Is anyone else here watching House of Cards or just me?

I ended up finishing the entire second season last week, and now I'm going back to fill in a few holes with Season 1. It is positively great entertainment. Not to mention that there is an upside down flag in the logo.

Found this video on Trevor's site. It is a nice little intro / explanation. The video is also an ad for a class, but I think I'm a little classed out at the moment.

The class looks interesting, in theory, but you'll learn enough by just watching the show, lol.

Fantastic show

watched each season pretty much in just a couple of sittings.

Fun fact! :)

A lot don't know this, but the giant peachoid from the first season, is a real thing. I drive past it every once in a while in Gaffney, SC along I-85.

My guilty pleasures..

Is this show good?

I never even gave it a shot.

I literally pulled three all niters just to watch the 2 seasons. I couldn't stop. Now I am in withdrawal...lol

If you walk blindly through life, you will run into a lot of walls.

Me too!

I watched the entire second season over the weekend, and I've got withdrawal symptoms also. Going to look into "Boss" as recommended below.

p.s. I highly recommend the HBO series "Rome" if you haven't seen it. It's another series of power and intrigue which is wonderfully filmed and very addictive.

Okay! That's next on the watch list...too much sitting is making my butt big! I need a shelf on the treadmill.

This teevee thing you all talk about

is this something you were taught or is it something you discovered on your own? I'm totally curious about this show as it bypasses all gubermint filters, but how do I avoid the addiction? Time is scarce now as it is!

Great series and I understand

Great series and I understand the original British series it's based on is even better. Also available on Netflix.

Here's the Intro to it.

Don't know if it's better though.

Two shorten the road.

a dark version

of WEST WING which i got hooked on against my better judgement, but i was laid up and it was a long series so i didn't have to keep getting up. HOC is far better and spacey proves his talents once again. another political series if you can find it: BOSS only ran one season and stars kelsy grammer is probably even darker. grammer is amazing in it. he feels it was cancelled because of his conservative stance in real life, heck he should've just called himself a libertarian which is considered cool in hollywood in comparison, however there seems to be a concerted effort of late for the MSM to bash, and pervert the term.

just got my free month at netflix

so now I have a month to watch them all. watched the first 2 episodes so far. I always like these kinds of shows....but they never seem to last. Maybe they are too real?

Watching? WATCHED!!!!!

I watched Season 1 in a single sitting.
Wife and I watched season 2 in a 30 hour period.

I won't give it away but there are two items that you won't see coming.

Season two is better than season one by a factor of 2

The video that advertises an online House of Cards class next month, is from Learn Liberty Academy. I recommend everybody here checking them out.

Learn Liberty Academy is funded by the Institute for Humane Studies (a libertarian organization). I stumbled across LL last summer and signed up for their Principles of Microeconomics class. It was outstanding. A free 13 week course which free market economist and Professor Antony Davies from Duqeusne University gave weekly lectures, live video chats, and online discussions. I was so impressed that I'm now taking their NSA courses which is completely breaking down the entire system led by a Constitutional Law professor. It's all free.

I realize this was a pretty glowing review, but it's only because of how impressed I was from what the people at LL are doing. Due to my participation and level of interest that I showed in the classes, IHS is sending me to Philly in the summer for a Rule of Law seminar, all expenses paid besides travel. Check LL out!

An interesting array of courses.

Thanks for the tip.

Are you taking this course?

I might check it out.

I'm signed up for every future course they have planned. :)

You can also collect points on the site and buy stuff from their store and it's legit. I've already won amazon gift cards in the past.

I started watching it but got

I started watching it but got involved with Breaking Bad in between new episodes of Walking Dead. I decided I didn't want to get into 3 shows. Almost done with BB so then I will pick up on HOC. Love Kevin Spacey.

Almost finished with season 2

I actually had a little trouble getting into HoC at first, but I kept clicking "watch next episode" and now I'm totally hooked.

I still have Breaking Bad above House of Cards, but both of those fall behind Sons of Anarchy. If you haven't watched it and you're a Breaking Bad fan, I highly recommend it. It makes you laugh, cry, wince, drop your jaw, etc...

Quotes from the show:

"Anarchism... stands for liberation of the human mind from the dominion of religion; the liberation of the human body from the dominion of property; liberation from shackles and restraint of government. It stands for social order based on the free grouping of individuals. The concept was pure, simple, true, it inspired me, led a rebellious fire, but ultimately I learned the lesson that Goldman, Prudot and the others learned. That true freedom requires sacrifice and pain. Most human beings only think they want freedom. In truth they yearn for the bondage of social order, rigid laws, materialism, the only freedom man really wants, is the freedom to become comfortable."

"A true outlaw finds the balance between the passion in his heart and the reason in his mind. The outcome is the balance of might and right."

"Most of us were not violent by nature. We all had our problems with authority, but none of us were sociopaths. We came to realize that when you move your life off the social grid you give up the safety that society provides. On the fringe, blood and bullets are the rule of law and if you're a man with convictions violence is inevitable."

Educate and inform the whole mass of the people... They are the only sure reliance for the preservation of our liberty. -Thomas Jefferson

Very Entertaining

I was also tickled that they are Democrats.

an incredible series

Love how complex the characters can be in this. Anyone watching this who does not understand the drive of those in government have a much clearer picture afterwards. I am blown away by how good of a series this is turning out to be. Definitely my favorite behind breaking bad.

Peace, Freedom and Prosperity. Not War, Welfare and Bankruptcy.

I dunno...

I had issues with a few things: MSM was portrayed as holding the politicians' feet to the fire; anyone paying attention knows this to be pure fiction. Repeated swipes at the tea party and conservative congressmen. Reenforcement of the incorrect notion that the civil war was only about slavery.,,

But the thing that bothered me the most is difficult to describe. Kinda like the cop movies and television that we have been fed all our lives where the hero--supposedly a good cop or federal agent--violates the villain's rights at every turn in order to bring them to justice. It conditions the viewer to accept this behavior as normal or even necessary. The more I pondered this aspect of HoC, the more it bothered me.

Now, I admit I found the series quite entertaining, but still ranked it a 1 because of the above.

Still haven't decided whether to cancel Netflix or not...

Started watching

it when it first came out but quickly realized I just couldn't stomach it.
