Wash Times: Rand Paul seeks Kentucky law to run for president, Senate

By Ralph Z. Hallow - The Washington Times Monday, March 3, 2014

Opening a door to hedge his political bets, Sen. Rand Paul has asked the leader of the Kentucky Senate for legislation to ensure that Mr. Paul can run both for the White House and for re-election to the U.S. Senate in 2016, The Washington Times has learned.

“Yes, I am working on clarifying an ambiguous state law that Rand Paul believes is unconstitutional if it is interpreted to bar running for re-election to the Senate and for president at the same time,” Kentucky Senate Majority Leader Damon Thayer told The Times on Monday.

“The purpose of the bill will be to make clear that Rand Paul or anyone in a similar situation in Kentucky can run for both offices in the same year,” Mr. Thayer explained.

Carol Paul shared this

I posted about this last night and within 5 minutes it was shared by Mrs. Carol Paul. How cool is that!

I'm all for Rand

but what man needs to run for two offices at the same time? Pick an office.

So if he doesn't make it

So if he doesn't make it through primary's he can still run for Senate.

Rand said he would only serve two terms as Senator

So let him take a break and run for POTUS. If he don't make it, let him run for senate in the next election for 2nd and last time.

Is it fair to KY for Rand to concentrate on two elections and being focused on that instead of upholding his oath of office to serve the people of KY?

Is it even more fair...

to allow KY to decide that for themselves? It is a state law after all... Rand is not asking to execute Blue Whales or not allow rusty cars on the road.

KY is lucky to have Rand. Ill support just about any of his tactics as long as my Lee Atwater ass understands his motives. Love him or hate him...

Rand Paul is a million times the political operative his father ever dreamed of being. Leave it to a son to figure it out...

jussayin..

He did not say he would only

He did not say he would only serve for two terms. Kindly link the quote as I have only read/heard him say that he would not limit his stay since no one else does, a similar position to his dad. However he has said he will vote for term limits.

Maybe the only way to win, and not necessarily the Paul way...

... is to run in support of the Fed! ;)

Then destroy the FED, after taking the oath for POTUS!

Get used to it because it is real! The only baby buggy around which both parties circle their wagon together, around which both parties live, breath and retire in DC, is the existence of the FED!

Nothing else!

The FED makes all else possible, from war money, to big government, to graduating from the lobbyist's apprentice class in congress, to retiring as a big bank consultant... with more and more power and wealth spread throughout the globe!

It is for this reason that the last two election battles for POTUS were between two candidates...

Ron Paul, and...

Un-Ron Paul!

The McConnell endorsement

The McConnell endorsement should seal the deal for this. It's on.

:)!

lol

I bet he gets it. If NOT

I bet he gets it. If NOT things will get interesting, of course he could decide to not file for Prez I KY. But that would be weird and demoralizing.

He's running for president!

He's running for president!

I think it is all but official now, and that is all that really matters.

2014 is flying by so fast, almost a quarter of the year will be gone in a little more than a few weeks.

Doesn't look like any of us here in the States are going to get much of a summer.

Summer will finally come in mid August, and before you know it the football season will soon be here, and the 2014 midterm elections will deal a stunning blow to the Obama administration.

In the blink of an eye it will be 2015, and the race for president will begin once again.

Rand Paul has been doing an excellent job of walking a fine conservative line while at the same time appealing to those who don't normally vote for republicans.

Rand Paul has the balance and political skill to win, and please both sides of the isle.

Pragmatic Paul

On social issues, Rand takes a liberal approach.

On foreign affairs, he takes a more conservative path.

I think that is the way most Americans take. Most are socially liberal, and economically and militarily conservative.

Never be afraid to ask simple questions.

its been official since 2011

its been official since 2011 when he said he would run in 2012 if his father decided not to.

Don't get too excited. Being

Don't get too excited. Being President would completely change the lives of his wife and kids, and it isn't a matter to take lightly. I suspect he's unlike other politicians in that his wife is not hungry for that kind of power and prestige, for herself or her husband, and it may mean the end of their marriage. They would be sudden celebrities that are ruthlessly picked apart by every tabloid and "liberal" media outlet. People kill themselves over less stress than that.

I've given up

thinking that anybody of any value can win the Republican nomination in this country after watching that debacle in the primaries last time. If he should win the nomination, I'll be happy, but I'm not holding my breath, that's for sure. Not with well established neocons waiting in the wings. It's obvious to me that the Republican party could care less about winning the Presidency. They're both just the same nowadays, a bunch of noisemaking and hand waving notwithstanding.

I haven't..

and I wont.

None of us know how the future is going to change. What I do know.. is that Ron Paul went against the system for 30 years and finally got his due.

We have the power to change the world. Im not giving up on that.
