I just wrote this article in the hopes of appealing to some of Edwards' supporters.

John Edwards' supporters were by and large white, working class men. Many of his supporters do not like Hillary or Obama.
Granted, some of his supporters are extreme Socialists, but a lot of his vote was from the more conservative elements within the Democratic Party.
We must sieze this opportunity!
Ron Paul and John Edwards have a lot in common - the are both against the Iraq War. They both oppose unfair trade deals like WTO / NAFTA.
Edwards' supporters are not likely to embrace the Socialist policies of excessive taxation and spending of Clinton and Obama. They grew up in an era where ordinary Americans could make a good living in a blue-collar job. These jobs are disappearing, and only Ron Paul and Edwards have fought to stop this destruction of our National economy and national character.
These hard-working Americans did not grow up believing that the government would support them from cradle to grave. Just like Ron Paul, they believe that a hard day's work deserves "Just" compensation from employers, not the government.
Edwards' supporters are the backbone of America, they are exactly the people Ron Paul has spent his years in Congress defending. Hard-working Americans respect our Constitution and they do not like seeing their liberties and freedoms disappearing in name of false security or globalization.
They see their jobs disappearing oversees or right here on our soil they are replaced by migrant workers (don't say illegals).
Ron Paul fights for the Rights of all Edwards' supporters.

These are all Edward's big issues. These are all letters from Ron Paul that should be very appealing to any Edwards voter. Basically, they show that Ron Paul has an impeccable record, and that the Republican Party has failed. This is what Edwards' supporters must see.
Remember, these are older, conservative Democrats. So, please dress nicely, be polite and calm, and just spread the message of inclusion and peace.

Personally, I really did feel bad for him during the last few debates - he was the "outdated white guy." Totally unfair.

Suggestion: Other posters try to leave the DIGG at the top. Many Edwards supporters liked him because he seemed like the "nice guy" and among that line-up I have to agree. The only "hits" he took were over trivia like "his hair/Breck Boy,"
We all know that there is a "nice guy" left in the race. Only one. The Edwards supporters who had already decided they were definitely against Hill and BamBam, certainly would not be for McCain or Romney. There is a real opportunity here. Not just for us...but for those supporters to find hope again...this time real hope.

Ron Paul needs to ameliorate fears on Social Security
I have relatives in Florida and they tell me that Ron Paul only got 3% because he scared the seniors of Florida on Social Security, if they heard about him at all in bits and pieces.
RP does that a lot. He talks in theoretical extremes, which scares people who do not understand that he is theorizing mostly.
He could get Edwards and Giuliani people if he showed that he would take care of the retired people and defend the country against attack.
Of course he would compromise once in office.
For instance, there would be no way he could close all the foreign bases around the world. But his talk says he would do just that, which scares the moderates who think one or two bases in Germany should remain open.

I agree. He needs to make it very clear that
he will ensure that people get the SS benefits they have been promised, and have paid into for their entire lives, and not just the "elderly" but everyone who has had money deducted from his or her pay check. Then he should explain that by strengthening the dollar, which only RP will do, those benefits will be worth a lot more than they will be if we continue on the current path to destruction of the dollar.

My Mom loves Edwards, and she's only ever voted Republican (but she's undeclared. In our case that is a good thing)!
She's lost her mind in her old age! She's obsessed with Social Security.
That means that there must be other people like her! Independents who may just want to end the wr, secure our borders and end all the evil trade deals.
I don't think most middle age people really want "mandatory" Universal Healthcare.

Think about it, Edwards was just as much a victim of the DNC as Ron Paul is of the GOP. The media pretty much ignored both of them.
I think Edwards' supporters will totally relate to Ron Paul's supporters frustrations.

Every single Edwards canvasser (8 or 9?) that came to my door here in NH said they actually liked Dr. Paul and if "their man" weren't in the race, would switch parties to vote for him!
All but one had some choice words for Clinton & Obama, and also likened Edwards to Paul, in that the "top tier" were making fun of him and he wasn't getting the media exposure because he wasn't "the anointed one."

Edwards was campaigning for those who hate the corporate welfare sect and hit hard on Obama/Clinton campaign financing by their lobbyists. He's a wealthy man due to taking these large corporations into court. I guess the corps just hit back.

Listen, a lot of his supporters are middle age men, working class men. They are not necessarily Socialists like Edwards is. Most guys like that love their freedom, they just hate that the government has sent their jobs oversees.

For me (43) and hubby (45) it was the War, Anti-Nafta
Anti Socialized Medicine combined with a new found understanding of the monetary system that moved us to RP from Edwards. We then saw Ron's integrity....enough said.
As the economic downturn highlights that issue more middle class, middle income will come.
