Good debate strategy - Addressing specific opponents.

I noticed that a lot of times, canidates suck up debate time by constanty adressing each other prompting a response. Do you think it would be a good idea for RP to intentionally call out other Republicans during the debate on their "conservatism" to respond to points that he is trying to make? I think this would suck in the other canidates to engage RP and lead in to more debate time for our guy. Think this is a good idea? And if so, what points should he call them out on?

YES!

Every time he has gotten into a "head to head" with another candidate RP always comes out on top. Its an excellent strategy.

I would press McKook on the Economy (something completely different than the President's Working Group because he will be ready for that now). I would push Romoney on National sovereignty vs. NAFTA and I would hit Huckleberry on Immigration!

Then, just in case people have forgotten, towards the end I would remind all of them just how perfectly happy they are letting our wonderful, brave, heroes (as they rightfully although patronizingly continue to describe them) die. Day after day, they die. Along with Iraqis, they die in a "war for profit", not a "war for democracy and freedom". BAM!

Am I wrong?

Seniors! Party Base!

I think it would be a good idea for Ron Paul to address the concerns of 50% or more of voting public--those over 50 years--by destroying the misperceptions that he a) wants to end SS and b) is weak on defense.

He is the only one who can save Social Security.
He is the only one who is considering the long-term safety and security of the United States.

Ron needs to start speaking to the people

and forget addressing the clowns on stage, or answering the dummied down questions that are desinged to sabatoge him. He needs to start warming to the people, and start asking for their support, by explaining the situation. He's the biggest target of the 'establishment' because of the strict, hold accountable government he'll bring. The establishment thrives in an unaccountable environment. A day doesn't go by, when one dept. of the government is not calling for an investigation into another dept.

I absolutely agree that he should almost wholly disregard...

those "trap door" questions" they always throw at him. He usually does very good at turning them around but they eat up his valuable time in the process. I agree, the others on the stage with him are clowns and puppets which is why he looks so much better addressing them directly. I do see the merit of your argument, though. Getting through to those people who do not know him would be of great benefit. So, the question remains, do it by direct confrontation or by speaking to the audience. Will it depend on the format? Will it have to do with the skewed stance of the moderators? hmmmm?

Direct confrontations are also harder to edit out.

Ron delivers a killer answer on electability and it gets edited out on the replay. But direct confrontations are much much harder to edit out clean and make the news.

These edits will absolutely KILL...

the credibility of the MSM in the future. They seal their own fate.

I think he has been speaking to the people

But until the other canidates and the media are forced to engage him, they will just keep ignoring him. Looks like we're back to the "First they ignore you," part and I was thinking strategy to break that.

Ultimately, I think this is where I stand also.

Call these clowns out on their unpopular "corporate paid for" opinions.
