Guys any chickflick love stories you actually like?

Most chick flicks are awful cause they tend to be the same movie with different people and different set with the same script. For some reason women can watch them over and over again.

Just wondering are there any tolerable ones out there? The only Chick flick I can think of thats tolerable is anne of green gables, and the only really good love story that I know about is http://www.mangahere.com/manga/bakuman/ Currently I dont have a girl friend but I suspect that this is good information to prepare for the future.

Not a fan of the chick flick as it gives an

unrealistic view of reality and love. However, a film that I enjoy and feel transcends the average stereotypes is When Harry Met Sally.

The interviews are great.

I agree

I just posted one about When Harry Met Sally myself. Probably the most memorable part of the movie was when they were in the diner and she proved that women could fake orgasm. Many people use that as a start-up sound for their computers.

Looking for Englishness, Shakespeare in Love or Truly, Madly, Deeply.
Erotic art film with decent story, Sirens.
Sports theme, Jerry McGuire, though I didn't love it.
Business theme, Working Girl.
Standard chick-flick, but good, Sleepless in Seattle.

Surefire, good luck.

Once dated a chick flick chick, it was horrible. Chick was ok.

Really neat gal, still friends and all but she would toruture me with the most horrible chick flicks of all time: FRENCH FILM. Most of them by some sociopath called Truffoult or some demonic input and her total thing was to sit on the couch and act tragically depressed. And natch, I DON'T SPEAK FRENCH. I HAD NO IDEA WHAT THESE INSUFFERABLY BORING FILMS WERE EVEN ABOUT. All I could divine is they were tragically unhappy stories about tragically uphappy people in tragically unhappy circumstances and they are made for people who want to be tragically unhappy looking at them.

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand at that time in my life I was like screw this, hop on my bike, hit the bar, life is grand. Being a young man on a Suzuki was grand. Becoming an old tired smudge pot is the real tragedy of this story. But no,

no making any chick flicks out of me.

Most of those who think so actually don't and most of those who think sew actually rip.

Maybe Amelie would be a French film exception.

Um guys, female coming through...

I happen to love the kinds of films you're describing. (Even slower than any French film I've ever seen are Swedish films.) Well, I used to love them. But Smudge Pot, it's not about watching them while acting "tragically depressed," but rather appearing to be "exceptionally deep." :)

Anyway, no tragedy here. If ever there was a soul-lifter, this film's it. A motorcycle even plays a part, just for you. Well, okay, maybe it's just a motor scooter, but still.

ok that one was bearable

but she was adorable. That's totally out of the genre is the subject is a cutie pie.

Most of those who think so actually don't and most of those who think sew actually rip.

I saw her on the Craig Ferguson show

a few years ago. The poor guy was so totally smitten you could practically see his heart thumping right through his jacket. Okay, if you already saw that one and are making exceptions for extraordinary heroines... this one [a love story of sorts] is also really exciting!!! My wife and I enjoy watching Amelie from time to time

It is quite funny. However I think ultimately it suffers from the major pitfall of all stories of this type though cleverly done. It paints an unrealistic view of love and romance.

But while we are on the foreign kick I'll add Cinema Paradiso. I thought the extended directors cut was far superior than the original in the way it fleshed out the love story.

Unrealistic view of love and romance?

You mean the two of you don't plot how to make each other happy? You don't hide romantic surprises for each other to find? :)

Okay, we're going foreign. If you like Cinema Paradiso,

which is a great film, you will also love Malena, done in very similar fashion; an exquisite Italian film.
Here's an American film that almost got away; and don't be fooled by the corny title, this is a quality film: Girl Most Likely.

True Romance

If that even qualifies as a chick flick. At least it sounds like it is, but that movie is great! My wife thought it was great too. Written by Quentin Tarantino

Brad Pitt was the shit in that one!

Loved him giving directions!! LOL.

The Mexican Stand-off was cool too.

Wha? .....hey....who stole my country?

Bandits

Cate Blanchett, Bruce Willis, & BillyBob Thornton.
Action flick AND chick flick. Plenty of gunplay, AND discussion of fuh-fuh-fuh-feelings.
Between the two protagonists, Cate's character found the perfect man.
A polyamorist screed as well. All thumbs up!

I think that's the name. Brad Pitt-Anthony Hopkins--???(really sexy girl)

Claire Forlani

And yep she's ridiculously gorgeous. I also like most movies with Natalie Portman in them for the same reason (though I think she's actually a really good actress too).

They run like guy flicks, so you will enjoy watching. But they END as chick flicks.

What better than to have the warm and fuzzies at the end of really good movies. Because, you know, what happens after the movie is over.

Sometimes I wonder if that was Adam Sandler's intention, to make really good movies that end as chick flicks.

Maybe I'm wrong, but anyhow, they are the ones I think of in response to your question.
