You, your family and all your friends are going to die.

and its a beautiful thing.

I'm not telling you anything you don't know unless you're 4 years old. We all have contemplated our death at one time or another. We all know that everything living dies.

What I am expressing here is, do we really appreciate that everything will die? Perhaps we do from time to time, but do we have this presence of mind and realization on a daily basis?

Don't misunderstand me, I'm not suggesting we spend our days dwelling on death. I'm suggesting we spend our days dwelling on life. You see, if we were completely aware of this always in present conscientiousness, we would savor every moment of the days events because we know that this moment is as real as the hole in the ground we will occupy one day.

Appreciate the fact that you are reading this now as I appreciate the fact that I am able to communicate it to you.

Look at your spouse, your children your friends and savor the moment as if you were a time traveler from the future visiting yourself in the present day looking back at those very moments of your life.

This day that you are here today on the Daily Paul, at this moment you are part of a community of people. A pretty fantastic community. Look at all these posts and expressions from people we only know as a digital alias. People behind those aliases with thoughts and expressions that they gather in their mind and somehow translate those thoughts into their fingertips to push little buttons of plastic with symbols on it that we call letters. These patterns of electrical impulses from our mind are translated into a digital print for all to see and arrange with their minds to contemplate the message. It elicited a thought, a feeling , a response.....

That's amazing to me.

and to think this energy is only in this form called a person for an average of 80 years or so.

Live in the present and be aware because it will be over one day. That makes this moment right now that much more special.

There is a tune by the flaming lips called “Do you realize??”

It goes something like this:

“Do You Realize – that everyone you know someday will die
And instead of saying all of your goodbyes – let them know
You realize that life goes fast
It’s hard to make the good things last
You realize the sun doesn’t go down
It’s just an illusion caused by the world spinning round ”

I freaking love you guys!!!

Peace, Love and Life

Kerouac and I are not real at all. The only thing about a writer is that he has written, and not his so-called life. 'And we (will) all die and the stars will go out, one after another.'

-William S. Burroughs

i remember this bit near the end of a talk he gave at naropa institute in boulder, CO. about kerouac and fitzgerald. At the end he cut up the endings of both their most famous books for some nice new images. i believe that last line is from gatsby.

I thought if I voted for the right person, my life would be saved. I'm pretty sure they promised me eternal life--usually at only a small cost to me.

I sometimes wonder how many voters realize what wishful thinking is motivating their vote.

It's about time we got politicians out of our spiritual lives, as well as out of the business of our diets, healthcare, and prevention of accidents and crimes, and took responsibility for those, ourselves.

What do you think? http://consequeries.com/

How beautiful it is to

How beautiful it is to recognize the ability of recognition,
to live and to die is the only eternal tradition.
For our flesh descends with its last breath,
but our spirit ascends long after death.

With clay we are made into a malleable form,
breaking the mold of the old to fore go the norm.
A capsule of time dwells the sands of this earth,
with a limit of motion set by ones birth.

For the play goes on and we contribute a verse,
a role to cast love or even worse a curse.
What is the value of man beyond the ability to give?
What will you share with the life you live?

Peace and Blessings. May you find the spirit and accept your forgiveness.

They that give up liberty for security deserve neither.

In the words of Hank Williams

"No matter how I struggle and strive, I'll never get out of this world alive."

The gospel according to John, chapter 11, verses 23 thru 27

23 Jesus said to her, “Your brother will rise again.”

24 Martha answered, “I know he will rise again in the resurrection at the last day.”

25 Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die;
26 and whoever lives by believing in me will never die. Do you believe this?”

27 “Yes, Lord,” she replied, “I believe that you are the Messiah, the Son of God, who is to come into the world.”

New International Version(NIV)

With all due respect, I will no longer be a voting prostitute for Constitution rejecting harlots.

Amen Brethren

For the physical is temporary but the energy within the spirit of God is eternal.

May you find peace and comfort in the knowing that you are loved and forgiven, may each day be a reminder of the gift that is conscience existence.

They that give up liberty for security deserve neither.

Death is the price spirits have been willing to pay for a ticket to ride this adventure into the fun house of horrors called the physical universe, but it doesn't have to be that way. All you have to do is use your own Divine Spirit to, rather than reproduce a new body, channel the Divine Kundalini Chi back into yourself, switch from self-reproducing to self-sustaining, and use the Divine Spirit to heal the fragment of the Divine Will/Body that is you. We'll know in probably ten or twenty years how successful I am at it.

In the interim, write in Richard McCally Grise in 2016 and I'll fire the whole damn bureaucracy so people can be Free.

God's Will is Free Will, Free Will is God's Will. You can find it in your Root Chakra, which is located at the mathematical center of the torus that is your anal sphincter. That's right, I found God's Will in my own asshole. (this is why people have so much trouble finding it!)

Some of us know this and do not specifically disapprove, suffice to say that, and make no mistake that

This Is How I See It....

You see, while the person is alive the soul can hide IN THE BODY. When the body drops, the soul can no longer hide and is exposed by the light in the light.

The inclination of ones soul determines whether the soul will suffer in IN the light or LIVE in peace IN the light..

You can hide from God for a time, but life is short and we must all come to terms with the TRUTH when the body dies and the soul leaves the body..

no one ever really dies.

no one ever really dies. death is an illusion. peace.

f___ all forms of govt.

life is a killer

We're all in this together......

And no one gets out alive.

It is appointed

"It is appointed unto men once to die, and after this, the judgment"

Death is not the end!

This is what man must deal with and face, and therefore seek the mercy of God in Jesus Christ for forgiveness of all his sins, and then he can have true peace within, no matter what happens.

Peace everyone

Life is Terminal.

We are all heading the same way. This is another reason I feel evolution is pretty much a big giant lie. Adding time to this equation brings nothing but death and decay. Only negative changes are observed. Yeah we learn. We can change our mental outlook on things. But the flesh is frail and weak. Not long for this cruel world. Thanks for some fresh perspective. Much love to you and yours. God bless!!

But about myself I will not boast, except as it concerns my weaknesses (2 Cor 12:5). Let the unbelievers seek praise from each other; I wish that which is from God alone.

is a major factor in evolution. I am not sure how you came to the conclusion that death is not part of natural selection. Out of destruction comes creation. Someone dies yet another is born. It is somewhat gloomy to see the world in terms of merely "death and decay". This cruel world has some pretty great surprises. If the world and everything in it was created by God, cannot we see the flesh as strong and amazing? Or are we a failed prototype of God's as you suggest with "frail and weak"?

-Matthew Good

I meant what I said

Your body is strong only so long as there is water, air, gravity, food, etc. Take any one thing away and we are done. A little cut or unseen virus can end your life. I see things more in the way of artificial selection because we have the world so screwed up any system that might have once been considered natural is long gone. This world is finite and will not last on it's current course. Which is why we are called to not make this false world our idol but to set our sights on higher spiritual things.

But about myself I will not boast, except as it concerns my weaknesses (2 Cor 12:5). Let the unbelievers seek praise from each other; I wish that which is from God alone.

So many things needed for life here on planet earth

A sun that sends life giving sunshine and it must be at an exact distance from the earth, an continuing air supply, a constant food supply, a constant supply of clean water, protective barriers in our upper atmosphere that protect us from so many harmful rays.

The list is surely greater than this but to think unbiased about this one must conclude that some super powerful person, thing, something must be the origin of all this order and magnificent universe and all that it contains.

To not acknowledge this is to be willingly ignorant!

Yes, this "something", this "someone", has made Himself known to all mankind, and tells is that He is the Great I AM who has done all this!

ALL who deny Him do so for ONE PURPOSE ONLY, and that is to deny that this God speaks of accountability and judgment to come.

Seek Him today while you can, all you who are on the fence about this, that you may find mercy and forgiveness.

" In Thee O Lord do I put my trust " ~ Psalm 31:1~

Brilliant sub-line

But about myself I will not boast, except as it concerns my weaknesses (2 Cor 12:5). Let the unbelievers seek praise from each other; I wish that which is from God alone.

60 Years of Life

There is a popular Vietnamese song written by a prolific song writer named Y Vân. "60 năm cuộc đời" or "60 years of life" speaks to the finiteness of life while strumming the courting theme of love throughout. Perhaps fittingly, Y Vân passed away at about 60 years of age. Below is the song along with my rough English translation of the lyrics.

Darling how long do we have? Just 60 years of life!
The first 20 years, just short but sweet bliss.
The next 20 years, tough times will pass.
The last 20 years, that's all!
Oh that's it! Life isn't much.
Oh that's all! Life isn't long at all.
Oh how many years will we have to love?
Darling how long do we have? Just 60 years of life!
When you're not near, how will I love?
If we are to love, let's love all our days.
For how long will we live?

In case anyone is curious, the lyrics above connote the perspective (voice) of a female. The first instance of "darling" or "anh" is spoken from female to male although the perspective can be simply changed by switching instances of "anh" for "em" and vice versa. In the video below, the female singer modernizes the song by subtly switching '60 years' for '90 years' perhaps given her more positive outlook on longevity.

Lastly, my comment on mortality. If mortality was not a certainty, how could there be charity? Aside from constant warfare to gather scarce resources, even the sanctity we traditionally place on posterity would be undermined by baser survival instincts. Charity proceeds from the certainty that there is more to share than there is to be had in one lifetime.

Thanks Dex

Thank you, Dexter, for this post.

I just finished watching "About Time" for the 2nd time. It's about a guy with a genetic ability passed on through the males in his family to travel through time.

I identify with this film so much because he lives through his father's death and finds that at a certain point he can no longer go back in time to visit his father (for reasons you'll find out in the film). But prior to that moment, he is able to go back in time to prolong his father's death - spend more time talking with him, enjoying moments with him.

But the point of the film is, cherish every moment because nothing lasts forever.

Seriously crying as I write this as I wish I would known my father would die so early because I wouldn't have taken my moments with him for granted. The best moments I had with him were the most ordinary of days.

Thank you for sharing

I intend to watch this now that you have given me a teaser...

No tears of regret...just make a promise to yourself that from this day forward you will cherish and be present today. We all learn from our experiences.

Best my friend..
