Statistics questions

If an illness causes 1% of all deaths then:

1) How many people would I need to enroll in a randomized control trial to show my drug is effective at reducing the cause specific mortality of this illnesses (at the P<0.05 level)?

2) How many people would I need to enroll in a randomized control trial to show my drug (which is effective against only the one illness) is effective at reducing all cause mortality (at the P<0.05 level)?

Thanks.
