Ron Paul: US shouldn’t meddle in Ukraine

Former presidential hopeful and long-time lawmaker Ron Paul told RT that he doesn’t think the United States should get involved any further in the escalating situation in Ukraine.

Paul, a staunch non-interventionist who last year retired from Congress after more than a quarter-century, said during an exclusive interview with RT on Wednesday that there’s “no sense” in having America entangled in the overseas standoff.

Don't we have a signed agreement with Ukraine?

I agree with Paul 100% on his reasoning, but when the Soviet Union melted, Ukraine was persuaded by us to give up it's soviet era nuclear weapons for something from us (some sort of protection?). I'm working from memory here, and am not that knowledgeable about Ukraine. Any one else know more about this? And I'm not defending whatever deal was made, but if you make a deal, you have to stick with it or in some way fairly alter it.

Undo what Wilson did

The situation in Ukraine is a

The situation in Ukraine is a mess. Crimea has a Russian naval base and Russia has an agreement with Ukraine allowing it to keep that base and to place up to 25,000 Russian troops in Crimea. I believe that even with the recent increase in Russian troops they are still under the 25,000 limit. As bad as the previous prime minister may have been he was at least elected, which gave him more legitimacy than the people who have taken over the government by force. The Ukrainian people are themselves very divided on whether they should lean towards Russia or Western Europe.

I hope a peaceful solution can be found soon but I think things are made worse by those American politicians who seem eager to reignite the cold war. (John McCain, I'm looking at you.)

Everything that comes out of his mouth

just makes too much sense!

Which is why the mainstream media and mainstream politicians say he is dangerous and a kook.

It's pretty interesting this

It's pretty interesting this reporter quit RT the same segment in protest of Russia's interventionism.

Has it occurred to anyone that Ron Paul might be wrong???

Anti Panda?

It's been a while. Good to see ya around. There was this Chris guy here for a while, I think you would have liked him, but either way it's good to see you back.

I was forced out of retirement.

There's been a proliferation of pro-panda propaganda lately, and I can't abide by that.

Dr. Paul was just on Cavuto and said Ukraine is behind on

their gas payments to Russia so maybe if we give them aid their government will be able to pay Russia :-)

He should have

said, 'if we ask the Fed to print some more debt to Americans, in order, to give aid to the Ukraine, then they can pay Russia. Neither will ever be able to pay it back, but the Fed gets bonds and interest for creating the fiat dollars." Can't say 'borrow money from China' anymore, because they no longer are players in our ponzi scheme. Heck, you used be able to say 'borrow from Russia', but they quit 'the ponzi game' about 6yrs ago. Soon, the Rothschilds aka the Fed will have enough bonds to state buying the states, heck they already own half the houses from all the QE trading of fiat dollars for mortgages, so the banks have liquidity to still function.
