Should that be encouraging or discouraging?

the important part

is the discipline, to do something everyday, even 500 words. it's the stick-to-it-ness that's really important. and then of course editing. writing is rewriting. somebody said that. i forget who.

It doesn't matter Bill

How much do you write everyday? That's all that matters. Hemingway wrote a bunch everyday also. Then he cut tons and tons and tons out of every story before it was published.

But it doesn't matter what he did either.

You're not Jack London, you're not Hemingway.

Write what you write, how you write it, when you write it.

The thing is, the amount of words does not matter. It's the quality. The quality is what matters.

It's also not the amount of originals you have up there in that little box at the same time. Again, it's the quality of them. You can fill that box with originals, but if they are just words simply to put words on a screen, and simply to get them up there then that's all they are; words. Make the words mean something profound and amazing.

And make them sound good Bill....

A best selling author I know writes 3,000 words a day.

It doesn't all get published, but he does it to hone his craft.

that's like 3-4 pages

That's nothing. Easily doable. You can do it.

Neither

For you are not Jack London.

But 1000 words isn't that much. 4 double spaced pages. You can bang that out in an hour.

It's not the writing that's hard, it's the editing! At least that is the hard part for me.

It isn't much, is it? It's really not. But the ceiling keeps moving, while not moving!
Love, Bill

are you working on a novel?

If so, then I am looking forward to reading it.

It's fun!

Isn't it? And frustrating, too.
