Russian 'Deadline' Called OFF

this is via interfax... I was looking for more confirmation, but
Business Insider decided to publish it.
now, Reuters

Russia's Black Sea Fleet has told Ukrainian forces in Crimea to surrender by 5 a.m. [12:00 a.m. EST] on Tuesday or face a military assault, Interfax news agency quoted a source in the Ukrainian Defence Ministry as saying.

The ultimatum, Interfax said, was issued by Alexander Vitko, the fleet's commander.

The ministry did not immediately confirm the report and there was no immediate comment by the Black Sea Fleet, which has a base in Crimea, where Russian forces are in control.

"If they do not surrender before 5 a.m. tomorrow, a real assault will be started against units and divisions of the armed forces across Crimea," the agency quoted the ministry source as saying.

"One can hardly blame

"One can hardly blame Russians for feeling betrayed by the United States and NATO for breaking their word. More importantly, they see neocon Eurasionists in the State Department wanting even more. For neo-Cold Warriors the goal is the further breakup of Russia and its Near Abroad to create a neo-liberalized periphery, Baltic-style. Breaking up countries into small units controlled by kleptocrats who see their path to wealth being to privatize public assets and sell ownership shares to the West is the most effective way of preventing government subsidy of industry – and without industry there can be little military threat."

the way I heard it was Moscow contacted Black Sea Command and told them to stand down. Either way a relief...
I'm going to edit the thread now...

now Reuters picking up the story/quote...

We are (now) were only hours away from this going military vs. military.

Ukrainian 1st Marine battalion base in Feodosiya (Crimean port) again refuses to take orders from Crimean PM nor surrender to Russian military overtures.

Whether or not these Ukrainian marines are actually deciding to 'obey' the new Kiev regime
or just digging in their patriotic 'heels' and not surrendering to a 'foreign power' becomes moot.

It will cost them their lives.

I would rather see the Crimean civilians intercede and 'collect' their Ukrainian brothers... then simply 'march out' and leave.
Let the 'battle' be fought elsewhere... the Crimea is 'already' gone.
'Control' could even be ceded BACK to the Ukraine once the situation stabilizes. The Russians are there to protect and secure their BASE and have tactically decided to use the entire Crimea peninsula as a buffer.

Stand down and live to fight a BETTER battle if you must.
The Oligarchs AREN'T worth it.
