Boehner throws in the towel on the debt limit

Just days away from the deadline to extend the nation's borrowing limit, Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) told House Republicans in a private meeting not to fight it, according to Roll Call.

Said Boehner: "There's no sense picking a fight we can't win."

Despite calls from House Budget Chairman Paul Ryan (R-Wisc.) to insist on concessions from President Obama, Boehner knows it's not possible without risking default on the nation's debt.

Treasury Secretary Jacob Lew set a deadline of Friday to pass a bill. He said that otherwise he would need to take "extraordinary measures" to stretch out the current borrowing authority until the end of the month.

Instead of arguing

Instead of arguing and posturing, just promptly bring up a clean bill for a vote, and then watch it fail. And then do nothing. Say, OK Dems, we put up a clean bill and it didn't pass. We're not posturing, we're waiting for you to propose something that works for us.

Take back the GOP and Restore America Now.

Boehner cant make a decission to throw in a towel.

He is a sold out self enriching pig puppet of the False debt slave counterfeiter debt/extortion Rothschild banker overlords.

He is such a good and willing puppet he shows his love for IzUnReal to seek affection Of his debt slave masters. In another time he would have been the slave with the whip happily (just doing his job) drawing the blood of fellow slaves.

Boener is just

a good Collectivist boy. The right continues to blame Obama for the debt increases, but the debt has increased $4 trillion with GOP controlling the House, with Boener at the helm. The House appropriates the money, and Boener and the GOP Corporate Collective have given Obama everything he's demanded, thus appropriating all this debt. There goal, as a Collective with the Democrats, has been to push the status quo, and hopefully disgust the Tea Party/Liberty voters, so the establishment can eliminate the pests confronting their agenda. When Boener became speaker, he made it a point to play golf with Obama, where they are free to speak without the possibility of being recorded. This is one of the reason Obama plays golf all the time. To meet with people unaccountably and to avoid insiders leaking the real agenda.

"Boehner throws in the [orange-tear-stained] towel"

But seriously, of course he did. Who would expect otherwise from this character?

This is interesting though...

"Despite calls from House Budget Chairman Paul Ryan (R-Wisc.) to insist on concessions from President Obama, Boehner knows it's not possible without risking default on the nation's debt."

O really? You insist on concessions do you Paul? If memory serves, that's the same Paul Ryan who just weeks ago pioneered the deal which undid the sequester (you know, that farcically small promised future reduction in the rate of increase of federal spending...which apparently was just too "draconian" for "fiscal conservatives" like Paul Ryan to bear), correct? :-O (!!!) And now he's pretending to "insist on concessions" over the debt ceiling? What a CLOWN!!!

Joel Skousen Predicted This Last October and Explained WHY

Here's a portion of what he stated in his October 18, 2013 World Affairs Brief (

I said at the beginning that Boehner would give it away in the end but I never envisioned the results would be this bad. Conservatives lost much more in this fight to stop Obamacare and hold the line on deficit spending—they lost the war. By allowing Boehner and other "moderate" (meaning: compromising) Republicans to sabotage the debate, take the blame without rebuttal and walk away with absolutely nothing to show for the fight, they lost the ability to launch another battle in January. They’ve set the stage for the media to demand there will never be another threat of a government “shutdown” even though there never was a shutdown and default was never a real threat.

This is similar to what the Republicans did in sabotaging the impeachment of Bill Clinton. It was the Republican leadership that hobbled and restricted the attack on Clinton, not the Democrats, according to prosecutor David Schippers (a Democrat). Republicans purposely made a folly of the impeachment process so as to poison the public’s toleration for impeachment ever again. By only concentrating on his sexual problems and evading more serious issues like technology transfers to China, the case appeared weak and embarrassed the whole process. No one will even dare to suggest impeachment now because they made a laughing stock of the process.

The NY Times summarized the typical media reaction:

Congressional Republicans conceded defeat
on Wednesday in their bitter budget fight
with President Obama over the new health
care law as the House and Senate approved
last-minute legislation ending a disruptive
6-day government shutdown and extending
federal borrowing power to avert a financial
default with potentially worldwide economic

The pro-government media is rejoicing that the two major attacks on increased government power have successfully been defeated — probably forever: the defunding of Obamcare and the threat against a continuing increase of the debt limit. There was no threat of “default with potential worldwide economic repercussions” as the Times claimed. But continuing down the path we are now on is going to lead to eventual default, as Peter Schiff said this week:

Default is inevitable...anyway. But we're
not going to default because we don't raise
the debt ceiling. We're going to default

Unfortunately, the political waters of conservative opposition to both have been forever poisoned by the way this was fought. House Speaker John Boehner had the audacity to claim (NY Times),

“We fought the good fight,” said Speaker
John A. Boehner of Ohio, who has struggled
to control the conservative faction in the
House, in an interview with a Cincinnati
radio station. “We just didn’t win.”

They got the part about “controlling” the conservative faction right. But they missed the fact that Boehner sabotaged the entire fight by what he DIDN’T say as the battle progressed. He agreed to not criticize each other, which worked only to favor the administration. He thus gave up his only weapon in the propaganda war. Not once did the Republican leadership effectively broadcast to the world how the Obama administration set out to purposely and unnecessarily shut down aspects of government parks, memorials, and lands which was unnecessary and saved little money—simply to make life difficult. If Republicans had only used the kind of list of egregious examples I published last week they could have directed the public’s anger toward Obama, ...

Can't hardly blame him. They

Can't hardly blame him. They can overspend without consequences, it's an election year, and last time they tried to impose fiscal restraint the Dems and the MSM painted them as uncaring Scrooges.

Enough said

Boehner: Typical conservative.

Boehner knows if he raises a fuss over the debt ceiling then he might have to cut some of the massive govt programs conservatives love...
That's why the itty bitty sequestration quietly went bye-bye.
Why do you think both parties and the media HATE Libertarians?

Wrong Boehner=Typical GOP Establishment.

Someone who long ago was co-opted into the Big Gov Loving Crony Capitalism world which is K-Street and it's allies.

Boehner is a subversive agent of the left

He is a complete and utter pushover.
Every single time.
He acts as an apologist for the Republican party, and conservatives.
The guy is beyond useless and should be attacked more often by real conservatives.
He is a gatekeeper. Speaker of the House is a powerful position, and he is conceding it to the political opposition.
The only Republican policies/bills he supports are the authoritarian/collectivist ones.

How about we start looking for places to cut funding. The House has all the authority to determine what gets funded. At least they are supposed to. But sell-out phonies like Boehner make sure there is no real opposition to the NWO policies.

Are you a POT or a PET - Person Embracing Tyranny?

They've repeatedly gone past the treasurer's limit

This is old hat. The treasurer takes these "extraordinary measures" and keeps the government chugging along.

There is only one cure for the debt limit problem--limit the debt. Disallow borrowing in excess of the limit, only rolling over existing debt. Cut spending, damn it.

The truth is, Obama has been reducing the deficit while the Republicans have been drawing false lines in the sand and then caving--over and over and over. Boehner is just resigned to the fact that nobody believes Republicans' budget bluff any longer. The sequester, the shutdown, just hoax on top of hoax, Republicans scheming to lie to their voters.

The TEA Party needs to take names. List exactly who never caved, never voted for compromise in the House and Senate and defend them, and at the same time campaign hard to remove the fiduciary traitors in primary challenges. Borrowing by the government (aka the Fed printing money out of thin air) is a tax, because it inevitably leads to inflation, making my wages worth less.

Boehner's towel is

So stiff it can stand up on it's own

Boehner has forgotten what one is & how to have one.

Now is the time to stand-tall, to stand for something worthy of fighting for. This guy would not know a balanced budget from a bankruptcy.

Just prohibit borrowing until debt is paid.

Cut spending to the bone. Eliminate 5 departments.

Free includes debt-free!

Why is every show getting so silly these days?

Even the D vs R show is getting sillier and sillier. The reality is they couldn't think of a catchy name this time and said, "Forget it, we can always act like we're totally against it again in a few months."
