Violence is Golden

This article is for those who believe like me, that while aggression is abhorrent, violence is sometimes a necessity.

It's important to differentiate non aggression and non violence.

--

A lot of people like to think they are “non-violent.” Generally, people claim to “abhor” the use of violence, and violence is viewed negatively by most folks. Many fail to differentiate between just and unjust violence. Some especially vain, self-righteous types like to think they have risen above the nasty, violent cultures of their ancestors. They say that “violence isn’t the answer.” They say that “violence doesn’t solve anything.”

They’re wrong. Every one of them relies on violence, every single day.

On election day, people from all walks of life line up to cast their ballots, and by doing so, they hope to influence who gets to wield the axe of authority. Those who want to end violence — as if that were possible or even desirable — often seek to disarm their fellow citizens. This does not actually end violence. It merely gives the state mob a monopoly on violence. This makes you “safer,” so long as you don’t piss off the boss.

All governments — left, right or other — are by their very nature coercive. They have to be...

Respectfully I completely disagree with the OP

The English definition of "violence" is "behavior involving physical force intended to hurt, damage, or kill someone or something". A physical force intended to protect/enforce one's rights is not violent. It is something else. The Latin root "violare" means "to violate, infringe, break, rape, or profane".

When a thief breaks into your home at night, you may find it necessary to grab an axe and kill the thief. Although the thief may have only succeeded in breaking your window and you have killed the attacker in a most gory way, the thief is the one who committed an act of violence, where you committed a peaceful act.

I do not believe any act of violence is necessary.

Michael Nystrom's fists can punch through FUD.

not buying it.

I do not agree violence is the act not the motivation.
If I intentionally punch you in the face, whether it is offensive or defensive it is a violent act. The integrity of your face has still been violated.

The word definitions will

The word definitions will define the argument. Can't say that I would disagree with your points..
Yet I see the OP's point as well and agree with him as well (how's that for riding the fence?). It is common for "the people" to use words outside of their "official" definition and I think that most people have another definition for "violence" which just means to make an aggressive act against another person even if it is justified.
I think the meaning is clear though. When someone acts against you you are justified in acting against them (do we all agree on this)?

I sick of violence

and sick of being deceived and manipulated. "War what is it go far, absolutely nothing!"

"We can see with our eyes, hear with our ears and feel with our touch, but we understand with our hearts."

"War! What is it good for,

"War! What is it good for, earnings per share..."

The sad truth.

We all share this eternally evolving present moment- The past and future only exist as inconsequential mental fabrications.

We're getting old

at a certain point we realize we won't be around to enjoy the victory or regret the loss. Somebody's gonna win, somebody's gonna lose and then it happens again. Lather, rinse, repeat. Maybe we'll figure it out next time.

Be brave, be brave, the Myan pilot needs no aeroplane.

Until you get invaded.

Then war starts to look like a splendid idea.

You can be sick of it

but the fact remains that it is still at times necessary.
