There is a crisis in Venezuela. Already one of the most violent places on Earth — a person is murdered every 21 minutes, and there were roughly 24,700 violent deaths last year — the country is in the throes of a massive shake-up.

For the past few months, Leopold López has led an opposition movement against President Nicolas Maduro's government, which has been running the country into the ground. Since taking over for the deceased Hugo Chávez in April 2013, Maduro has led Venezuela to 56% inflation rate and a 50% increase in the budget deficit, prompting China to cut back on its $20 billion loan, and Moody's and Standard & Poor to downgrade Venezuelan bonds to "junk" status. Additionally, the once-strong dollar has dropped from an 8 to 1 exchange rate relative to the U.S. dollar at Chávez's death, to a disastrous 87 to 1. In response, Maduro has taken to blaming U.S.-backed "fascists" and the "parasitic bourgeoisie." He has also called for more state intervention. This has only made things harder for the private sector, which has since made it nearly impossible for Venezuelans to get food and other basic material necessities.

Don't despair - the government has a brilliant solution

Sean Penn to offer government sponsored acting classes in Venezuela

Perhaps Sean Penn can train the citizens to act as if all is well.

I can't verify this all as 100% fact

Regardless, this was definitely worth sharing on twitter.

The struggle story, with the music, definitely brought tears to my eyes.

Whether it's your ideal "idea of freedom" or not, this is people fighting for it.

I definitely recommend you help support this.

What's going on in Venezuela in a nutshell (English version)

The monster in the room

There's one historic check valve here. The Venezuelan military has a history, when a president gets totally out of hand and tramples their constitution, they will intervene, remove the maledictor from power and instantly return power to the eloctorate.

Things are getting close to that now.

Be brave, be brave, the Myan pilot needs no aeroplane.

Perfect video of Kerry/St. John MCCain/Bush'ites... at work!

Kerry/St.John McCain/Bush'ites and their CFR/CIA enabled interventionism at work... the best Globalist banker funded, Marxist dialectic, at work for interventionist change, that money can buy!

Ditto... Ukraine!

Kind of like Diebold, the best best elections money can buy!

Sad the video author is either one of the bought and paid for stooges, or like most of the population, as naive as the GOP couch potatos who enable the return each 2-4 years of the status quo.

Together the parties fight over the head chair at the table, the plush drivers seat of the big bus, nevertheless still headed for the cliff of historical extinction!

'I never wanted to seize control of government, just shrink it massively.' Ron Paul

And occupy wallstreet was

And occupy wallstreet was also the CIA!

Photos Redux

Apparently, the bad mainstream habit of using pictures over and over, from conflict to conflict around the world is well entrenched when it comes to the images we are getting from "Venezuela."

Make sure you read and view all the way to the bottom of the article.

"Venezuela revokes press credentials for 4 CNN journalists over

coverage of protests"
"The government's near-complete control of domestic broadcasters has made CNN en Espanol a source of information for many Venezuelans trying to follow the unrest."

Undo what Wilson did

This is a color-rev. The USA has been trying to get their man in for years. I could probably get behind it if I didn't know for a fact the US would do the exact same thing if mass protests sponsored by (or not) foreign countries were to take place by bringing in the military and murdering a few dozen people as examples.

So what is their goal? Well, it all makes sense if you realize the cold war never ended and global hegemony is the prerequisite for their long term goals.. namely, a unified global government. This requires the US to undertake weakening Ru/Ch at every turn. Reduce their sphere of influence. Put them in the pincers by incorporating those countries into Nato and putting the oppositions back to the wall where they would be unlikely to win any military victory nor have the will to do so.

Of course, it will never work. But a whole bunch of people will die in the process of opening markets at the expense of autonomy and complete centralization of power. Not to mention the US will prob default again long before it's accomplished.

The video posted was probably paid for with your own tax dollars..

Color Revolution for Venezuela?

Does the USA sponsor revolutions? Watch this doc. It's short and is an excellent primer for how they operate.

wow thanks for posting! I did

wow thanks for posting!

I did not see the massive crowds on CNN or any other news source.

Thanks DailyPaul

The slogan press on has solved and always will solve the problems of the human race. No person was ever honored for what he received. Honor has been the reward for what he gave.

Didn't Alex Jones say on Piers Morgan that "they got the guns" in Venezuela? He said they got the guns pretty much everywhere but here in America. I don't think many of these places have citizens bearing arms. Imagine if they did...

"Consequently, people like López have been leading dissatisfied Venezuelans in protest. But it wasn't until Venezuela's Youth Day last week that things really took a bad turn. Swarms of young people — mostly aged 18 to 25 — took to the streets to peacefully protest Maduro's poor governance, but state police quickly tried to corral them. At least three protesters were shot dead and many more were injured. ...

Maduro and his many arms of government have sworn to put a hard stop to these protests and opposition groups.

US Foreign Aid Funds And Foments Unrest

These programs funneling financial support to opposition through US backed NGOs and USAID has been part of US foreign policy strategy for a long time.

As emotional and moving as the OP video is.. it doesn't embrace the geo-political, social and economic truths of Venezuela.
Venezuela is complicated and tragic..
and just like the Ukraine..
you can ABSOLUTELY bet on the US State dept being deeply embedded in it's destabilization.
They've never let up.

"People are fighting for their right to have a decent, normal life. Food, security, etc". . TRUE

"This old video is nothing but communist lies".. FALSE

Our CIA and IMF/Corporatacracy has been 'playing' the southern hemisphere hegemony game for DECADES. If you think this is simply a 'populist' uprising against 'Socialism'... think again.

I have family members that live in Venezuela

I didn't realize how bad it was.

Do you have a way to contact

Do you have a way to contact them?

Been going on for a while.

Riots have been going on in neighboring Colombia for the past few months as well. Just google "Colombian riots" for more info. I think Argentina has been mentioned here before.
