Technical Difficulties at the Daily Paul

My apologies. I know the site is running rough. I'm getting timed out on comments and posts, and just on pulling pages up in general. I know others are experiencing the same thing.

I don't know why it is doing this, but that's how it goes. One day everything is fine. The next day, for no apparent reason, things aren't working right.

If there has been one enduring frustration for me over the entire 7 years of running this site, it has been in just keeping the damn thing afloat and running right.

Anyway, I hope we can get it fixed soon. It the mean time, thank you for your patience.

Thank you Michael!!!!

From a former neo-liberal supporter of democracy to a Libertarian, this site has helped set me free from my brainwashing. Thank you thank you thank you!!!! Liberty is strong in you my friend.

The Daily Paul...

is one of the smoothest running sites I visit.

Speaking of technical...

Speaking of technical, I like the posting software here, when it works. ;-) Does anybody (like Michael) know if it's written in perl, and if so, can I get a copy of the perl code? I'd like to set up something similar on my website: http://rich_grise.tripod.com/cgi-bin/index.pl

My son an I did computer

My son an I did computer repair for a decade, as a business. Never found a ghost in a machine. We did finding hundreds of malware infections.

'Bugs' was a computer that was never connected to the Internet, it was loaded and updated from CD.

This bypassed any rootkit that compromised the customer's OS.

Plug in the customers drive.

Copy to known good drive. Original acts as backup.

Run a suite of virus, malware and spyware checkers on data files from our clean OS.

Check customers drive with manufacturer's utility.

Low level format. One partition for OS one for data.

Re-install OS if required.

Restore drive data, defrag.

While Bugs was doing its task looking for ghosts the computer hardware got the once over. CPU, memory, power connections, video, network cards were all removed and replaced. Cables also suspect.

Crunch the cricket, is a good measure. Connections, connections, connections. Gold plating and silver solder are used to prevent connection problems. More than once the crunching the cricket was the solution for intermittent problems, especially on older hardware.

If this wouldn't do it I would suspect the Network Interface card is flaky.

Or maybe a bad stick of memory. Drives and memory use extensive error correction algorithms. When the hardware creates too many errors the error-correction can fail on bad drive sectors or memory cells. That kind of problem can be intermittent depending on where the data gets placed.

Today I would also use SpinRite to recover failing drive sectors. The manufacturer's utility doesn't try to recover drive data.

We closed over a decade ago, but the fundamentals don't change.

As soon as my debit card is reloaded, I'll donate $10.

Good hunting!

Do you have help?

This feels like a hard drive or storage issue to me but of course, I have no way of knowing. Could be a billion things. I can't help but to be curious of what's the problem.

I've spent hours before!

Something as minor as a failing CMOS battery in the server can cause a myriad of surprises. Nothing works right, and the least expensive solution being the last thing you check of course.

If you can read this thank a teacher. Because it's in English thank a soldier!

Rough waters, huh?

...a bit earlier than I had anticipated. I drew up a couple charts to study navigation of the larger swells...

The second chart reveals that our comments are timing out as our recovery is prolonged getting through such tremendous rolls. What we need is more butter! That should smooth out the process. I know our livestock is limited, and I am merely a theoretical cataclysmic engineer and not a veterinarian or dairy farmer with BGH, but etraordinary circumstances require extraordinary measures and my son suggested something to help possibly increase milk production. I'm at a loss and haven't yet thought of anything better, so what the heck. My son says to grab more milk buckets, more butter churns, and hurry to the cattle stalls! Oh yeah, and someone needs to stop by the chicken coop on the way for a drumstick. Interesting, my son is telling me not to credit him with this suggestion, but that he heard it as a message from above...

Hold on and catch your water feet...

another weird new anomoly - if you click your mouse to the left

of any particular comment, the screen re-centers to the origin comment.

This just started happening recently.

F Y'all I.

Pandacentricism will be our downfall.

Check out the wayback machine. You have to click twice...

to get a random page. This only started a few months ago, otherwise it was only one click for a new random page.

It seems like the same problem has become system-wide.

Pandacentricism will be our downfall.

Think.

The government controls the sheep. The people who are surprised are pawns.

Everything is okay here.

Thanks for the concern. We know it is not your fault.

"I know major allies who fund them" Gen. Dempsey referring to ISIS

Do we have an alternate site backup plan....

just in case we're being jammed on purpose by some "unknown" source? We've had this before and we had a backup site.

What worked for me

If the page won't finish loading with regular speed for your internet connection, select the DailyPaul link in the web browser's location bar - at the top of the browser window - then reload by clicking the reload button either in or beside the location bar, or press Return/Enter. Seems to be a quick fix that has worked fast each time.

They Live

Government employees clogging the system snooping on ex's? Trying to keep people from seeing the fake snow vids? Or maybe, just maybe, they don't want you to see the proof, THEY LIVE!

They Live (1988) !!! He even looks away when he realizes he lost control!!

It's only not funny if it is

It's only not funny if it is true.

They Live

A lot of trouble here too with dropped connections and time outs. Maybe the NSA to clogging the system looking at porn? Snooping on ex's? Or maybe they just don't want us to see this....

The DP is suffering from an overload of awesome.

The DP is nature, and Nystrom is natural selection. The DP is permitted to proliferate freely, and Nystrom and is pruning fork come to cull the produce.

It is a cruel, vital process, but it is producing something cool as a GMO cucumber.

Yeah.

Wer'e like the inklings, the bloomsburries and the NY intellectuals but we get it right. Come around with some bullshit and you find no quarter. Truth is an ice guiotine. Heads roll in all directions, and keep talking as they roll.

Truths crash each other like fusion and create the heat of jam sessions and new , heavier truths are formed in the reactor.

The mass grows and gravity increases. The traffic of the web tries to shoot by but photos get curved into the matrices of the DP's web of truths.

Quantum political events cause the uncertainty principle to falter, and the certainty increases. The mass increases, and minds are attracted to the awesomeness.

The cosmic selection process creates the awesome collective DP brain that reverberates with jams and sends out streams of consciousness at the rest of the internet.

The tendency to endless expansion into cold isolated regions of blog-matter and separateness is overcome by our dark matter.

Entropy is overcome with the peace, love and the golden streams of elemental output from the DP reactor.

This is happening.

Well, whatever it is, it's over.

Everything is fine now. Zero glitches in the past 15 minutes.

Update: on my other computer it's f'in up. Funny thing is, it doesn't say it is saving but it actually is. Open another window and the post is there.

The DP isn't sending the signal back to computer that message is received.

Pandacentricism will be our downfall.

That just happened.

Whoa!

I'd like to see those ideas boiled down to slogans that would look good on posters. I think that's what this revolution needs.

Hard boiled slogan.

I remember this one grassroots campaign ad from 2007 because of the slogan at the end:

So in the spirit of soul-searching and slogan-slamming...

The history of the past century,
is the propaganda that abrades the chalkboards of today.
But the internet intercepts deceptive films,
and confronts us with familiar phrases juxtaposed as memes.
We come to realize what was told to us were untruths
and what is out of the main-stream are the nuggets that we need to sluice.

Net Neutrality?

Maybe the internet gods decided the DP should be lower priority because they are liberal or Republican? :)

I am, of course, just kidding. But I have noticed a lot of service interruptions over the last week, and not just the DP.

I am struggling with a lot of my connections, but others work flawlessly. Weird, but I attribute it nothing beyond coincidence... Or the NSA. Both are constantly present, and a permanent part of our lives these days.
