White House: No more information about drone killings will be released to public

Vince Coglianes, Executive Editor
The Daily Caller | 02/07/2013

White House Press Secretary Jay Carney told reporters Thursday that the Obama administration will not be releasing any more information about the controversial use of drones to kill American citizens.

Carney’s remarks, via the White House’s transcript of the off-camera press gaggle:

“This is not an open-ended process. This is a specific and unique accommodation in this circumstance. The fact is, when it comes to public disclosure, we have been — not with the kind of attention that’s been given it this week — but we have been publicly discussing these matters at the highest levels of government for the very reason that I’ve given, which is the President understands that these are core issues about how we conduct ourselves in war, how the President of the United States — any President — balances his constitutional obligation to protect America and American citizens, and his obligation to do so in a manner that is lawful under the Constitution and reflects our values.

“The President takes these issues very seriously, and he believes that the conversation about this is valid and that the questions about it are legitimate. And that’s why he has been leading this process internally to — as has John Brennan, by the way — to provide public information as much as possible, mindful of the fact that we are talking about here very sensitive matters, and that these kinds of things — they’re classification — information is classified for very legitimate reasons that go right to our national security interest.

“But within that, there is an effort underway to provide Congress information — those who have oversight over these matters — classified information as well as unclassified with the white paper and the public information as much as possible.”

... It's from last year.

If you are trying to "balance" your "Constitutional obligation"

You've already fallen off.

The only conceivable legitimacy of the Constitution is that the government is bound by it.

If I write on a piece of paper that I have the power to do thus and such to you and you do not sign it, it is not legitimate.

If I write on a piece of paper that I have the power to do thus and such, and no other power and will provide thus and such service in return, it is still illegitimate, but at least it is plausible.

But only so long as I abide the constraints.

The only legitimacy any government even hypothetically has, is in obeying the constraints laid on it by that piece of paper.

Like the defiant cheating spouse

who has been caught in a lie. "We have discussed it! I don't want to talk about it anymore. Let's move on!".

Oh how lucky we've been

“This is not an open-ended process. This is a specific and unique accommodation in this circumstance"

Dear leader has been so accommodating to us!

They could release more information

but then they'd have to kill us.

What, again?

See title.

How soon till?

How soon till those who blatantly ignore the Rights of Others (i.e. Trial by Jury, Search & Seizure, Bear Arms, etc) have those same Rights ignored by those they assume must observe them?

I think those in power have been there for too long and those who have only been in power a short time, believe they have Just Power with perverted consent.

This is a recipe for disaster, for all involved. Those in power must understand that the US Military and 'Security' Agencies have been very thorough instructors on how to subvert and overthrow governments. When and/or if TSHTF those people and organizations found to be the cause will be judged and tried outside of the courts, just as they have been judging and trying others outside the courts.

Personally I don't think it is too late for TPTB to excuse themselves from Power and in doing so excusing themselves from more extreme judgement. The way that they are holding onto and gathering more power today only invites more chaos when they lose grip from squeezing too hard.

Fine...

No more of OUR information to the White House either.

God forgives always. Man forgives sometimes. But Nature never forgives.

Now that's...

transparency we can believe in.

It's Only A Matter Of Time.....

It's only a matter of time before they can build drones the size of a bumble bee that can land on you without you noticing and sting you with a lethal injection.

Ed Rombach

Are you sure they're not

Are you sure they're not already doing that????

Are you sure they're not already doing that?

No, not sure at all but if they develop the technology I reckon they will make use of it.

Now you're sure:

You can thank DARPA for this one.

If you don't know your rights, you don't have any.

You do realize

That it would be far cheaper, easier, and much more effective to simply drive/fly a current gen drone up and gas you, right? A little C4 strapped to a four wheel radio controlled car with a camera would do the trick in a snap.

Hire a teenager

It would be cheaper yet, I think, to just have a soldier come up and shoot you.

From Kiev to Washington

As a foreigner looking at what is going on in the world these days, I can not help but think like this: In Kiev right now, the people and the authorities are shooting at each other, killing each other. US politicians are engaged in this situation talking down the Ukraine government and what is happening in this country. But with all that is going on in the US today, the so-called "Land of the Free", and you are yourself talking about living under a tyranny, when will the people of the US go to Washington and really raise up against their government there? The whole thing is big sad TRAGEDY!!

It is laughable that White

It is laughable that White House feels justified to speak out against tyranny in other countries...like who would listen or believe them anyway?

Never

Pacified with dancing with the stars, disney world vacations, beer, and football. Revolution must start with thought, and Americans don't do that anymore, too many channels and too many video games. Did you ever think there would be a time when grown @ss men would play video games all day long while Rome burns around them?

The game has been decided, save what you can from the free fall and hope the crash isn't horrible.

While I can relate

to the notion of entertainment that used as a distraction, I think that to condemn it all is an unbalanced conclusion. Playing games is one of my greatest passions in life, but it doesn't make me less concerned for our rights or the well being of my neighbours.

I do what I can.. which is to help those in my sphere of influence.. ultimately I think the global solution is found at a local level. Love thy neighbour.

Information? From the White House?

LMFAO

Obama has leaked twice now on

Obama has leaked twice now on foreign policy matters. First asking the advice of Congress regarding Syria and second regarding a drone target. These small acts of transparency are good. Still a lot of drones cannot be taken back, and the drone policy is fundamentally unjust.

wow...

Things are getting really bad at this point. Based on that proclamation, we are clearly living under T Y R A N N Y.
