DP'ers who stuck with the GOP to carry on RP's vision of transforming the party from within...

I'm interested to hear what you've been doing! I just attended my local GOP meeting. Our caucus here in CO is next month and there was also talk of candidates for local positions.

I totally respect those who ran away from the party in disgust after 2012. Perhaps I am fortunate to live in a rural county where Republicans are largely farmers & ranchers and the party is a minority. They were happy to have me even after I blew my cover and they knew I was a RP supporter. I come from the kooky side of our vast valley so they appreciate my input since most of the voting base of the county is in my area.

I'm contemplating running as a delegate to State Assembly again. Once I express the interest, I think my chances are solid. It sure won't be as exciting as 2012 but there's a lot more work to be done! CO may be great for the legalization thing but we still face many daunting issues as I'm sure most of, if not all other states do.

Anyone else want to share their experiences? Peace

Update: My County Assembly is this Sat. and my county chair will be pushing for me to be elected as a delegate to State Convention. If elected, I will have the opportunity to support 2 Liberty candidates in CO CD3...David Cox (former RP delegate) & Senator Owen Hill (RP endorsed). Very low turn out at my caucus but we reminded ourselves that this is where it all begins! Again, I respect those who chose to opt out of the Republican BS but it sure can't hurt to have some of us liberty-minded folks in the fold. Hope to see some of you DPers in Boulder at the State Convention!

Now let's see David's speech!

I know it will be available soon! Talked to David afterwards at a GREAT gathering of Liberty people just hours afterwards and had found out that David also got on the Primary ballot with 33.81% of the CD3 delegate votes!

I have another video of David from that event that will get posted somewhere and at some point. I just want to run it by him first, as well as cut the video into several sections, as there were several speeches last night and I want to separate them first.

I appreciate your post and

I appreciate your post and your effort but for Me, screw the GOP! I registered republican to vote for my candidate of choice, who happened to be a republican,,, that's it!

I have no interest in trying to fix, change or transform either little club, and I doubt anyone who isn't a loyal supporter of one would follow the lead of "transforming" either. Therein lies a rub.

It's good they happily accepted you, but does being the minority party and being from the area with the largest voting base play a part? Maybe not, but it's odd that you felt as if your "cover" had been blown because they found out you supported,,, a fellow Republican, of all people :/

Maybe transforming people into being a little less loyal to a party would be better than trying to transform or gain support for a party. After all, one of the arguments used against RP was that he was out of sync with "the party", as if that was a bad thing.

Change starts with us!
More power to you and your efforts though.

I only made that 'blew my cover' comment...

because I know how many others were ousted after their true intentions were discovered. Yes, thankfully I live in a county where the Reps are relatively sane. The Dems here are a whole other story...Thank you for your comments!

Where I've been...

The Ron Paul Revolution taught me the effectiveness of strong fund raising through it's “money bombs”. Ever since then, I became a heavy donor for pro-liberty causes.

I've given strong financial support to Young Americans for Liberty and their political action committee Liberty Action (www.libertyaction.com). I've given strong financial support to the Institute for Justice, Club for Growth, Senate Conservatives Fund, Heritage Action, Heritage Foundation, CATO Institute, Students for Liberty, Drug Policy Alliance, Marijuana Policy Project, Electronic Frontier Foundation, NRA Legal Defense Fund, and the National Right to Work Committee.

I've branched out into left-libertarianism in an effort to embed the pro-liberty message within the Democratic Party and Green Party demographic. Murray Rothbard'a journal "Left & Right" (years 1965-1968) and Noam Chomsky's books inspired me to explore socialism and communism within a small-government and free-market framework. I was working in Germany at the time when the Occupy Movement started and learned a lot from my German friends about credit unions and worker cooperatives at Occupy Berlin back in 2011. Since then, I've pulled my money out of commercial banks and put in in credit unions and cooperative banks. I bank with a local credit union in Northern Virginia and finance workers cooperatives through National Cooperative Bank (www.ncb.coop). NCB shares much of their work on Housing Cooperatives, community-based health care centers, and worker cooperatives on their site Capital Impact Partners: http://www.ncbcapitalimpact.org/

I feel that the direct action philosophy of “just do it” or “just build it” is the best approach to promoting left-libertarian ideas. I believe this work must be built at the ground-level prior to promoting left-libertarian ideas within the Democratic Party or Green Party. Once these systems are built at the grassroots level on a national scale, then the political parties of “the left” will adopt them. I don't believe it will work the other way around; that is, promote left-libertarianism in the political parties and hope their politicians bring the system into existence on the streets.

My county sucks...I

My county sucks...I discovered that last election when I was a delegate. So I am not a delegate...nor do I go to their stupid btch fests aka meetings. My district is much friendlier! I was asked to be a Sgt. in Arms for our district convention and i was asked by none other than our District Chair to run for a board position in 2015 where he will personally endorse me. I do plan on becoming a delegate again in 2016 when Rand runs for POTUS.

I'm not stuck with anything

I don't care about red team or blue team, I only care about what I can do for my neighborhood, politically or otherwise. Beyond that is of little concern to me.

The Republicans here in NH are absolutely disgusting and thoroughly corrupt, the Democrats even more so. I'm not about to catch any fleas by laying down with such dogs.

As far as anyone who, for whatever reason, still supports either party, all I can do is mutter a semi-sincere "good luck with that".

Why stop with

Why stop with Republicans?

Take over both parties.

Undertakover both parties

Undertakover both parties

It would be harder to take

It would be harder to take over the Democratic Party simply because they love big government and they don't hide it.

You're right we shouldn't stop w/ Republican party.... but...

...we are still just getting started really. These things take time and we are having huge influence even now. Once we have comfortably taken back the GOP we can start working on returning the Democratic party to a party resembling that of an American, constitutional political party (again?).

If there are current registered Democrats who are DPers, RP supporters, or even just libertarian-leaning liberals then they can and should begin to plant those seeds now.

This may never happen though. The NWO knows there is a rapidly spreading awakening going on and they cannot allow it to reach a tipping point, which is almost here. They will likely start WW3 or SHTF/economic collapse/false-flag, before Americans can take back America from the globalist puppet-masters.

Are you a POT or a PET - Person Embracing Tyranny?

It must depend on your local party.

MIne is very good and it is worthwhile to keep in touch with them. Learning about local government and candidates is much more positive than despairing over a perfect Presidential candidate.

But I can't bring myself to do any official party business.

City Councils Oversee Police Departments - Grab the Reins!

City Councils can hire and fire police chiefs, change police policies, fire city managers, etc.

City Councils can also over see property taxes, regulations, and zoning.

You want to liberate your city, run for City Council.

In Fact, be wise about running and run as a TEAM. Take 6 of the 9 seats.

Run as a team. Make the voter vote for "team change". Sell yourself as a group package.

What is the worst that could happen? You spread your message, your goals, your vision? Even if you don't win, you spread the message of freedom, put govt on notice.

Think about it.

We will be electing a new sheriff in our county this year...These local elections are very important!

Yes, yes!

Speaking from experience, this is the best way to rein in the cost and size of city government.

GOP is a dirty fight that I cant win.

Stocked with the Rothschild sponsored Bush crime family these despots will lie cheat steal and murder. The GOP is their tool paid for with counterfeit false national debt issued Rothschild debt slave money.

All this hard work "taking

All this hard work "taking over" a party that DOESNT want to be taken over will be futile with rule 16 official now. I wish you people would stop wasting your time. It would be better spent teaching people how there's no difference between the "two" parties.

AS far as I'm concerned "they" "took over"...

...the GOP from the constitutional conservative grass-roots party the GOP has traditionally been.
There has always been infighting and jockeying for power and that will never change.
But, it is up to those individuals who still see clearly through the fog, who can see the globalist infiltration of the parties for what it is; an "alien" takeover, to reverse it.

If they were able to infiltrate the parties, take them over, and brainwash the sheeple followers, then the same thing can be done/undone. And it is being done/undone. Ron and Rand have/are proving that.

We can get a guy like LEE BRIGHT in as U.S. Senator in S. Carolina, and replace Lindsey Graham. That's a huge step in the right direction for liberty and the Constitution. An opportunity that should not be given up on, imho.

Are you a POT or a PET - Person Embracing Tyranny?

Of course they don't want to

Of course they don't want to be taken over. But can they stop us?

they have done a pretty darn good job of it so far.

Numbers my friend. Nobody is

Numbers my friend. Nobody is interested in politics like the Paulistas. Become delegates, chair members, board members, city council. They can't stop us all.

Optimism may bring the up votes on this forum, but 1lIl1 is right.
Im not saying you are wrong.

What exactly is the

What exactly is the alternative to working from within to reform the Republican Party--where at least we have some standing?

You ask: "What is the alternative to working from within the...

...republican party to reform it?"

LOTS OF OPTIONS, but here is one of the most important ones...

We need to fight for OPEN presidential dabates where these 2 corrupt parties conspire to keep ANY OTHER PARTY or INDEPENDENT CANDIDATE OUT.

Check into "Free and Equal" which is working hard to change this.

Believe me - if principled people left the republican party in droves (that is if there ARE droves of principled people in the GOP), and supported the idea of NO PARTY and INDIVIDUAL and INDEPENDENT candidates, then we would make a difference.

Zak Carter (a good Daily Paul member) is busy slaving away to help "Free and Equal" force the rotted Presidential Debates Commission to open up opportunities for candidates who might not be democrat or republican.

By the way, Ron Paul endirses this organization.

More here at their site:

"We have allowed our nation to be over-taxed, over-regulated, and overrun by bureaucrats. The founders would be ashamed of us for what we are putting up with."
-Ron Paul

Ron Paul and I agree with you

Ron Paul knows very well that what you said is the truth.
He took his only option and ran Republican because it was more effective than any other third party. It got him in the debates.

And to those who accuse him of 'duping' us. Fuck that bullshit.

He did what he had to do, hoped for the best and fractured the hell out of this charade in Washington.

America will never be the same. Business as usual is gradually coming to an end.

2008 Was the last straw for me.
I finally realized the GOP is identical to the Democrat party.
Anti-gun, Pro-abortion, Pro-welfare, Anti-individual, Pro-nation building, Pro-gigantic government, Anti-free market and Pro-social engineering Collectivists.
That's when I joined the Libertarian party!

Activism expresses itself in many forms...

And I respect the various paths we all have chosen to embark on as engaged individuals.

I am around 95% Republicans...

...pretty much wherever I go around my area and at work. I have always been outspoken about my support for Ron Paul in the last 2 elections. Most liked him but had some doubts plastered in their minds due to the Rush, Levin, etc. constant little comments planted in their brains. Seems as if many are seeing what Paul was talking about now and because of the debates, he made many think and understand what they now know to be true. All his efforts were not in vain and every dime donated to get him on national debates were well worth it! So many people have knowledge of things happening now because of that.

Right on...

I heard a guy in his 70's at my local meeting say, "We have to stop thinking we can legislate morality!"
