rEVOLutionary ads. Seriously? Seriously.

Dear friends of Liberty,
Remember when our grassroots enthusiasm shocked the establishment when we made a blimp fly, lined highways in the nation with homemade Ron Paul signs, detonated the largest money bomb in history, saw the rise of grassroots super brochures, and even inspired one of our own to make a wildly popular social networking site?

It is in this liberty-energized, activist vein that I write to you now.

Imagine standing on a street corner holding a sign promoting your favorite Liberty oriented candidate to the traffic that passes by. Not tough to imagine - many of us have been there, done that :)

Now imagine being able to hold up 50 or 100 signs simultaneously. And imagine they are held up 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. And imagine the street in front of you is so filled with traffic, it is measured in the billions per day.

That’s what I want to share with you today. I want to tell you how you can get your message of Liberty in front of those billions of eyes.

This is about rEVOLutionary advertising - creatively using Google Adwords to advance the cause of Liberty - all on a shoestring budget.

(For you Google haters out there, this thread is about how to leverage Adwords to advance Liberty, so please feel free to hate but please don’t do it on this thread :)

I created a presentation with a lot of details and some case studies to show you some actual examples. I've been using Adwords for a few years now for my home business, and I learned a lot about how to get advertising done on a tight budget. How inexpensive can it be? Give it a try with 20 FRNs and see how you like it. Used correctly, 20 FRNs can give you thousands of views, hundreds of clicks, and a huge sense of satisfaction.

You can read the presentation to see how it all works, I have a lot of screen shots and instructions to help.

So start thinking...what kind of messages would you want to promote?

Want to help the challengers to politicians like Sen. Lindsey Graham? Make some ads promoting them and linking to their donation page.

Did a boneheaded move by a local politician stoke your ire? Make some ads that highlight the issue and link to an online article.

Do you have a local Liberty group that you want to promote? Make some ads and get some traffic to your site.

Some have told me that I should not broadcast this knowledge widely, since anyone including neocons can use it to their advantage. I reject this warning for three reasons: one, I have faith that Liberty minded activists have far more energy and passion for their cause than our opponents; two, Liberty minded candidates don't have the backing of big money and this is a way to help equalize the playing field in our favor; and three, I am having way too much fun making rEVOLutionary ads to keep all this to myself.

So what do you think? Are you willing to invest a little sweat equity and a nominal amount of FRNs to advance the cause of Liberty using online advertising? Are you ready to start your own advertising campaigns so you can be a counter to the Political Establishment Machine in 2014 and 2016? I bet, you are.

Helpful advice when making "independent expenditures"

When you act to influence a Federal election, be sure to be aware of the campaign finance regulations. The good news is that "independent expenditures" are unlimited (you can buy as much advertising as you want), but after you've spent $250 or more to influence a specific election, you have to file a report with the FEC.

When making an independent expenditure, you also have to include (wherever practical) a notice stating that you have paid for the communication and that it is not authorized by any candidate's committee. Obviously, this notice won't fit in an Adwords ad, but if your ad sends visitors to a landing page, the disclaimer should be visible there.

If you pool your funds with other people, or work with others on your campaign, and spend over $1,000 on a single election, you could become a "campaign committee." Campaign committees are subject to additional reporting requirements.

And remember, foreigners, corporations, unions and federal contractors are forbidden from spending money to influence Federal elections.

These incumbent protection regulations were brought to you by the McCain-Feingold campaign finance law. I'm not a lawyer, so don't ask me for advice. You can call the FEC directly at 800-424-9530 with questions.

Make sure you aren't competing against eachother

Make sure you aren't competing against one another on keywords in Google Adwords or you'll drive up the Cost Per Click on each other.

Love it!

And I encourage people to remember the liberty media creators, they can definitely use all our help advertising their work!

When liberty has won the day in past history, it has been because of something in the media of the day that became popular and pushed the culture, and then the culture pushed the political class – it’s vital we support liberty media with mainstream potential.

Is there a way to pool our money

or does it have to be done individually? I think the idea is interesting. How much time is involved?

keeping this bumped

for discussion, thank you OP for this information, keep up the great work!!!!

Doesn't take long...

You should be able to make your first ad campaign in 1 hour or less. The presentation shows you how, step by step.

More importantly, it's a skill set you learn, and then exercise whenever you want. Sometimes I go quite a long time without touching any ad campaigns, while sometimes I spend maybe an hour working across multiple campaigns. It's not a one time activity. Ads for my small business are pretty static with no ending time but my rEVOLutionary ads can change and typically I set an ending date, so they are always cycling.

Here's an example. Remember Rand Paul's filibuster on drones several months ago? Well, the minute the filibuster started, I knew google searches for the words "filibuster", "Rand Paul" and "drones" would go through the roof. So I took 10 minutes in the morning and made a new AdGroup for the filibuster, with those keywords, and with these three ads:

Drones flying overhead?
Get active in changing local
politics with Campaign for Liberty

Concerned About Drones
Get active in changing local
politics with Campaign for Liberty

Stop Drones In America
Get active in changing local
politics with Campaign for Liberty

I figured, why not capitalize on the traffic and maybe get some traffic for Michigan Campaign for Liberty?

Turns out, those ads got thousands of impressions and over a dozen clicks. It took maybe 10 minutes to make the adgroup. So certainly, time well spent.

Another spontaneous ad campaign started when I saw TMOT's outstanding job in a recent US Senate debate. I thought, everyone in Georgia that googles any of these senate candidates, they should get an ad saying TMOT won that debate, with a link to that video. So now the campaign is up and running, generating impressions and clicks. Here is an example of one of those ads:

Grayson for US Senate
Video of Georgia Senate debate
shows Derrick Grayson clear winner

If you get an ad campaign started, yes you are doing it individually with your google account. Your involvement level is purely up to you according to your own schedule & interest :)

Ad Campaign for TMOT, Derrick Grayson

I just created a new rEVOLutionary ads campaign for Derrick Grayson, TMOT. This is in honor of his stellar performance at a recent US Senate debate:

I walked through the creation process of a whole campaign step-by-step, captured it all via screenshots, and updated the presentation. It is truly a step by step guide now.

I did this with Facebook advertising

Using free coupons of $50 to target voters. Do you have a chip in for this? I just want to say thank you for the incredibly simplified slideshow! Hopefully many utilize this! I know, I will.

Nice job on The FaceBook...

I'm one of 386 people left in the country without an account on The FaceBook, but nice job capitalizing on that platform for your Liberty-inspired advertising! Maybe you can make a google drive presentation of how you did it and share the techniques with us all?

Best of luck on your own rEVOLutionary ads using Adwords! Let us know how it goes and what ideas you have on ad campaigns!

Hey OP (or anyone), I've got a domain and server if you want

I have RonPaulAds.US if you want it, and I also could probably give you some server space. My server is fed by a 100m symmetric fiber. PM me.

Anybody wanna donate?

I'd like to see this get about a billion hits between now and Nov. 2016. I have no money. What can we work out?

Just a bump to say Adwords

Just a bump to say Adwords does work great for some purposes. I use it for business purposes. I imagine the political off-season right now is the most cost efficient time to start spending money and planting seeds.

Ads for Michigan Campaign For Liberty

I created a whole series of ads to drive traffic to the Michigan Campaign for Liberty website. I didn't include it in the presentation because it is a rather complex setup of over 20 adgroups and 100+ ads. Over the span of about 8 months, the ads have had over 33,000 views and almost 500 clicks, at an average cost-per-click of $.17

This is something *any* of us can do!

Not a bad idea

so I guess it's a good idea;)

I have been using adwords express for my business for a couple years. We generate about 100 clicks/4000 views a month on about $40/month.

I assume different ads from different users can redirect to a common website?

C_T_CZ's picture

Different ads from different users link to common site...

Absolutely correct.

We can have 10, or 100, or 1000 people all making ads pointing to Justin Amash's or Rand Paul's donation pages, for example.

We can also make some ads directing people to the Daily Paul. Then Daily Paul traffic will go up, Michael can charge more for the ads shown on this site, then he can retire early, go fishing more often, and make wildly generous contributions to Liberty minded candidates of his choice :)

Great idea...

Should be easy to leverage these concepts for precisely that kind of situation. It empowers you, as a Liberty activist, with a new toolset to get your message of Liberty out there without relying on "big ad buys" from your favorite candidate.

I look forward to hearing your result. Feel free to contact me if you run into any questions.
