I really didn't want to post this, its so sad, but the information has to be spread, in an effort to help curb this kind of deplorable behavior.

This is a continuation of the story posted here:

After weeks of accusations, the public is now getting the chance to see a video that was taken the night a local man died in police custody.

Nair Rodriguez, Luis Rodriguez’s wife, said from the beginning her husband was beaten by police.

On Tuesday, her attorney’s office released the video, allowing everyone to decide for themselves what happened to him.

In the video, Nair Rodriguez is heard calling for her husband to tell her if he’s okay.

However, he did not answer.

Hey! Calm down.

Let's pretend:
You're a cop.
You respond to a call of domestic violence.
You see a very big guy going after a very small woman.
You tell him to stop.
He ignores you.
You try to physically (no gun) stop him.
He brushes you off. And keeps going.
You were fed false information.
You still think he's going to harm the woman.
Now it gets sick and the rest is history.

You need to be careful.
You're starting to hate people.

Cuda - I did not read the part about them trying to stop him

from going after the wife or daughter - did I miss that - because it really does change things. I did not see that part. Was he going after the wife/daughter and then got into it with the cops and fought with them?

It's going to be withheld now

It's going to be withheld now until the case goes to court.
But the early reports that I saw when it first made the news said he was chasing the mother who was going to drive away and leave the girl.

When the cops told him to stop chasing the wife he ignored them.
Then a cop tried to grab him and stop him. The cop says he brushed the cops hand off and kept going. So the cop claimed that he then had to get more aggressive to stop the guy.

It's hard not to be a menace to society when half the population is happy on their knees. - unknown

They got a call for domestic violence

and automatically assumed it was the man hitting the woman.

Good question...why were they all out of breath? Wow..killing someone gets the adrenaline flowing I guess.

"proper procedure" was followed.

we just did not know what that meant.

now we do.

this man died defending his wife. he did not "die in custody"
he is dead in the video.
they hold him down until he quits moving. this is a snuff video.
that is what it looks like to me anyhow.

Actually

he was trying to calm down his wife when the police decided to confront and beat him. I guess the daughter decided to get out her phone and record after they realized what was happening, and the cops weren't stopping.

Agreed.

curios. what is the difference between the "police" and a "sheriff"?

and, how many know that distinction?

DJP333's picture

I think

The police have only city jurisdiction and the sheriffs has Country jurisdiction.

from what I have learned, the "police" work for a corporation.

the Sheriff works for the people.
one is an appointed position, the other is elected.
please correct me if that is wrong.

Yup, Sheriffs are elected

Here's something I didn't know, and I just found - historically, the sheriff was also commander of the militia in that county. Interesting!

And the police, yes they work for the local government corporation to ensure that the Fines and forfeits line item on the City's statement of revenue is within budget each year. For a large city (i.e. 1M population) that is usually around $30-40 million a year. Quite a chunk of change huh?

I like that idea! no standing army.

and a sheriff in charge of the national guard!

I am willing to fight for that....

Sheriffs do work for the people

But are paid out of corp funds, they answer to the city councils, just as the city police do.
The sheriff is voted into office by the people in their counties
They follow all manner of codes, statutes, and ordinances
If the city council votes on something that contradicts the const, the sheriffs abide by them
Ours here have become just another extension of the long arm of the law,and they have no problem breaking their own laws
