looking forward to it...

a pilot program to 'pioneer' a new tactic.
keep us posted on the click thrus.. cool idea!

Sounds like a great idea.

Sounds like a great idea. Perhaps set up a thread for donations if someone wants to contribute to your adwords campaign? Maybe even give donors the option to pick the keyword they want. Just throwing ideas out there.

Here's a deal for you...

I like the ideas and will contemplate how to do this. Thanks very much for the feedback.

Update:

Ok I thought about this and want to make you an offer. This goes for anyone else who would want to make suggestions for TMOT's online Adwords campaign.

You give me suggestions, and I'll add them as best I can, as fast as I can, and we'll track the results together every week or two via this presentation. Sometimes suggestions could be adding new keywords in existing ad groups. Other times it could mean adding new ad groups and indeed new ads (which you can also supply). We can do this through the end of the primary, May 20, 2014.

At the end, we will have a Daily Paul crowdsourced online advertising campaign. Perhaps, the first in history :)

In return, you make a commitment to use this opportunity to learn how to use Adwords on your own. The principle idea being that it is a skill we can learn about, develop, and collectively exercise as Liberty Movement enthusiasts.

Deal? If so, I'm ready to start adding to the online campaign straight away!

Have you talked to TMOT about this?

Pooling our money is what I suggested before and I still like the idea as it could be done for various liberty candidates.

C_T_CZ's picture

Donating and pooling money...

I contributed $50 to TMOT via a donation, and strongly suggest everyone does the same. TMOT is one of us and we all need to donate to Liberty candidates.

Regarding pooling our money, I have a few thoughts. First, these Adwords campaigns are not expensive to run (by design). It's not like a multi thousand dollar ad buy that campaigns and PACs do. It's more like buying $20 in materials and making signs to hang by the highway. I don't expect the total amount for this campaign to be very much - perhaps $20 or $30 in total by the end. I am happy to cover the funds for this.

Importantly, I don't necessarily want to collect money and run a dozen ad campaigns for many Liberty candidates. Instead I'd like to show everyone how it is done and then we will have a dozen people each running their own ads for their own favorite Liberty candidates. In the long run and into 2015/2016, the Liberty movement is much better served by many activists developing their own skills at this.

For any Liberty candidate, they will get more ad impressions and clicks with two or three people running inexpensive campaigns than a single higher cost campaign, because of the diminishing returns on increasing the max cost per click price. 5 people running ads at $.20 CPC is much better than 1 person running $1.00 CPC ads, for example.

But if you really want to just donate and not start a campaign on your own, that's cool too. I'll think about it some more. Maybe you can just send me a bottle of that outstanding port from Longshadow Ranch in Temecula and I'll make whatever ads you want :)

Lemme know what you think.

Lemme know what you think. Constructive criticism is always welcome. :)

My thoughts...

1) Outstanding suggestions. You are definitely thinking like an "advertiser". I added in all the keywords you suggested with a minor change, explained below.

2) Yes, the goal is to target people, prospective voters, who have not heard of him yet. Your keyword suggestions are spot on.

3) No need to include "Georgia" for each keyword string. The ad campaign is already limited to Georgia, so these ads will never show up for someone in Michigan or Florida. However just as an example, I do have a Justin Amash campaign running nationally, pointing to Amash's donation page.

4) I added your keywords to the "US Senate Debate in Georgia" ad group. These ads point to a great youtube video of TMOT's answers in the 2nd debate. An example ad that could now be triggered from your keyword suggestions would be:
Grayson for US Senate
Video of Georgia Senate debate
shows Derrick Grayson clear winner
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9YyPzU8Uf30

Again thanks very much for the input. I'm happy to add new keywords, or even new adgroups and new ads, if additional suggestions come to mind.

Destination Restoration

Just saw a youtube clip of one of Mr. Grayson's speeches. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QtJ8Ul7KP90 It's at around 10:20

He made a very good catch phrase regarding the Constitution: "Destination Restoration"

Don't know how good that would make for a keyword, but I think it's a great slogan for a bumper sticker. Just wanted to share.

C_T_CZ's picture

Destination restoration...

I like it too.

Maybe it can be worked into an ad's text. If you think of any ideas, let me know!

lol, I see your point. Adding

lol, I see your point. Adding "Georgia" would be superfluous. I picked up a thing or two about advertising from my son. I'll ask him for more idea and pass them on to you. :)

Keywords

sorry for the delay. Was busier than I anticipated.

I'm thinking that while obvious keywords like "tmot" or "derrick grayson" are good, they're really only going to snag people that are, for the most part, already familiar with Mr. Grayson. Preaching to the choir so-to-speak. Of course that's all well and good, but in my opinion, I would think that there's a bigger need to rope in people who are less familiar or have never heard of him.

At the same time there's even more value in grabbing the attention of a potential VOTER who has never heard of Derrick Grayson as opposed to someone who has no interest in voting and has never heard of him. Therefore, I'm of the opinion that it is worthwhile to experiment on keywords that a prospective voter might use, but not necessarily has any previous knowledge of our beloved TMOT. Here are the first choices that came to mind:

1. Georgia election
2. Georgia election 2014
3. Georgia republican elections
4. Georgia senate elections
5. Georgia republican candidates
6. Georgia primary
7. Georgia primary 2014

I think including "Georgia" is key because although we want voters, it's best to narrow the search to voters that can actually vote for Mr. Grayson. No need to spend money on a click from a person who can't cast his or her ballot for TMOT even if they like him. People who are interested in voting will most likely use search terms like "election" and "primary". "2014", well... that's obvious. "Senate" for people who already have interest in the senate race, and "Republican" for people who (you guessed it) already have interest in Republicans.

Well those are my thoughts. Please critique to your heart's desire.

That's awesome!

I do something similar on Facebook for liberty candidates. Hope this is successful!

2014 Liberty Candidate Thread:

the problem with facebook ads is they have a negative effect

You should look at this:
http://www.dailypaul.com/312141/video-the-fraud-of-facebook-...

what you are doing could actually be hurting more than helping.

That has nothing to do with hurting or helping

it has to do with fake users.

2014 Liberty Candidate Thread:
http://www.dailypaul.com/287246/2014-liberty-candidate-thread

yes it does hurt

because when they feed you fake users then your real users will see your stuff less. It won't show up on theirs feeds as much because they get diluted out by fake users. Facebook doesn't show everyone everything.....they show it to a sample and then if it gains traction they show it to others. The problem is with so many fake users your stuff doesn't ever gain traction and then it is seen less by the people you actually want to reach.

That's different than Facebook targeting

I can target my post to people who like Ron Paul and live in podunk, Alabama (within 25 miles). At the end of the post, I see how many people engaged (clicked on the links, liked the posts, liked the page, etc.).

If people like the post, you can click on their public profile to see who they are (if they allow with their privacy setting). These are real people with profiles (especially those engaging).

Facebook is not all a scam if you know how to use it. As long as you know how the scams work in a system, you can navigate around them.

As a side note, you are correct, Facebook should crack down on fake users and click farms to increase the effectiveness of their business model.

2014 Liberty Candidate Thread:
http://www.dailypaul.com/287246/2014-liberty-candidate-thread

they have cracked down

but it is difficult because those "fake" people are real people too. Everyone is out to make a buck. So they click to like whatever so they don't look like a click farm and then get paid to click on other things.

Thanks for doing this!

I'm excited to see the results!
