Bill Gates Speaks

...to Rolling Stone.

He has many valid criticisms of government, public school, Obamacare and more. I don't agree with everything he says, but it's a worthwhile read.

Bill Gates speaks again .....

.. suggests the problem (unemployment) could be fixed by reducing taxes on employers and raising taxes on employees.

The widening recognition of greater low-skill unemployment is also creating a problem for the many executives — including Gates — and lobbyists and legislators pushing for increased immigration. They back the Senate’s immigration bill, which would dramatically increase the supply of foreign labor, despite Americans’ high unemployment rates.

The individual has always had to struggle to keep from being overwhelmed by the tribe. If you try it, you will be lonely often, and sometimes frightened. But no price is too high to pay for the privilege of owning yourself.

Gates sucks

he can take his common core crap and shove it up his a**

Jefferson's picture

BG

is an evil bastard and has openly admitted that we need to reduce world population by a large percentage. I personally believe he is working toward those (and UN agenda 21's) goals.

One of his creepier endeavors is vaccines delivered via the mosquito.

He's not alone. Many sadly grant themselves deferments.

In order to stabilize world population, we must eliminate 350,000 per day.

Interesting,

He thinks it makes sense to believe in God, the same as Albert Einstein. He pretty much cites the same reason as well, that if you consider how unlikely it is that randomness created the universe, it's pretty obvious their was a designer.

It seems like neither was sold on the notion of a personal God, but they both seem to agree on an intentional design by some higher power.

Any opinions on this from my atheist brothers in the big libertarian tent?

I believe Bill Gates

is a huge contributor to Planned Parenthood.

Those who expect to reap the blessings of freedom must. like men, undergo the fatigue of supporting it.-Thomas Paine

The R3volution requires action, not observation!!!!

I believe you are right, and

I believe you are right, and also in the interview he was talking about new condom technology. I find it interesting that he also talks about how the down side of new medical technology will be that we don't have enough money for everyone to benefit from it. I bet he will though.

Two things: It doesn't look

Two things: It doesn't look like Bill Gates believes in God, he is a rationalist and Albert Einstein was not a religious person either.

Here's what Gates actually said: "I agree with people like Richard Dawkins that mankind felt the need for creation myths. Before we really began to understand disease and the weather and things like that, we sought false explanations for them. Now science has filled in some of the realm – not all – that religion used to fill. But the mystery and the beauty of the world is overwhelmingly amazing, and there's no scientific explanation of how it came about. To say that it was generated by random numbers, that does seem, you know, sort of an uncharitable view [laughs]. I think it makes sense to believe in God, but exactly what decision in your life you make differently because of it, I don't know."

To clarify, he agrees with people like Richard Dawkins. For those who do not know who Richard Dawkins is:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Richard_Dawkins#Advocacy_of_ath...

He said he agrees with

He said he agrees with Dawkins that mankind needed myths in our species infancy. He did not say that he agrees with Dawkins in that he does NOT believe in god or a god.

To say that Gates agrees with Dawkins atheistic belief is dishonest

Why is it dishonest? He also

Why is it dishonest? He also said, "Before we really began to understand disease and the weather and things like that, we sought false explanations for them. Now science has filled in some of the realm – not all – that religion used to fill."

He admits he cannot explain everything in the universe and that can be said of any human being. He says that religion provided false explanations.

Religion and theism is not

Religion and theism is not the same thing

You might be right about them not believing in God, but...

I trying to point out that neither of them denies the possibility like so many atheists do. He says he agrees with people like Richard Dawkins that mankind felt the need for creation myths, he did not say he agrees with everything Dawkins says.

He also says it is an "uncharitable view" to suggest that the world was generated by random numbers, and that there is no scientific explanation of how it came about (doesn't accept the big bang theory?).

un·char·i·ta·ble lacking in charity : severe in judging

Also Einstein did not believe in a personal God, however several of his statements show he believed in a creator. I would imagine that he found the mathematical odds of a randomness, unlikely.

“In view of such harmony in the cosmos which I, with my limited human mind, am able to recognize, there are yet people who say there is no God. But what really makes me angry is that they quote me for the support of such views.” -Einstein

Maybe Einstein would take this position because it would be a faith based conclusion to claim to know there is no God for sure. The only logical answer to the question of God's existence for a rational person is to say, I don't know, any claim otherwise is an indication of the person's desire, not of a rational conclusion.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Religious_views_of_Albert_Einstein

“Unquestionably. No one can read the Gospels without feeling the actual presence of Jesus. His personality pulsates in every word. No myth is filled with such life. How different, for instance, is the impression which we receive from an account of legendary heroes of antiquity like Theseus. Theseus and other heroes of his type lack the authentic vitality of Jesus.”

“No man can deny the fact that Jesus existed, nor that his sayings are beautiful. Even if some them have been said before, no one has expressed them so divinely as he.” -Einstein

The private charity and

The private charity and personal skills and time that Bill Gates has invested into this world I have a lot of respect for.

The private charity and personal skills and time he has invested

is the Sheeps Clothing, that the wolf wears.

It is cheap (relatively for him) PR, nothing more.

But I could be wrong.

Why this was down voted I

Why this was down voted I have no idea. Charity and personal responsibility for the common man through voluntary acts of kindness sounds alot like Libertarian principles.

But also I must add that there has been alot of criticism about the methods used by the Gates Foundation, some which I honestly don't see the issue, some based in fear and backward religious dogmas, and some very serious issues about population control in which I understand and agree with the criticism.

But we are all men and women, fallible. Maybe he is trying his best but sometimes it just goes wrong. Cut the man some small amount of slack (I can't believe i just wrote that about Gates).

I essentially agree. He's

I essentially agree. He's doing things via private money to improve lives. There is nothing wrong with that...although it must be noted that with Microsoft's new CEO Satya Nadella now in place, Bill is now going to be playing a behind the scenes role of closely advising this guy who has no experience runnng a large company.
