In case. there was any doubt about Western media distortions...

Here is a report about this interview from the Associated Press reporter Vladimir Isachenov on the UK Yahoo website:

http://uk.news.yahoo.com/defiant-putin-drops-cool-demeanor-u...

This article has been edited before publication. The first two paragraphs were written by someone other than the reporter who wrote the body of the article.

The information summary in the first two paragraphs does not match the information given in the rest of the article. This suggests that an editor with a specific agenda has provided an invidious précis that fits that agenda. In other words it has been written for propaganda purposes. The change in tone begins at the heading "PUTIN'S RATIONALE".

The rest of the article is reasonably accurate based upon my own viewing of the interview in question. President Putin was not overly emotional at all during the interview and while naturally expressing his feelings he did so in an appropriate manner.

"Jesus answered them: 'Truly, truly, I say to you, everyone who commits sin is a slave to sin. The slave does not remain in the house forever; the son remains forever. So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.'" (John 8:34-36)

Bump.

I am surprised there are not more up votes and comments. This is an important interview.

He was not particularly aggressive in his comments about Western interference although he did not avoid mentioning it. He did point to the root cause of the problems which is poor governance since the fall of the USSR. Russia is experiencing the same problems but has been more successful in dealing with them. This, in my opinion, was a very astute commentary on what is happening there.

He is absolutely correct in saying that Ukraine cannot continue to lurch from crisis to crisis. They must determine to maintain adherence to the laws they have agreed to and work out their own destiny in a lawful way. His observation that there is a danger of extreme nationalist elements now gaining power is also important since if this happens they will probably take action against the Russian speaking population and reduce their language rights, in much the same way that the USSR compelled only Russian education and the primacy of the Russian language to the detriment of Ukrainian speakers.

He is not stoking the flames of controversy as is happening in the corporate media in the West. He is making an effort to work with Russia's "Western partners" as he calls them and he has agreed in the future to finance Ukraine through the IMF in accordance with the wishes of the Western governments. This is quite a concession and not one I am personally comfortable with given the reputation of the IMF in the countries it is involved with. Nevertheless it demonstrates a willingness on his part to work through the crisis in a mature non-confronational manner without closing his eyes to the egregious behaviour of the opposition.

"Jesus answered them: 'Truly, truly, I say to you, everyone who commits sin is a slave to sin. The slave does not remain in the house forever; the son remains forever. So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.'" (John 8:34-36)

Needless to say...

this interview will not be televised in the Western world..
refreshing to even see the 'format' much less the dialog.
no podium, no stage... just a chair and a world leader...
with direct answers and no apologies.
He seems like an adult.

Wow I will say Putin

Wow I will say Putin definitely knows how to play the geopolitical game. I cant imagine for a second Obama sitting down for a candid hour long interview. Things like this really make the US look like a joke on the world state. Only someone like Ron Paul could have given an interview like this.

We all share this eternally evolving present moment- The past and future only exist as inconsequential mental fabrications.

WOW! that last video......

total smackdown?

Total smackdown!

Total smackdown!

BOOM!

those are some pretty serious accusations for a world leader to make.
while I am sure that our press will ignore it...others won't
I would think this is going to turn into big news..
and I hope it does.

BOOM!
