely gone within a half to one hour.

Your caution is wise though...

As much as I wanted to believe....

What's stated in the link below makes sense.

Quoting Snopes As The End All Or Be All. ...

Snopes isn't ALWAYS the final arbiter.. They have been wrong as many times as they have been right. In many cases they have no way of varifying much of anything....

What you have done here is put doubt and my credibility into this thread by quoting a long and confusing assessment by one person -
Barbara "cold comfort" Mikkelson

I never said that snopes was the end all or be all. I said, what was said in the article makes sense (e.g. Yeah, let's potentially put salmonella on an open wound--no thanks). And how are you exactly "verifying" the validity of the story you posted? Sorry for putting doubt into this thread, and frankly I don't see how commenting on something that you posted affects your credibility. I wasn't trying to call you a liar, not credible, or anything else. I actually wanted to believe what you posted was true, but also wanted to do a little research before I go out and try it, and potentially get myself into a lawsuit for trying to be a good samaritan. Don't you think that if something like this actually happened, there would be a news article to verify it? Good luck finding it. Another good point is that some people are deathly allergic to eggs. So when you go to help your neighbor's child that is allergic to eggs and is burnt and in a panic, what do you think their first reaction to your "help" is going to be? Hope you have a large umbrella policy to offset the costs. They're not going to say, "oh, it's ok, he was just being a good samaritan." They're going to to come at you with the biggest lawsuit they can come up with, because you read some bullshit remedy on the internet, and decided to play doctor, and experiment on their child. Take a deep breath man, it'll be ok.

So you say it's your credibility at stake

are you claiming to be the original author of the viral email?
