True self-reliance begins with self-love!

There is a lot of discussion here about self-reliance, sovereignty and the such. And that is wonderful. However, true self-reliance begins with self-love and self-love cannot manifest wholly unless one has respect for one's body, one's mind and one's fellow man.

Be your own doctor. Be your own philosopher. And be your own teacher.

Peace and Love always.

To Learn to Say, "I Love You,'

'One must first learnt to say 'I.'"

-Ayn Rand

many is the time...

I've reflected OFTEN on exactly that.

34 But when the Pharisees had heard that he had put the Sadducees to silence, (pwned em) they were gathered together.

35 Then one of them, which was a lawyer, (ha!) asked him a question, tempting him, (just like a lawyer) and saying,

36 Master, which is the great commandment in the law?
(this, was an MSM abush interview question.. you'd have to know the context.. yeah, its been going on a LONG time. )

37 Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.

38 This is the first and great commandment.

39 And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.

40 On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.

God PRESUMES you love yourself.. he's OK, just fine, at peace and PRESUMES the concept as being 'in place' already.. and INCLUDES IT in one of the most concise, all encompassing statements ever made in scripture.
It's ok folks... He's also very big on self-determination and voluntary contracts.

I hate that...
Honestly do..
When you post something from your heart that happens to be 'religious' and it kills a thread or starts a war of words.
Just move on... I'm not meaning to 'challenge' ANYONE or anything.
I love the OP's thought... its how I think... that's all it is.

The DP is like a sanctuary.. a refuge to me.
I have close friends but have not attended a 'church' regularly in years. I just simply haven't lost my faith and don't fear
sharing here. I enjoy sparing too.. but only sometimes.. usually when an attack and self defense seems important.

There's no agenda here. I love my atheist brothers and sisters in freedom and I will and would defend your right to believe WHATEVER you want.
Pen? thanks for your thoughts.. you've posted some good ones and I look forward to them. :)

"One" is singular. "Their" is plural.

Were you using grammatically-incorrect, politically-correct speech? Or are you referring to some multiple-fold nature of man, e.g., body, soul, and spirit? ;)

When we try to pick out anything by itself, we find it hitched to everything else in the Universe.

thanks for the critique.

Father - Husband - Son - Spirit - Consciousness

for good measure.

Father - Husband - Son - Spirit - Consciousness

On The Subject Of Self-Love, ...

... so to speak. Here's what the good (self-medicated, self-destructed) doctor, Hunter S. Thompson, had to say on the topic, remarking on negative self-centeredness and ennui as a resignation response to the times.
[ I really offer this just to provocatively bump your encouraging thread. I particularly enjoyed Goldenequity's fine comment, BTW ]. :

"There are times, however, and this is one of them, when even being right feels wrong. What do you say, for instance, about a generation that has been taught that rain is poison and sex is death? If making love might be fatal and if a cool spring breeze on any summer afternoon can turn a crystal blue lake into a puddle of black poison right in front of your eyes, there is not much left except TV and relentless masturbation. It's a strange world. Some people get rich and others eat shit and die."
