CNN's Sanjay Gupta Documentary: Weed 2 Cannabis Madness

(Video thanks to MMJ Ministry and Mox News)

(CNN) -- It's been eight months since I last wrote about medical marijuana, apologizing for having not dug deeply into the beneficial effects of this plant and for writing articles dismissing its potential. I apologized for my own role in previously misleading people, and I feel very badly that people have suffered for too long, unable to obtain the legitimate medicine that may have helped them.

I have been reminded that a true and productive scientific journey involves a willingness to let go of established notions and get at the truth, even if it is uncomfortable and even it means having to say "sorry."

It is not easy to apologize and take your lumps, but this was never about me.

This scientific journey is about a growing number of patients who want the cannabis plant as a genuine medicine, not to get high.

It is about emerging science that not only shows and proves what marijuana can do for the body but provides better insights into the mechanisms of marijuana in the brain, helping us better understand a plant whose benefits have been documented for thousands of years. This journey is also about a Draconian system where politics override science and patients are caught in the middle.

Since our documentary "Weed" aired in August, I have continued to travel the world, investigating and asking tough questions about marijuana.

I have met with hundreds of patients, dozens of scientists and the curious majority who simply want a deeper understanding of this ancient plant. I have sat in labs and personally analyzed the molecules in marijuana that have such potential but are also a source of intense controversy. I have seen those molecules turned into medicine that has quelled epilepsy in a child and pain in a grown adult. I've seen it help a woman at the peak of her life to overcome the ravages of multiple sclerosis.

I am more convinced than ever that it is irresponsible to not provide the best care we can, care that often may involve marijuana.

I am not backing down on medical marijuana; I am doubling down.

ooooh this tricky media..

how did they criminalize cannabis?

Kids. (save your kids from psycho-trauma and interracial marriage, etc..)

how are they trying to reverse the damage they did?

Watching the show and sure enough, they just summed

it all up. Next segment is about the overseas secret pharmaceutical where they will be growing and creating what will soon be available in the US. Bet most of the CNN staff and Gupta are investors!

Why isn't anyone talking about the timing of this also

coinciding with the growing civil unrest in our nation and around the globe. I suspect that this political change has a little something to do with knowing it will settle down a good percentage of the population and letting people get stoned tends to mellow them out. Chill people don't typically riot and get violent.

Yes, but cannabis is a mild psychedelic

Helps people see through the bullshit (the antithesis of alcohol) - the REAL reason it illegal, IMO.

Leges sine moribus vanae

Agreed. Introspection and thoughtful observation tend

to go along with the partaking. The world might wake up to the deception they have been subjected to for so long.

anyone know if you can stream

anyone know if you can stream this if you don't have cable?

Gupta is a buck short and a day late

That CNN report grudgingly admits the medicinal value of cannabis, softens the old lies for redistribution, ignores many of the recently discovered benefits and refuses to apologize for the useless destruction of millions of lives in the war against this plant.

I'll give this report a D+/C-.

Leges sine moribus vanae

You are being generous teacher. LOL

More like a solid F grade up until now, but I suppose even the worst student in class can eventually wake up and be enlightened.

are bad mmmkay

but marijuana sure has a million and one uses and my favorite is how much it makes you SMILE (-;

If you want an anti-depressant, the right strain is PERFECT for the job. I have arthritis, epilepsy and a few other issues with my body and after doing 20+ pills daily for my various ailments I was able to remove all of them by smoking herb. Haven't had a seizure since I started smoking and the swelling in my knuckles has been gone as well.

Marijuana helped me quit smoking cigs as well. Quitting cigs is a hard one but was able to smoke a bowl versus a cig for the first week until I didn't care whether I had a cig or not. The other great thing is, even if you are our of herb you don't freak out like you do when you are out of smokes.

Gupta is a goon and so are his cronies at CNN. Each and every one of them should be held to account for the eighty years of lies and bullshit they have continuously sold the public against studies, publications and evidence. These fucks are criminal at best. What is more is that every government in the United States has peddled the lies about cannabis for eighty years. How exactly does it do justice to anyone by allowing these criminal governments to reap any of the rewards from an industry pushed criminally underground for decades? Don't give me any bull about this being a better direction. If you are still paying taxes and acquiescing to these governments then you have not discovered yet how criminal your acquiescence is. Want blood on your hands?...keep enabling criminal governments.

no doubt they are trying to get out ahead of this story to try and gain some credibility. (not to mention this subject probably brought them some of the highest ratings ever)
I believe they KNEW a great deal of the medicinal and industrial benefits of this plant when they decided to eradicate it. I have read studies from the 1850's where they were giving it to 40 day old infants with seizure disorders with great success.

If anything this can be used as evidence to show the dark underbelly of corruption and greed conducted under the guise of "keeping people safe."

Here is the US Govt. PATENT on Cannabinoids through the DHHS on this medicine they have scheduled as a Class 1.
Cannabinoids as antioxidants and neuroprotectants

Its true

May I recommend that you watch a short documentary about what happened to medicine in this country and across the world. It is called "Rockefeller Medicine" by James Corbett of the Corbett Report. Find him on youtube or his website.

Here's the thing; if cannabis was in every single pharmacopeia around the world for centuries or millennia then why were no legitimate studies conducted on it a hundred years ago with the advent of "modern" medical quackery? The prohibition was a crime to begin with and it is a crime today. Someone should hang for sure.

Depopulation is the buzz word for choosing responsibility for these government crimes against people. Cannabis is, according to my research, the single biggest threat to global depopulation and dependence. If the NWO intends to murder us all with poverty, starvation, disease and war then cannabis is the divine herb that can remedy all of those weapons being used against us. Part of this argument is well-documented in "the emperor wears no clothes." Check it out!

been researching this for only about a year, but I couldn't agree more with your statements.

"Cannabis is, according to my research, the single biggest threat to global depopulation and dependence."

Why else would there have been such a tremendous effort to criminalize and eradicate it worldwide?

Not only did it threaten the "Rockefeller" chemical based pharma interests, it threatened numerous special interests that had already cozied up in bed with the govt.

As you probably know, Henry Ford had designed a car to be built from (mostly) and run off of industrial hemp. I believe this is where he (logically)felt the free market would eventually go. But as you also know, we don't have a truly "free" market.

I can't help but wonder where our country would be if it were used to its fullest potential from the beginning. I'll check out the Corbett film. I like his work. thank you.

I began my cannabis research at the age of fourteen. The most interesting aspect of this research is that I wanted to know what was so dangerous about pot. I have, to this day, never found a single instance where cannabis was found to harm or hurt anyone at all anywhere, ever. This was a smack in the face to a high school kid in the midst of the D.A.R.E. program. But the benefits of cannabis have been documented for several millennia at least.

Prohibition is spoken of as if it was a thing of the past but this is another manipulation. In fact this criminal prohibition has persisted for several generations despite the best science at the time applied to it only discovered that it was no harm. Look at the LaGuardia Commission Report from 1944. The Panama Canal Zone Report, The Wootton Report, The Shafer Commission Report and the 1988 DEA petition for reschedule from NORML all demonstrate clearly and without a shadow of a doubt that this prohibition is criminal and nothing less. Whats more is that the original prohibition was against a known toxic substance with obvious and continued social consequences. Cannabis is good for you no matter how you take it in. Even smoking it benefits your body according to research published by UCLA in 2006. Dr. Donald Tashkin published a twenty years study, funded by the government to establish negative connections, proving that people who smoked as many as six joints a day for ten years had "significantly fewer cancers than members of the population who smoked NOTHING AT ALL." If you are involved in spreading truth friend this is the message that has the most socially redeeming aspects to it. It has no equal. The founding fathers knew this very well and recommended growing cannabis. Why would the founders, who wanted our freedom and independence, tell us to grow pot but our criminal government today forces us not to? They do so with state of the art military hardware and tactics. They murder us on a daily basis across the nation, innocent and guilty alike with family pet executions as well, at our own expense, against all truth, reason, logic and wisdom. My only conclusion....welcome to the rapture freeradio!

If you enjoy horror stories may I recommend "Overkill: The Rise of Paramilitary Police Raids in America" by Radly Balko? I offer you a fair warning though. My life has never been the same after reading this short fifty page report. The last half of the document is bite size newspaper clippings of actual events that resulted in the murder of an innocent civilian. Almost all of these raids are conducted on suspicion of marijuana whose official stance with this government is a documented lie.

$1000 says Gupta dodges the elephant in the room:

Industrial Hemp

If you don't know your rights, you don't have any.

Jefferson's picture

probably a given that "industrial hemp" wont be covered, but the airing of this show makes it easier to help people warm up to the idea.
I spent part of the day yesterday in an Oncology waiting room. It was a strange feeling (knowing what I know)seeing all of those people in various stages of being burned and poisoned with chemo. I felt myself wanting a little rubber stamp that said "Cannabis kills cancer Google it" to mark some of the magazines and other "promo" literature with.

The airing of this show made it easier for me to tell certain people in the medical field about it without jeopardizing my own medical records talking about personal experience..

Will we reach the tipping point before they blow the world up? IDK, but fighting on one front helps the other. They are equally important topics, but you can't have people tending the crops and making the products if they are sick and dying.

It's rare to have a conversation with someone and see the lights come on, without them reflecting on how they "could have helped" a relative or friend. Just about everyone has been affected in some way by the explosion of cancer, diabetes, and the host of other diseases this medicine either treats or cures. It's one of the ways I feel I can help, outside of the political process. (if there even is one anymore)

Politics should never be the reason people receive medical treatment. Sadly, that has been the way it has been for several decades. It has just been hidden from the people, through insurance companies and others, that might lose money if their treatments are abandoned. I would rather die on medical cannabis, with a known cancer than take the poisons they want to put in a cancer patient's body!

Probably the only time Im going to watch CNN.

And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat. ~Genesis 1:29

What is Capitalism?

Shalom Aleichem! Thanks for bringing up Genesis 1:29...

"Meat" or "Food" it will say in other versions... the original Hebrew word used does translate to that, but it can also be said to mean "Sustenance"... so this would include medicines as well... just as many other herbs have been used for medicine by mankind for millennia...

This is my favorite passage to convince religious crusaders against "drug" use, that G-d has actually commanded us to use every herb that bears fruit of it's kind for food/medicine/sustenance...
They usually have nothing to say after that... You can't argue with the Word of G-d, especially when you are claiming His support...

Genesis 1:29 should be used to remind religious anti-legalization advocates, that they are denying G-d's very Will.

I use it in my Symbol for the legalization advocacy group started, P.O.T. - People Opposing Tyranny...

Yup. As soon as the money players were in line with the

mechanisms in place to profit the most and control the industry, then they are suddenly all in. Screw these parasites.

The DEA's Lie about medicinal cannabis

The DEA claims "No medicinal value" while simultaneously the Federal Government has been cultivating and distributing 300 rolled joints per month to select medical patients since 1983 due to the known medicinal value for those select patients:

The most powerful Law of Nature is Time. It is finite and we all will run out of it. Use this Law to your advantage, for it offers you infinite possibilities...

How is it this a hole who denounced it for so long

is in the spotlight and stands to gain financially and professionally? Another worthless tool. How come people like Jack Herer or Richard Lee are not in the spotlight? These people actually fought and spent their entire lives trying to educate the masses.

Would you cutoff your nose to spite your face, too? Be happy that the country is learning the, long hidden, truth about the usefulness of the cannabis plant! Opposing this man makes no common sense, at all!

I am happy, but this man should not be in the spotlight.

Probably 60% of the NBA, a great percentage in other professional sports, hundreds of the top musicians, artists and entertainers in the world all use it so why did they all sit silent for years watching their brothers and sisters go to jail for something they all have been doing and partying about for years. The entire thing is so hypocritical and now that Monsanto and all the big money players are in position to profit the legality will finally occur. But be careful what you ask for as there are going to be repercussions. Just wait until they start collecting revenue for all the DUI's they will generate from pot.
