Arsenio Hall stands his ground against gay protesters

A group of protesters confront Arsenio during a taping of his show. He stands his ground. I wanted you guys to see this video, because it illustrates how crazy the world has become. This incident occurred almost 20 years ago, but it seems as though nothing has changed. I love Arsenio's reaction, I would of done the same thing.

I lol'd

at the point where Arsenio was arguing with the audience member over which one of them was a member of the more victimized victim group.

But to play Devil's advocate, I wonder what Arsenio would have said if Johnny Carson had been making black jokes on his show.

He handled that extremely well

These people are like westboro church cult.

Ha that was awesome

Unfortunately in America where we are all PC, all things can be hijacked now for the agenda of a minority to press their beliefs on others.

"Once you become knowledgeable, you have an obligation to do something about it."- Ron Paul

I support Arsenio's right to say what he wants on his show but..

...I wonder if the poster and the commenters would defend Arsenio as zealously if he had made jokes about Jesus or Christianity. If the poster can sincerely answer "Yes" then I'm totally behind this post. Political correctness sucks. Everyone should feel free to joke about gays, straights, Jews, Christians, Muslims, Indians, whatever...

No-one but Paul!

You mean...

Fags and queers, chicks and dudes, Kikes and Hook-nosed jew-ball Hebes, Lunatics and Zombies, More Lunatics and Zombies, Redskins and Prarie Niggers, whatever...

Wha? .....hey....who stole my country?

Well, can't speak for others, but

Well, can't speak for others, but as a, say, "independent", quasi-non-religious Christian, I assume there must be a number of atheists events and shows going all over the place and all the time...

... and even if I had 10 other lifetimes, it's very unlikely I'd ever go after those just for the sake of contradicting them or to try changing their minds.

My life keeps me too busy for that sort of errands! That's for the trivially practical.

But even before that, as for the principles:

among my basic assumptions, once I became an adult, is that people can usually only change their minds or belief systems by and for themselves, when that has to happen.

The social thing (aka "society") is only a set of hints for people's intellects and hearts, IMO.

I totally agree with this statement. My question is what was the poster's intention in posting this? Was it not some animosity against gays? I see people commenting about the "Gay Mafia". You're welcome to use that term...and I will use the term "Christian Mafia". For every one example you can bring up of gays pushing their agenda, I can bring up 30 examples of Christians pushing their agenda. Maybe I should. Sorry, but if you dish it, you should be able to take it.

The fact is both gays and Christians are collectivist groups that I disagree with and can't identify with. But at least one leaves me be (gays) while the other insists on trying to push it's unwelcome lifestyle on me. Which of the two would I consider is trying to assault my individual liberties? Where I live I see a church in every corner but the gay bars are concentrated in one corner of the city. Which group's infiltration of society would you think would worry me more?

I am as proud of Arsenio (someone I am pretty sure is NOT a homophobe) for standing his ground as I am disappointed in the poster (who I suspect IS a homophobe).

True Christians reveals themselves by their records

True Christians will never try to use force against you aggressively, for whatever reason.

At the most, they will preach their good news, Jesus, and speak out against everything which is either against Life or against Justice - by their righteous examples in their daily, like Ron Paul among a few others.

The neat thing is their values are perfectly in sync with what and who founded this country, as I see it - liberty and free men.

Now, those "Christians" who booed Ron Paul on the Golden Rule once, on the other hand, revealed for most of them to be as much Christians as I am the last specimen of the male Pink Unicorn... if you had such behaviors in mind.

I do not see all atheists as Stalin, either, for example.

Christianity is ALL about the individual and his/her free choice to save him/herself.

What did he say?!

... he said: "this is MY show, this is MY show...!"

What Arenio really said is:
This is MY body, I smoke and eat what I want!
This is MY land, I decide what to plant on my farm!
This is MY business, I decide what wages I pay and who gets employed here!
This is MY work, I call myself what I believe to be without(gov) permission! (Licensing, bonding, insuring, CE credits, audits...)
These are MY fruits of MY labor and risk taking, I get to decide how to spend it, where to donate it! Get off my back you bunch of thieves called IRS!

We had enough of the meddling in OUR lives by little, envious complainers and their government bullies...

Damn right its 20 yrs old; Arsenio would be canned for that toda

Damn right its 20 years old; Arsenio would be canned in like 8 seconds if he tried a stunt like that today!

The gay mafia is the lynchpin of supreme power in the DNC today: cultural kowtowing to these radical cadres guarantees the flows of dirty money from the centers of media and entertainment straight into Democrat coffers. Its far more potent than anything organized labor can muster. That's why the MSM runs 24/7 nonstop gay news: keeping their self-interests front and center to ensure maximum donations to the DNC.

Considering even the hardest left progressives are expecting big trouble in the 2014 elections for Democrats thanks to all the bungling of 2013, they need every stinking dime from the gay mafia just to stay relevent.

Yep, Espn also.

I think this thing was scripted to take place?

.

You may be right about it being scripted. I thought that too.

But maybe it's just the conspiracy theorist in me again!

I think you're right, just looking back on it.

First of all...

Arsenio hasn't been on TV, not even film - not sure if there is a direct correlation? Thought I just saw that he finally has a new show.

Today if this happened he'd probably be stoned to death and the audience would cheer on the activists while they did it. He did say something very telling though that he is black. Maybe he'd be spared just for that fact.

When I see things like this I think of white supremecists and other radical organizations that want us to believe that they are some special class of people.

Could you clairify your first statement

Because it sounds like you have no idea who Arsenio is. Hell, I remember his skit in the Kentucky Fried Movie which had me cracking up much less his rolls in movies such as Coming to America.

Are you sure you're not

Are you sure you're not thinking of 'Amazon Women on the Moon?'

I could have sworn it was Kentucky Fried Movie

Guess I shall have to "force" myself to rewatch both movies to ensure future accuracy. That'll teach me.

Interesting. I had missed that one, so far...

Well, he nailed it, anyway, when he said:

"[...] What's wrong with you?! That's MY show! Get yourself YOUR OWN show! [etc.]

Kaboom!

+1 for Mr. Hall's common sense.

Kudos to Arsenio but he was not totally correct...

He said "I'm black man. I'm the biggest minority you know about"

WRONG! He should have used the word "INDIVIDUAL" - not "BLACK."

Like Ayn Rand and Ron Paul told us: "THE SMALLEST MINORITY IN THE WORLD IS THE INDIVIDUAL"

Until we all come to agree on that, there will always be divisions along any line people choose to make.

Color, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual preference, disability, age etc.

I could make an argument that one-armed, deaf, Hopi Indian women are the smallest minority in the world and that they should get special rights.

Or that living World War Two American veterans of Japanese decent who got wounded in 1944 might be the smallest minority.

Make up any group you want but it gets ridiculous.

Anyone who argues with the credo that it's the INDIVIDUAL who gets certain rights (and that they come from their creator - not man) simply does not agree with the basic principles of liberty.

"We have allowed our nation to be over-taxed, over-regulated, and overrun by bureaucrats. The founders would be ashamed of us for what we are putting up with."
-Ron Paul

Arsenio taught me how to do it BETTER!

WRONG! He should have used the word "INDIVIDUAL" - not "BLACK."

No. Arsenio chose his words quite effectively. I understand your suggestion, your thinking, similar to my own thinking at first, but that wouldn't have worked as well in this particular situation. He was wise to momentarily embrace the heckler's terms. My heart skipped a beat as Arsenio used the terms in question [much as maybe yours did], but his point proved to be extremely effective as he eventually ditched those terms to the wayside. Everyone is free to see themselves as "black", "white", "jewish", "female", etcetera, at any given moment. It's that we don't lose touch with ourselves as individuals [or even generically human] when we do that. That we remain unshaken, that our priorities and moral paradigms go undisturbed, was Arsenio's point, and that was a great point! He dabbled in the terminology of making such labels a priority, he showed us how absurd it was, and he ended as the consummate individual. He had to enter the heckler's cave to slay the dragon. Had he merely stood outside the entrance and merely said what you suggest, he simply would have been a heckler himself, and the video would simply have displayed the bickering clash of condescending hypocrites.

Yup.

Yup.

Nothing against Jay leno

Nothing against Jay Leno really, but back in the day I kinda hoped Arsenio would be Carson's Tonight Show replacement.

Nice find Buck50, really nails it!
