The Reason The Liberty Movement Hasn't Already Won

We've all fought long and hard... We've utilized various different plans, techniques and tactics from as many angles as we could conceive.

Some took the fight to the establishment through infiltrating the GOP, others fought in courts or protested in the streets... We've documented corruption, rights violations and murder by elected and appointed officials and have made their crimes known to the general public.

We've evaluated the challenges facing our communities, states and nation and have proposed sound and logical solutions... We've eloquently stated our views in letters to editors, blogs and message boards. We've intellectually neutered the opposition in debates and discussions... but we're still not able to reach critical mass.

I was lamenting on what it is that has kept us from breaking through to the masses... and then it hit me at work today as I carried on a 5-6 minute conversation with an absolute moron.

Our Countrymen are MORONS!

The mean IQ worldwide is 100. There are numerous articles available online which suggest the average American is even dumber than the average person worldwide. (which anecdotal evidence from my own life would generally support)

So the problem is that we're trying to use logic and intellect to drive home our points... and we're not dealing with a target market which reads books and knows history. We need to develop a plan to appeal to the lowest common denominator... a strategy to reach the "America's Next Top Superstar Whatever" fans. We need to dumb it down to a sentence or two that hits home with the kind of people who quote commercials to each other and laugh about it.

To take it to the next level we need to get stupid... almost retarded.

The next time your brother-in-law or father-in-law comes over spouting neocon or neoliberal BS, pay attention to the little nuggets he spouts to back his programmed-opinion... We need to learn to package soundbytes and talking points. The people are just too dumb to reach any other way...

We must utilize repetition as the average American is heavily medicated. We must utilize repetition as the average American is heavily medicated. The message must be delivered frequently and through multiple formats.

Reduce Liberty to its most basic sentiment and try to express it monosyllabically.

What you say about priorities is true

But not about the intent of the argument to me. Comes across to me,anyone who watches anything that is sport related is the problem
You know, instead of seeing people using the bad and try to make it better
This is what I do,preaching to the choir is futile, ones have to be reached where they are, before they will be where we are
anyways,thanks for your comment

If we deny truth before your very eyes, then the rest of what we have to say,is of little consequence

thank you!

thanks for pointing that out...

also, i posted this under "humor"

At their inceptions, the #Liberty, #OccupyWallStreet and #TeaParty movements all had the same basic goal... What happened?

Hey Deacon, you're in the same boat as Michael here

He likes sports. I don't know about Nascar, but I knew he liked football, and last night we were talking and I found out he loves baseball.

He must just be willfully ignorant like you.

Mr. Harris further up in this thread stated that if you watch sports you are part of the problem. Something about it not helping the cause of liberty.

The person who runs one of the most popular liberty websites is clearly part of the problem also.

It's funny to me sometimes in the libertarian community when people who supposedly advocate individualism, put people in groups when it is convenient for them so they can point fingers.

Anyways, I don't watch sports, so I am not nearly as willfully ignorant as you and Michael and other liberty activists who probably watch a sports game here and there.

Have a good day Deacon.

:)

Always a voice of reason...I like that
I watch only nascar,for me,it gives what I call a brain break
6 days of input I do not want, and 1 day to get some of it sorted it out.Too many days with no break, and it turns your soul dark.
I used to play sports in school, never got into going and watching
Used to dirt track race,so I guess that is in my blood.
So,I guess I am good company if I am part of the total problem :)
you have a nice day yourself

LOL

Who benefits from NASCAR?

It's a marketing opportunity for each of the big corporations which work to enslave us... from big-oil to GMO-food makers to drug-companies to the media. They use this "entertainment" to grow their brands at your expense and further capitalize on the audience to manipulate fans through pro-war, pro-military propaganda events tied to each race.

Every single aspect of NASCAR works against your interests as a liberty-minded individual...

Maybe you are willfully ignorant.

At their inceptions, the #Liberty, #OccupyWallStreet and #TeaParty movements all had the same basic goal... What happened?

You sound like some bigoted Yankee

NASCAR isn't any worse than voting. It is a tool that can be used for good or bad.

lulz. what?!

How can Nascar be "used for good"?

when you buy a ticket who gets that money? when you watch it on tv who gets the ad revenue you helped build based on your viewership?

PS my great, great, great grandfather and all 5 of his brothers fought for the confederacy.

At their inceptions, the #Liberty, #OccupyWallStreet and #TeaParty movements all had the same basic goal... What happened?

deacon's picture

Uh huh

You are the only one who knows that
I never knew nascar has it all locked down with their own getting the jobs
such as their tires, their trailers, their haulers, and I Never knew nascar took a bailout
I also never knew that the army, nat guard, navy hasn't the right to fund race teams. So glad you pointed this out to ignorant ole me
Now what do you suppose I talk about to people who watch it?

If we deny truth before your very eyes, then the rest of what we have to say,is of little consequence

you're awfully confrontational

I'm glad you brought up the army/navy/national guard using our tax dollars to fund this "sport"... and also that you seem to claim this propaganda/advertising is appropriate and acceptable.

as far as talking to these people I bet you can already relate really well. Do you know anything about Liberty vs Tyranny? that might be a good subject with which to start.

At their inceptions, the #Liberty, #OccupyWallStreet and #TeaParty movements all had the same basic goal... What happened?

deacon's picture

I am?

Confrontational?
You are the one twisting what I said, and putting words in my mouth
Nice try...but,you are only above another..in your own mind
Yeah,uh huh, show me in my post where is said their advertizing was "appropriate or acceptable"...You can't,as this is just another"put words in anothers mouth"
But,why would I bring that up?Use that all inclusive brain of yours...Nah,I am going to tell you the answer, that would be too easy
D

If we deny truth before your very eyes, then the rest of what we have to say,is of little consequence

i never intended to put words in your mouth

I used qualifier "seem to"... it appeared as I read your post that you were insinuating you supported the navy/army/national guard utilizing the advertising available through sponsoring NASCAR.

I'm above no one... but below no one... same as you.

Please note that the thread here is posted under "humor".

Maybe I'm misreading your post and incorrectly implying the confrontational tone in your comments on my own... maybe you're doing the same with mine.

The goal of this post was never to start a fight, but rather to point out the intellectual high-horse the movement occupies and point out how it's ineffective.

At their inceptions, the #Liberty, #OccupyWallStreet and #TeaParty movements all had the same basic goal... What happened?

deacon's picture

Well my friend

What you claim in that last paragraph was what I felt you were doing to me.
But no,it does sicken me,nascar gets a bailout, they use advertizing which is again paid by the people, they have goodyear, featherlight, sunoco fuel, their haulers, the travel trailers,All of these are hand picked by the nascar board, and like most every other venue, even the money supply, goes to their friends.
I use this as a platform, and I also use it to give myself a break from all the crap I take in day in and day out.
have a nice day
D

sarcasm doesn't carry well via text...

That last paragraph was intended to do exactly what it did... but meant to have a sarcastic tone.

We're on the same team here.

namaste.

What can I say?

Nothing but this :)
You have no worries with me,I called you friend, and I meant that
whole heartedly
And yes,we are on the same team, glad to have you at my side.
