Texas ~ Tea-party beauty surprises governor race

WASHINGTON – Lisa Fritsch became a conservative in the second grade and a Republican in college.

The tea-party mother of two and GOP gubernatorial candidate in Texas vividly remembers the day she asked her divorced mother to stop working a third job. Her mother had taken that job so her daughter could have tap shoes and piano lessons.

But the girl was embarrassed by her mother working at the Piggly Wiggly, and a friend told her they qualified for public assistance, which, she learned, would also mean better snacks and more toys.

When she asked her mother to quit and go on the dole, her mother abruptly stopped the car and defiantly declared,”I’d rather starve than go down the path of victimization where you might never have dignity in your life again.”

Though not libertarian, she's impressive (and right on the issue) in this speech: http://www.lisa4texas.com/states-rights/

My political spidey sense tells me we haven't heard the last from this lady.

What's wrong with Abbott?

I've only heard that he's "establishment."

He is.

According to Open Carry Texas, he is not a friend of the Open Carry movement. He had the chance to help with Gun Rights, but chose not to. Sorry I don't have details. I am voting for SECEDE Kilgore, but Abbott will win. Then we will find out who he really is.

Do you have a link?

My google only brought up articles of Abbott in favor of open carry.

Does this help?

Okay, I do not have a link. It appears that Open Carry Texas took down a post they made on the subject. It could be here, but I did not see it today: https://www.facebook.com/OpenCarryTexas

The post had said that Abbott is no friend of open carry, and we should support Kathy Glass.

But, I was at an event with C.J Grisham the founder of Open Carry Texas, and he said he is quote "pissed" at Abbott, over the issue of open carry. C.J has visited his Austin office.

IF Abbott supports open carry now, it is only because Wendy Davis claims to. Abbott does not want to seem more liberal than Wendy.

Greg Abbott is THE establishment candidate, that is clear if you look at the fund raising info. Rick Perry has also claimed to support open carry in the past, all hat + no cattle.

I am personally depressed as heck that there was no serious race for Governor in the primary. I thought we Texans were better than this.
If things improve under an Abbott administration, it will be thanks to legislators like David Simpson. I think Abbott will go with the flow, I don't know if he would actually veto good bills like open carry should they be passed.

I would be thrilled if Kilgore or Fritsch won, that would make my year.

Yes, Abbott has the party behind him.

But I need something more specific than word of mouth that someone dislikes him. Open carry is not a main issue to me.

And I am not in favor of secession at this point. There needs to be a clear detailed plan of what will happen after secession. Don't want any rogue shadow group taking over.

Do you believe Abbott is the

Do you believe Abbott is the best candidate in the race? if so, by all means vote for him. I have been wrong on candidates before. If you can't decide, not voting in that race is an option. But please consider all candidates on the ballot first.

Here are the other 3:

Greg Abbott will be about the same as Rick Perry. In my opinion Greg will not stand up to the establishment because he is part of it. I do not plan on casting any votes that I will regret. I think Abbott will win the primary with about 80% of the vote.I bet a bunch of those voters will regret it later on.

In the future he will likely run for President just like Bush and Perry.

He isn't. It is show.

I voted Secede dude as well.

Documentation?

I'm honestly coming up with all positives about Abbott- even from Open Carry Texas.

Would you really be happy if Kilgore won?

Most Texans don't want real change anymore than most Americans.

People like to pat themselves on the back that they are doing something new and different while doing the same old thing over and over. Abbott will most likely win because that is what the news states will happen.

However, thanks for the article. I am glad to know that there is another choice. I live in Texas and had never heard of this person until now.

Another bright spot is that Debra Medina is doing very well in early voting for the position of State Comptroller ( tax collector ).

Seems contrived, but OK

First of all, while beauty is in the eye of the beholder, I don't think I am alone in thinking she is not necessarily more attractive than many other women. I definitely wouldn't call her "a beauty". She seems like a wonderful person and if I talked to her I might get a different perspective as the author seems to have done. Intelligence is sexually attractive.

But, it seems like the author is also creating an 'image', not talking about substance. And, she uses the same BS language all the other Teocons use, "Constitution" when they have no clue or have even read it and "freedom" while supporting the killing of brown people for Jesus. She reads Neocon/Fascist authors instead of Hayek or Rand or our man Ron Paul. And, she uses that gem of Neoconservative propaganda, "a spiritual battle", as if Democrat voters are not equally as religious or superstitious.

I hope she is the real deal, but I'm afraid she is as "real" as Ted Cruz. She seems like the "anti-Obama" creation of the Texas GOP Machine and pure media sensationalism. I could be wrong, and I hope I am. If the story about her mother and family is true, then they are truly great people. But, my skepticism has only grown over the years.

I wish I had heard of her a little earlier in the game and I would have campaigned for her. I voted for Larry Secede Kilgore as a protest vote. Either way though, black conservative women, secessionists, make establishment GOPer's clinch their anus.
